OS X :: Audio / Video Geeks Using Latest Handbrake?
Dec 12, 2009
not 100% sure where to put this question...but im converting my physical DVDs with mac The Ripper to create a raw DVD rip and then use handbrake to create an iTunes file to distribute via iTunes on my various macs and iPods.
I'm looking at getting the highest video & audio quality (space is not an issue)
but i notice when i ripped from the raw dvd rip form MacTheRipper to m4v h264 in Handbrake; the video quality looks pretty solid, however the audio sounds alittle lower and not as high quality as the dvd rip.
kind of like it took quite a bit of a hit.
so im wondering if anyone knew how to preserve each audio & video when converting to m4v from dvd rips?
Does anyone know how to extract audio from video files? I can't seem to do it from within the Handbrake GUI - is there a command line way of doing it? Otherwise, what's a program that can do it? Obviously I could use Audio Hijack, but I'd rather not have the quality loss that comes with re-encoding.
With Handbrake (I'm running a nightly beta build, but it's proven to be stable so I doubt it's the problem) the audio of DVD quality videos is severely (several seconds) out of sync. With HD TV shows under my own custom iPad preset it encodes beautifully, but if it's simply SD the audio is off in both normal profile, universal and AppleTV. The file itself is fine as I've tested, but it never encodes the video properly.
Im currently doing some video converting using handbrake and I was just wondering if its ok to do this for a prolonged period of time? I have 7 movies to do, and am currently on the 3rd one. They take about 30 minutes each to complete and my cpu is currently at 84C. It fluctuates anywhere from 80C to 87C. Im just wondering if I should maybe give the cpu a break or if I can just do them all in one sitting?
i have a HUGE collection of DVDs and i bought a portable HDD to back them up onto. So i have like 13 done and when i went to try the 14th to make sure video quality was there, there was no video quality. There was no audio and the picture looked like an itunes visualizer. I was wondering if this was a handbreak issue or because it was a newer DVD with some sort of protection on it. It was I AM LEGEND and the other movies i ripped were like John Wayne classics and movies from the 90s.
What is the best export method (file type and settings) for exporting HD video to be converted using Handbrake? I use handbrake to convert my HD video to be played on my iPad. And I want to edit the video first in iMovie, then export the movie to handbrake to be converted to play on my iPad.
My biggest concern is exporting from iMovie, I want the best possibly quality.
I have a lot of movies encoded with handbrake at the apple tv settings, and a few people have asked how to take one of those and re-convert it back into dvd files.
can this be done? I need to put a few backed up dvd's back onto dvd's cause i already got rid of them and i cannot watch the appletv handbrake version over at certain friends houses.
I tried doing the video files as data but they still show up with the .mp4 at the end and the dvd player will not recognize them.
I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.
I recently downloaded the lastest OS update (Lion X 10.7.4) on my MBP that I purchased in November of 2011, and since downloading it my MBP has been making a constant "humming" noise from the right speaker/disc drive area. I also don't have any audio output for FaceTime or Skype. I attempted to use Photo Booth to record a video and it doesn't record any audio. I attempted to reset SMC and reinstall Lion with no resolution of the problems.
I have a BluRay rip in an MPG format.. Whenever I load it into Handbrake, Handbrake crashes. Is there any other application I can use to convert it to MP4?
I listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?
has anyone tested out handbrake on their i7? I'm still waiting on my i7 but was curious just how fast a 2 hour DVD would take on handbrake for a mp4 appleTV format...
How capable is the video in the latest mac mini? *edit* 2009 2.0ghz 9400m graphics 4gb 1066ram. 128gb ssdI'm looking to offload my 07 mac pro and use my mini for a while whilst I get a little more cash and wait for a good deal on the (aussie) refurb store for a new mac pro. But in the mean time while using the mini I'd like to run my 30" dell at native res, and a 24" dell at native res. Would the vid card on the mini handle this? I don't intend gaming or doing anything hugely graphic intensive.
I subscribe to a couple video Podcasts, but don't view them often. But one popped up that looked interesting so I tried and only got the audio. The video window did not open.I checked an older video that came with a purchased album and again, the sound played but the video did not open. No Video just Audio. I'm running iTunes 10.6.1 Lion 10.7.3
I downloaded a wmv video and the video is coming through just fine, however, I have no sound. I followed the exact directions posted by "satcomer", where I changed my audio output to 44100.0.Hz but still no sound (my default was actually already set at 44100.0.Hz).
I have a .mkv video file with Russian .ac3 audio but separately I have a .ac3 English file and I couldn't find a free program to put the English AC3 audio file in the .mkv video.
I know that VLC is supposed to sync audio/video on the fly and it usually works fine. But is it actually possible to sync the audio with the video when there is an actual fault of the sync in the original, for example, avi-file??
I want to extract the audio from an .flv video. The only way I know of doing this is by putting it in imovie and then doing extract audio but I cant add a .flv video to imovie. What can i do?
I have the most annoying problem with my macbook. Its a Core2Duo blackbook from late 2006. For the past few months videoplay back has been horrible. What it does it when I am watching some video the audio and video will skip than miss a few frames than jump a few than just freeze or crash itunes or vlc.
I'm new to video chatting especially with a mac book. So me and my friend wanted to video chat on meebo, we can see each other, but only i can hear her she can't hear me.
I am new to Macs and I used to have a program for my PC called Tunebite, which plays back audio files and video files back and copies them as whatever you want. Gets rid of copy protection stuff.
i have this live concert on dvd and i want the audio on a cd to play in my car ..i was wondering is there an application i can use to extract this audio and convert it to a preferable audio format?
iTunes has the Rod Stewart video of the song Ooh La La. I would buy it if I could somehow extract the audio to put in my iTunes library. I don't know why iTunes doesn't sell the audio only version of this song, but I would like the audio only, even if I had to buy the video. Can I separate the video/audio of this for iTunes?
I have a few .AVI files that I want to play on my Macbook. But when I play them with Quicktime, it shows me a black screen and plays with only audio. No video. And yes I have installed Perian but that's not fixing this problem either. I tried using VLC but that didn't even show me a black screen. I could only listen to the audio.
Concerning The Difference Between A Hd 7200 And 5400. Saw In Some Webs Tests Comparing The 2 Hard Drives.. wd, hitachi, seagate. But They Are Always Based On Simple Tests When U Cannot Notice The Real Difference Between 7200 Vs 5400...and That Really Make Confused The People. The Difference Are Huge When Working N Digital Tasks..like Audio,video,3d..and So On..rather Than Office, copy A File,internet..and ********s Like That. In Logic Audio Pro U Can Perform With Up 10 Tracks More In 7200 Than In 5400,above All With The New 16 Mb/3 Gh.in Final Cut U Can Render Fluidly And Faster With A 7200 Than A 5400. Now,yes the Hard Drivers Get A Bit (just A Bit) More Noisy..gain More Temperature And In Some Cases Vibrate More. This Is The Truth. But In Other Hand, the Issues With 500 Hd 7200/5400..are Unfortunately Real. If U Got A Mbp (mid-09 Or Even Late 08),avoid Hard Drives With G-force P. At Least. I have several video recordings (mostly in mp4 format), which I would like to parse the audio out of. Is it possible to do that? There aren't specific tracks I want, I just want the whole audio track from the video extracted. Any programs to do this? Better yet, freeware?
