OS X Mavericks :: 10.9.4 - WiFi Does Not Work With Static IP Address

Wifi does not work with a static IP address.
My wifi access point does not have DHCP enabled, and there is no DHCP server on my network. The internet connection is NOT coming my wifi router.
Every machine on the network has a static ip address and manually configured DNS and GATEWAY to my correct gateway IP. This currently is working on this machine (windows 7), my ipad 2, my xperia phone, my windows xp box, my vista box, and even a virtual pc running windows server which is on my mac.
But the mac won't connect to the internet, or ping anything including the gateway ip address or any other machine on the ip address. How can I get this mac to have a static ip address without having dhcp ...

Aug 26, 2014My iMac is very slow. It only works on wifi. Ive got good cat 6 hard wire to cox business and its fast internet. but it wont work on the network. it says i need an ip address. it says the internet is connected but needs an ip address. Ive got it on dhcp auto. but not working. All other computers work fine with dhcp. It says the computer is connected but does not have an ip address. Not possible if its set in dhcp as that is supposed to give you a rolling ip address. Ive got a cisco gigabit switch that is working well with 10 - 15 other computers working fine on it. Ive changed the port multiple times in the switch. rebooted of course. nothing works.

Jun 24, 2012I've been Windows my entire life, but a buddy of mine told me to look at the MACbook Pro cause he knew I was into digital photography. So after a thurough look over I've come to realize that the force is strong with this one and I'm going to convert. My question is, is the system 32 or 64 bit? I'm not even sure if that's an applicable question for a MAC, I would assume so since it basic architecture.

MacBook Pro :: Physical Mac Address To Enable To Get WiFi?
Sep 28, 2009Not being a professional mac user I was asked to provide my physical mac address by the IT person at my work to enable me to get wifi. I can't seem to be able to do this on my G4 15" powerbook. I'm also not sure if I need to as I get full signal from the wifi in the place and I should only need the password? He says this is the only way he can give me the password..is he a bit behind the mac times!? I remember a 'run' command on the early iMacs.
This is what I was given;
'On the laptop press start, go to RUN, type in CMD, then type in IPCONFIG /all (there is a space between ipconfig and the / ) He should then see his physical address.'
Can anyone enlighten me please?

Nov 18, 2008It's the strangest thing, my wife's MBA (v1) will randomly refuse to connect to our home wifi network (cast by a 500GB Time Capsule). What seems to be happening is that it will connect then disconnect at bootup, it will say no preferred networks are available (when the home network has been configured!) and refuse to assign an IP address to the MBA. If I manually select the home network from the wifi icon, it will diplay security password, and then say this is invalid (when it is perfectly valid and the one used by my own MBP and iPhone)... this seems to happen only on our home network, any other works fine...My own MBP is fine. This is driving me crazy and I haven't found anything on the web on this.

Aug 20, 2014my iPhone will not sync with my iTunes over WiFi - I had my phone stolen and now have a new one and for some reason it won't sync over wifi. I have tried unchecking the box, applying it and checking it again and I've tried renaming my phone too.
Second problem is that I got a load of new music and when I synced it, everything went onto my iPhone except for one album - it was a musical score and I already had a couple of songs on the phone but decided to get the whole album. Everything else has synced fine except this one album.
Finally, when I synced my music to my new phone some of the album artwork does not show up on my phone (it did on my previous phone). When I actually tap on the artist to play the songs, the artwork does show, so it's obviously on the phone. But when there is just a list of artists, some of the artwork doesn't show.

Sep 5, 2014My mbp retina is having wifi issues. It says there is no ip address and has an exclamation mark over the wifi signal symbol. I know it is not my router because everything else is working fine. I have tried adding a new location, clearing out system config, restarting the SMC and many other things. I cannot connect to the wifi but sometimes I will be able to randomly connect. If I were to sleep or restart the laptop, the wifi will not connect and its back to square one.

Nov 18, 2010So I have the 2010 White Unibody 2.4Ghz Macbook and the airport works perfectly fine whether I am at home, the library, school, etc. The problem I am having with it is when I am at home and using the airport, and my iPhone is also connected to the same network, the wifi will work on my iPhone but will stop working on my Macbook. It still shows I am connected but it will not connect to any webpages. As soon as I turn off the Wifi on my iPhone and refresh the page on my Macbook, it will load. Is there anything I can do to fix this. By the way, My Toshiba laptop has no problem with using Wifi the same time my iPhone is connected to it, my Macbook is the only one having problems.

Jun 25, 2009I have an open wifi network setup that I can't connect to. There are several PC users in the house able to connect, but my iPhone and MBP are unable to establish a connection. Stranger, is that when I plugged into the ethernet, my laptop was also unable to connect using the "Automatic location." I setup a new location and was able to use ethernet, but wifi is still not working. I used to be able to connect to the network and as far as I know no settings have changed. My son's iPhone will not log on to our wireless.
I have 2 Macs, an iPad and a PC that all access our home wireless without any problem.
His iPhone did access it also, now after entering the correct key it fails to log on.
Have tried resetting the iPhone twice, checked to make sure the pass key hasn't somehow changed, but nothing works.
The phone logs on to other wifi networks without a hitch.

Oct 27, 2010I am trying to move all of my contacts from my iphone to the address book on my macbook. I have carried out a back up and then tried a sync choosing the "merge info" option along the way. I have retained all the contacts on my phone but cannot get them to appear in my address book on my mac. When I look at my contacts on the iphone - when I check in the groups tab I now have two listing under "from my mac" these are the single contact i made up in order to merge and "all from my mac" which contains this single contact along with the standard apple contact that always appears. It seems the info is going to the phone but not back into my address book.

Jun 12, 2012I've recently upgraded my internet speeds through my ISP to have 50Mbps download and 2Mbps upload. I use my 2TB Time Capsule as a router as it has by far provided the best connectivity than any other router. I run dual network - connect my iPhone 4S through standard network and my iMac through 5GHz network. Since upgrading my speed, I have noticed that my iMac speeds vary greatly, but most of the time I'm struggling to get more than 10Mbps download, however on my iPhone I easily achieve almost 40Mbps. I have tried different browsers, and ensured all other applications are closed and even switched the iMac (2009 i7 quad core) to the standard network. At that point I noticed a slight increase in speed but it was short lived.
I am stumped on what to try next. Does anyone have ideas? The iMac is a little hot, but nothing that isn't normal so I can't put it down to heat or anything. I recently installed Windows 7 through bootcamp but didn't expect that to impact anything, however it was around a SIMILAR time that I noticed issues, as previously I was getting a consistent connection of 20Mbps before I upgraded.

Mar 24, 2010I travel every week and each week I have to decide whether to use my tethered iPhone (not jailbroken) or the hotel Wifi. I pick which ever one seems fastest.
What I would like to do is combine both of these connections together and get better speeds. Or possibly assign one connection to one application (skype) and the other connection to firefox.
