View 1 RepliesSo I'm looking at buying a new mouse, and the Logitech MX-1100 has me very interested. A couple questions though;
1) Are the DPI buttons customizable in OS X through the Logitech Control Centre application? Does SteerMouse or even USB Overdrive recognize these buttons for customization (I don't care too much about dpi settings).
2) I've noticed in some stores the mice on display often time have the scroll wheel spin completely without any clicks, you can literally spin the scroll wheel and let it glide for a moment. But there are others that click with each push and don't spin. Are the ones that spin freely defective or something? What gives? I prefer the free spin, since its completely silent (like the Microsoft mice) but something is throwing me off here.
im currently going into high school, and one of the things that you need is a wireless mouse with a usb dongle. Now, i saw something about the microsoft arc mouse somewhere, and decided i wanted to get that.they have it for 32$ on amazon which is a pretty good deal considering its 50 at best buy and 40 at walmart.com
but, when i was looking on best buy's website for the arc mouse, i saw that they had the mx 1100 for 30$, and it looked like one of those fancy looking gaming mouses or whatever
now, i have to choose, so im gonna ask you which one is better.i don't care about batteries.i get mine from costco, and they r super cheap. recharable would just add more hassle because i would most likely be taking from and to school every day so that little space the arc mouse has to store the dongle is defenitly a plus.
or, are there any other good-looking, good preformance mouses for less than 30$?i really don't need the extra programmable buttons, the mouse is just basically so we don't have to use the trackpads on the laptops like maybe for some basic programming or something.
I had a Dell 1100 laser printer working on my iMac (G4 ball type) using a GIMP printer. I had to reset the queue and lost the driver. I can't remember which GIMP driver I used. Also, although I have loaded the latest GIMP s/w, I can't seem to get to them in Tiger 10.4.6.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'd like to know how I can install the driver for this printer--I've tried everything for the software downloads, but no luck --isn't there some hardware or software?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI think it worked at one point, but sometime around the point when I set up Fusion with the partition, Windows Aero turned off and is no longer an option in the display settings. I installed this driver with the modded INF to see if it would do anything, but Aero is still not an option. I also have issues playing some games in Fusion, while they work fine in Boot Camp.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI finally decided to get a new 27" iMac in order to release the old G4 from it's pain.
What I wasn't aware of tho, was that there's no firewire 400 port on it anymore, which I need for all my peripherals (scanner, hard drives, etc.)
I bought a firewire 800 to 400 adapter, and while everything fits physically, there's no connection. The iMac refuses to find any hardware I connect to it...
I don't have anything that uses firewire 800, so I can't do a proper diagnostic. Thought I'd ask you people if you have any idea what might be the problem?
I recently went away for the weekend and when I came back my USB ports don't work. When I first start my 24" iMac the mouse lights up but then goes off later on when it's booting up. I really don't know what to do and i'm not even sure if I got any discs with my iMac as it had Leopard preloaded...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 2.4Ghz 24" about 18 months old. After a visitor's mains powered hard drive (which was later shown to be already faulty!) was connected I lost the power to the USB bus inside the iMac. I can still use devices that need power with an USB port expander but this is far from ideal. USB data is working fine as is the firewire port. Simply the power to the USB. I have reset the PRAM but not yet reset the Power Management Unit. I assume there is no physical fuse for the USB power internally as I have not seen a reference to one anywhere. Should I reset the PMU?
Are the USB and their power integral to the motherboard? On start up I get the error message: "USB Over Current Notice. A USB device is currently drawing too much power. The hub it is attached to will be deactivated." I get this error message even when nothing not even keyboard is plugged in (so its not that faulty keyboard error). There really is no power at the USB ports - but data is working
When i open photobooth, all i get is the camera logo with a line going thru it... When i open ichat, it says no camera is attached... There is no green light, in system profiler under USB TREE, the isight is not even recognized....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just aquired a slot loading iMac g3. It is a blueberry model, with a 350 MHz g3, and 512 megs of ram. Not that that matters. Anyway, it seems to have been dropped and has a crack above the crt. The speakers also do not work. I plugged in a pair of speakers in both of the headphone jacks. Nothing. The audio port. Nothing. I checked the volume, and it was at full blast. Not even a peep from the speakers. The sound area in the system preferences did not have an option for internal speakers, it was just greyed out with headphones as the selection. By the way, it is running Tiger. I opened it up, and everything is connected. I took the logic board off, and everything is fine. I put it back together and booted it up and... NOTHING..... What could be going wrong?

