OS X Leopard :: Nokia N70 Mobile Doesn't Connect Via Bluetooth
I switched from a MB to a MBP. During installation of the new MBP I've recovered all information from the old MB from a Timemachine backup.

Everything worked fine - except the Bluetooth connection between MBP and my mobile, a Nokia N70.
iSync didn't synchronize any longer - "device not found".

I deleted the N70 from the bluetooth settings and tried install it again. During the installation the wizard asked me to enter a code into my mobile. After entering the code into my mobile the installation wizard went on with the installation - "gathering more informationen about Your mobile" (originally in German, I don't know the exact wording in English).

The installation wizard won't go beyond this step of the installation - it is never finished. So I am also not able to use iSync via Bluetooth of course.

OS X Leopard :: Bluetooth Setup - Nokia GPRS / 3G Modem Script
I've got a really annoying problem with the Bluetooth Setup of my Mac. Like you can see in my system description, I use Mac OS X 10.5.6. For a long time I used my old mobile via Bluetooth and GPRS as a Modem. Now it was time for a change. I bought a new mobile which supports 3G (Nokia 5800 Xpress Music). I used the Bluetooth Wizard and told him to use all possible bluetooth functions of my device. I looked in the internet for the right configuration (APN, CID,...) and choose to use the Nokia GPRS/3G Modem script which is preinstalled in Mac OS X (I also tried another one from www.taniwha.org.uk, it didn't work either). The very strange thing is, the first connection worked without any problem, but after disconnecting and reconnecting it didn't work anymore.

Instead I've got a message that the RFCOMM-Channel can't be opened. I tried to fix the problem myself by searching wrong settings in some plists, but although I restored the original settings after recognizing that my changes didn't work, I've got a new problem. Now the status symbol of the bluetooth modem always shows up that no modem configuration could be found, although I can still try to connect via Network -> Bluetooth. Of course it doesn't work this way too. Sometimes the bluetooth modem works once after a reboot ( not after every reboot ). But only once! File Transfer always works! The Nokia Multimedia Transfer also always works.

MacBook Pro :: Modem Connection Dropping - Tethered Nokia E72
I am on my second Macbook Pro 17" i7 (first one was replaced by Apple). Both are brand new. My current MBP drops my tethered Modem connection all the time and will occasionally recognize my E72 as a "new network connection" (like it's the first time it has ever been plugged into the MBP for plug and play).

To resolve, I will do a combination of: 1. Unplug Nokia E72 from USB and restart the phone. 2. Reboot the MBP 3. Do both.

On the rare occasion that I do connect to the wireless access point using my tethered phone connection, there is no rhyme or reason behind why the connection will all of the sudden just disconnect/drop. I will then have to run through the process of unplugging the phone from the USB, restarting the phone, rebooting the MBP.

To reiterate: my first MBP did NOT have this issue and BOTH MBPs are brand new out of the box (not refurbs). Do I need to re-image the machine? Other thoughts?

Software :: Internet Connection Hangs Disconnecting Using Mobile Connection (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS)
I'm on holiday using my mobile phone (Nokia N80) to connect to the Internet over GPRS / EDGE / UMTS. Everything works like a charm, but often the Internet Connect applet drops the connection and just hangs disconnecting.

I'm running OS X 10.4.7 on a 17" Macbook pro, but I have the same result on a iBook G4, same OS X version, and even trying with a different mobile phone (Nokia 6600) and different network service provider.

Snow Leopard :: Connecting To Nokia 5800 Via Bluetooth
I have a nokia 5800 which I successfully paired with bluetooth and did some things. Then the next night although its seen it does not connect. So I disconnected it and reset up bluetooth and it worked fine, then the next time no dice. Infact I have had a number of phones, none of which work reliably with OSX. Is it fair to blame all of these problems on the various phones, or should apple just stop trying to do the software and hopefully push the phone makers to come up with some decent OS X software?

It's unable to pair via bluetooth a Nokia N73 mobile phone with the latest firmware installed.

Bluetooth Assistant of Leopard only detects on it only one feature: just to connect to internet.

iSync can't work with this mobile phone also.

