OS X :: New Voices For The Mac?

Feb 10, 2009

Is there a way to add more or newer voices or options to the mac speech feature ?
Or is it something you get when you upgrade your Osx ?

OS X :: Speech Voices That Apple Provide?

Jan 1, 2006

Does anybody know any free speech voices that you can actually understand unlike the ones that Apple provide? I have tried Cepstral voices but you have to licence them which I don't want to pay for. Any voices for Mac that are free and as good as the Cepstral ones. There must be some?

OS X :: Automated Mac Voices To Audio Track?

Apr 1, 2010

I was wondering whether anyone out there knows how to turn the mac automated speech voices to an audio track that can be used in a video. By the automated speech I mean the ones where you can type in what you want it to say, you can choose a voice, (I think one is called alex), then right click and click start speaking. I want to use this as an audio track in a video.

OS X Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How To Restrict Multi-lingual Voices Updates

Mar 20, 2012

For the second month in a row my company has grossly exceeded its bandwidth limit. The culprit is our Mac server automatically downloading ~15GB of updates in a given day of the month, most recently the 21 March. Every update is labeled "multi-lingual voices" (version 1.0, post date 16 March 2012), each update's size 200MB to 500MB. There is no reference/description regarding what these updates are, only a product id e.g. "041-4502 (Multi-Lingual Voices)"

The server update settings in Server Admin is set to "all new" updates. Automatically copied. Delete outdated software updates.

1. What are these multi-lingual voices updates, where and why are they used?

2. Can I restrict these updates from automatically downloading, whilst retaining the "all new", automatic copy, setting for the remainder of my other updates?

Server/Software details:

* Our Mac server (OS X server 10.6.8)

* Server Admin v10.6.5 (328.4)

Info:
Mac OS X (10.6.8), Server admin