Growltunes will not seem to work on my 2010 iMac! Growl works for everything else, but will not post notifications from iTunes 10. It's installed locally (i've tried in ~/Applications and in ~/Applications/Utilities..) and is definitely running (I've checked in Activity monitor)
Done the standard thing of uninstalling and re-installing boths apps to no avail. Really maddeningly, Growltunes tells me what the last song played is (see attachment) but it wont display a notification! Even more infuriatingly it works perfectly on my MBP with iTunes 10.
I used bootcamp and loaded Win7 on my month old 27". Can't get the keyboard to work in Win7.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi got an aluminium imac. however, today when i tried to connect my FW800 Hard drive it did not work and it works by FW400. i connect the same Drive to my MBP using FW800 and it is working flawlessly.
i am still running tiger while the MBP has leopard
i wonder wether the returned My Book Studio has any effects on this. i returened it because i couldnt get it to connect via firewire. i really hate this as i use that lovely FW800 port a lot.
I have a aluminum iMac, which has been working fine until now. A couple of hours ago I restarted it and went and did something else for a couple of hours. I then came back to find my keyboard and mouse not working, I double checked and they were both plugged in fine (I use the aluminum apple keyboard and a kensington mouse). I restarted my computer but it still did not fix the problem (I was still stuck at the login screen). I thought it might be the USB, so I plugged my iPod in, and it did not charge. While my iPod was still connected to my computer I restarted it again and as soon as the screen turned grey my iPod started charging and my mouse worked (the light turned on), but only until the grey apple logo appeared and it then stopped working again. I have tried every USB slot and none of them work. I'm pretty sure my computer was completely updated as well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my 24" 2.8GHz iMac from November 2007 flawless until today, 1 of 3 usb ports on the back simply decided to stop working. my keyboard, when plugged in, does not work, however, I usually use this one port with my iPod, when I plug my iPod in, it turns on, says its connected, then ejects automatically, though in the other ports...it works fine in the other ports.

I basically need to reset my IP adress but idk how.
So my USB KB was looking pretty grungy so got the bright (or not so bright) idea of cleaning it with windex. I sprayed a little on a paper towel and tried to gently clean the grunge off the keys. It is now clean, but the "D" and "E" keys do not work. Its been three days also so I figure if some liquid did spill under the keys they would be dry by now. Is this a good excuse to buy a new imac?
View 6 Replies View RelatedTitle says it all...how does the new iMac work as an external monitor? Is there a way to use it as a monitor without having to log in / load OS? Is there any delay as compared to a standard monitor? I'm just thinking long term as the iMac becomes long in the tooth and we move on to new machines. Can the iMac still be used as a quick turn on monitor or do you need to load up both machines (and do you need to rely on all parts functioning in the iMac, such as mobo, hard drive, etc. still working) to utilize it as a monitor)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just bought Aperture 2, and during installation blithely told it to import all my 10,000 or so iphoto images. After several hours I'm just looking at it in browser view with 10,000 grey rectangles, and a little "thumbnails" flash appearing every few seconds on the bottom bar of the browser.
24" IMac 3.06 with 4GB RAM
Does anybody have any tips on how to get RAM out of an aluminum iMac? I've been pulling on the plastic tabs for over a half an hour, pulling side-to-side, straight, and both RAM modules refuse to budge.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I upload pictures, the thumbnails won't show the picture, just the dotted line outline for all thumbnails.
Also, when I rotate a picture, it won't hold the rotation. After I have rotated it, I go over to iMovie to put the picture in it's spot, and it generates back to it's original direction before I rotated it.
i was going to put an installation disc in my iMac. When i noticed that it would not suck in the disc. I tried pressing and holding down the eject button but nothing actually happened. I don't want to push the disc in because it will get stuck in there. The Apple Store is in the capital and i live about 332 km or hundreds of miles away from there so are there any tips?

Recently I changed my 4-port USB hub for a 7-port hub. Now 2 USB ports are dead, and the third port will only accept self-powered devices, such as external drives, a printer, or memory sticks. I dare not plug in a hub, so I am faced with a lot of plug-swapping.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from on old iMac. Dealing with unhappy kids because the minecraft game they loved won't work on the new one. I've installed Java for Lion. I go to the minecraft site and try a single player game. We get application errors. I suppose its an older game that is not compatible with Lion, right? I see I can purchase a download for 20 euros. Should that work?