This pone was supported on Mac OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10, so... it seems that is a problem with the Bluetooth frameworks on Leopard.

OS X Leopard :: Modem Status Stuck On Disconnecting
I'm using my cellphone as a bluetooth modem for connecting to the Internet. Usually the setup works very well, but every once in a while the connection operation gets stuck, the modem status in the menu bar (and the status in the Network preference pane) just get stuck on "Connecting..." or "Disconnecting..."

Except rebooting the Mac (which is awfully frustrating and time consuming in my work environment), nothing that I tried could release this status and allow me to connect again properly. This includes disabling and re-enabling the bluetooth power, resetting the cellphone, sleeping and waking up the Mac etc. Which system process is in charge of this connection process? Will killing it release this state?

OS X Leopard :: Application To Control A Phone With The Modem
Hi everyone, I have a big question: May I use Automator (Or any other application) to send several tones and hang up-pick up signals over the modem?

I have a telephone exchange (Central Telfónica en Español) and sometimes introducing all the tone-codes for programming is just... so boring.

I like to know if there is any way to send to the modem the correct tones, and when I have to send a Flash signal to the phone, over the modem on my beloved iBook G4.

I remember the old days, back on Mac OS 7.5 when we have the "Stacks" on HyperCard, that can dial numbers, or even send those "flash" to the modem, If I can recall quite right.

If someone has any Idea it will be nice to know, and also If there is other application that does that.

OS X Leopard :: How To Replace Internal Fax Modem
I have a June 2004-early 2005 PowerMac G5 that I ordered with the optional internal fax modem installed. It is modem model "Jump", V.92, MotorolaSM56K. It was working great, receiving faxes until there was a lightning strike nearby that apparently fried it. After doing a lot of reading and troubleshooting (Motorola's website was a big fat zero!), I ordered what I think is the replacement part, modem dash 56k, which is a small (2 3/4" long x 1" wide chip that looks like it will easily slide into an existing slot. The problem is, I cannot find where the internal modem is located! I have studied Apple tech specs about the guts of the G5 and there is no mention of it. I have to use my computer for incoming faxes--and to store the PDFs. I really do not want to get an external fax modem--but will if I can't resolve this.

I am trying to make them "see" each other on the network, so that I can transfer files back and forth, but I really can't figure this out. OS X Leopard :: ZTE MF627 3G Modem Disables AirPort
I have just bought a ZTE MF627 3G modem from 3 (three.co.uk). Having installed it I can connect to 3G successfully via the Network section of System Preferences (or via the supplied software). However, when I connect to the 3G network is disables access to wireless networks (airport is turned off as soon as I hit connect).Even once I've disconnected from 3G network and unplugged the modem I am unable to connect to my airport network.

I set location back to Automatic (from 3Connect) and can seemingly connect to the wireless network: I get black bars in the airport toolbar. But whether I use DHCP or manually set an address, I am unable to actually ping my router or get on the Internet. With DHCP I just get a self-assigned address. A reboot fixes the issue until I connect via the modem again, but isn't an ideal solution. I have looked for more information and driver updates on the ZTE web site to no avail. I did find [URL] but it's for Huawei modems, not ZTE.

ISync :: Nokia 5200 With Bluetooth
I'm gonna try this anyway. Here is how I got my Nokia 5200 synchronised with iCal, Agenda, iSync via Bluetooth. It's very easy. You need to replace the number "6131" for the number "5200" inside the script: MetaClasses.plist This is a file that's located inside the nokia 6131 folder of the iSync. Here's the rute to get it: finder / applications / select iSync with right boton of the mouse (control clic), then, select: view package content / contents / plugins / applephoneconduit / contents / plugins / nokia6131 / contents / resources / MetaClasses.plist.

Now, open this file with Textedit, and with "search and replace", replace all the "6131" with the number "5200". And that's it! If you want to have the Nokia 5200 icon on the iSync screen, you need to get it and save it as .tiff format. then, inside the "resources" folder (where the MetaClasses.plist. file is) replace the allready existing image of the nokia 6131, and name your image like this: com.nokia.5200.tiff
