View 3 Repliesmoving entire Picasa library from PC to Mac? With ALBUMS and FACE TAGS? I tried backup to ext. hdd but that didn't work. Picasa on Mac restores folders with Windows paths -> useless. Then I tried moving only folders and rescan them again, but I lost all album and faces -> useless. Finally I tried coping folders and Picasa data from user/appdata/local folder to Mac Picasa library folder.

I have had all of my personal photos in iphoto, and my proffessional work browsed through using picasa. I am beginning to wonder what if any edge iphoto has on picasa at all...
View 23 Replies View Relatedhad it all of two days now and am trying to understand the basics of IPhoto - which seems like a really cool program. My question is this: I store all my photos on an external server / hard drive accessible to multiple computers with our family. When I import them into IPhoto, am I actually copying them onto my Mac (thereby having two copies of my photos - one on the external HD and one on my Mac) or is it like Google's Picasa that just stores thumbnail info for organizing, etc? Also, I like to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit, play with the photos, and thus, when I save a changed copy of the photo to this external hard drive (while keeping the original), do I then need to import the copy over to IPhoto or does IPhoto have a scanning feature similair to Picasa that will scan the drive and pick up new additions?

I am trying out Picasa on my iMac and just installed Adobe Lightroom. There does not appear to be a way to change or expand the choices in Picasa for "open" of a file.
I would like to use Picasa to manage my photos and do quick edits but be able to open a given photo in Lightroom.
Does anyone know of a way to set this up?
I have had my Macbook Pro for only about 2 months, and I'm relatively new to this Apple world. I've had no problems with using iPhoto and uploading photos to other websites... UNTIL last night! I downloaded Picasa for Mac (I've been trying to find a good photo sharing website that doesn't cost me money. I use gmail, so this seemed reasonable.)... and I swear, something has happened. I'm fairly certain it is connected with downloading the Picasa plug-in.
I have searched high and low in every corner of this Macbook, and my picture FOLDERS are nowhere to be found. My photos are still in iPhoto, and the APPLICATION shows up in my Pictures folder, but no folders with the photos themselves. Does that make sense? The photos are in iPhoto, but not stored in any folders anywhere on the computer. This is rather distressing. Has anyone heard of this happening before??? Or does anyone have any advice for me??? I can't share any of my photos anymore until I find a way to fix this! I keep trying to upload photos, but they are nowhere to be found when I do so!
Installing google earth 5.0 beta and got this. how is it any safer than having periodic update checks? looks like no way to not have something running in the computer's background bad move on google's part.
