OS X Leopard :: Mail Is Stuck On Downloading Incoming Messages

My mail is stuck on downloading incoming messages. Appears one message is messing up the works.(19 of the 300!) It was starting to not automatically download before this happened, that is why the backlog of stuff.
How can I get around this so I can get my messages? I had this happen with my last Mac and had to ditch the whole program and use my funky earthlink mail account.

OS X Leopard :: Moving Incoming Messages To Mail Folders
I am having trouble moving my incoming mail message to my message folders. In Tiger, I could just drag and drop the message and it would move into the folder it was dragged to. Now, in Leopard, this facility works only spasmodically and very infrequently. Additionally, when I use the "Move" facility in the Message drop down menu, I often get a dialog box that states that the message cannot be moved. None of these problems existed in Tiger. Is there a problem with Leopard?

OS X Leopard :: Infinite Incoming Messages On Mac Mail
I am currently experiencing an issue where Mac OS X Mail shows that there are "Incoming Messages... 10 of 25", However, the 'downloading bar' hasn't budged for the last few days, and I have received no incoming messages. This issue has just suddenly occurred one morning when I woke up and I can find no cause for it yet. It is definitely not a problem with anything other than as my iPod Touch is receiving the emails fine on the same WiFi connection. I have tried everything including restarts to fix the problem, and so far nothing has worked. Something even stranger, is that another account in Mail is receiving emails, but delayed by several hours behind my iPod Touch.

And stranger still, whilst I say I have been receiving no messages, I have actually been receiving one, over and over and over again. It's now reached 15 times. Exactly the same email, same 'Date Received', same everything. So I don't want my mailbox filled up with the same duplicate email so I select them all and hit delete. Gone. However, if I click in another part of Mail and then come back to my inbox. All of my duplicate emails have mysteriously re-appeared from the garbage! So I thought I'd try deleting another random email, but the same thing happened. It had soon come back from the dead and popped back into my Inbox. So I've done all of the obvious things like Quit Mail, and restart the computer, but nothing has worked so far. And one more odd thing. Each time I re-open Mail another one of those duplicate emails arrives.

I have an issue with a new install of OS X 10.5.8 Mail Server. It queues everything and won't let anything in or out. I feel like I must have missed something setting it up, but I followed the PDF pretty much step by step. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to getting a new mail server running correctly?

OS X Leopard :: Mail Keeps On Downloading Messages Over And Over?
Mail keeps on downloading messages from my POP accounts each time it connects to the server. It seems to "forget" which messages already were downloaded before. So, if it connects every 5 minutes to the server, it will download all the messages on the server every 5 minutes, so that I have multiple copies in my inbox (as many times as it connects to the server). I tried deleting Mail and reinstalling it from the installation disk, but an error message appears that this version of Mail is incompatible wth OS X 10.6.3.

Snow Leopard :: Mail App No Longer Read Incoming Messages Reliably
I realize this is not new - it is for me, though. My Mail 4.2 no longer reads incoming mail reliably, especially group mail (not spam for me) stays on the server and I have to check it a short intervals to read it. Until about 12 hours ago, these items came through properly on my Mail. Before I do anything else, how could I perform a full reset? (Then deal with spam bit-by-bit, as needed).

OS X Leopard :: Mail Gets Stuck While Downloading?
This problem has been happening since before the 10.5.6 update - I have two macs - my laptop which has no issue and my imac where this problem is coming.

everytime I launch mail it starts to download the messages from the server and then at any one particular message it will get stuck and stop downloading - when force quit it and restart - the same ting repeats itself - it re downloads the messages - making copies on copies of the same message and then at the same message it gets stuck again - I have to then access my mail via the web - manually delete the messages and then restart mail again - however this still does not help cause again when new mail arrives on the server - the same problem continues.

I am using the same POP server on my laptop and it is fine - and even on my iphone while sitting on the same network it gets the mail without a hitch - its only when Im on the imac does this happen.

I tried deleting the account and then making a new one on the Mail app but alas to no avail.

If anyone knows a way to get this problem to go do let me know

OS X Leopard :: Mail Gets Stuck Downloading IMAP
Been using Mail for years, works fine. But in the past week it's gotten stuck downloading my messages. It makes an IMAP connection to two of my Gmail accounts and it appears that it is sticking on one message from one of those accounts.

I don't know for sure if that is the problem. The symptoms:

1. Get New Mail stops at about 5-8 messages in and the transfer rate plummets to zero.

2. Activity Viewer reveals the same subject line message coming up again and again from the Gmail account in question. The other Gmail account keeps downloading messages .... at least, until Mail gets stuck as described above.

OS X Leopard :: Mail 3.5 Has Stopped Downloading Gmail Messages?
I can't figure out what is going on, settings are correct, but gmail messages can no longer download in Mail. It started a few days ago with only one message being downloaded at a time. I would have to repeatedly click the "get mail" button to get all of my messages. Now, nothing will download, and I know I have a backlog of messages. Again, the settings are all correct.

Anyone have ideas? I'd prefer to do mail in Mail, not connect via Safari

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Mac Mail Constantly Downloading Messages (iCloud)?
I recently did the mobileme to icloud swtich to keep my email.Since Snow Leopard doesn't have an iCloud option and the MobileMe account option no longer works, I had to switch to create a new IMAP account with all of iCloud's server info.Ever since, the mac has been downloading messages practically non-stop.Every few minutes it will download 5000+ messages and growl notifications will fill up my screen. My mail folder is currently at 20gb and growing. I know there isn't that much mail data on the server as I originally had my mobileme limit set much lower. I tried deleting the account and creating a new one again, however it still happens.

OS X :: Highlight Incoming Messages In Mac Mail
Is there anyway to highlight an already read and saved message in Mac Mail? To clarify, when I open Mail I have a window that shows all my incoming messages, both unread and read. Sometimes after I read a message I want to be able to go back and quickly find it. This could be several days later and in the meantime I have 50 more saved messages and trying to find it is difficult. Is there some way to highlight it in color or flag it so I can easily go back and find it? I am running 10.5.8 although I doubt that has any bearing on anything.

Software :: Mac Mail - Excessive Incoming Messages
I use Mac Mail at home and at work. At home everything works fine. At work, in general everything is working, but every time I start up Mail, it says there are over 1500 Incoming Messages and proceeds to "download" them. Of course there aren't these messages. My two email accounts are .Mac IMAP account and a business IMAP account. These 1500 messages don't seem to be put anywhere, and I can't seem to figure out which account these messages are coming from. The problem is downloading all of this makes my computer slow down a bunch (old mac) and it takes a long time. The problem does not affect my home Mac or my iPhone.

Applications :: Mail - Incoming Messages In Large Amounts?
I have a 13" MBP running 10.6.2 and for some reason I randomly get Mail bringing in like 3,400 messages and i have not been able to figure our why. I have the following Mail accounts:

1. Work - this is pop and I know it can not be this account causing it as I only leave 1 day on server so there is not that many in there
2. .Mac - (mobile me) however i only have 2,784 messages in it so the numbers dont match up
3. gmail - this account only has 26 messages since i only use it for GV and syncing an Android phone

It does this very quickly for supposedly bring in that many messages and when it finished nothing has changed and i notice nothing new in my Mail accounts?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail App Freeze When Downloading "incoming Mail"
Its been a while that I've experienced freezing session in my mail app (lion os) so as a natural reaction Force Quit>Reopen was the case. After a while I started to notice that it only froze, as in giving me the rainbow wheel, when it was downloading an "incoming mail". Since i get quite a bit of work related pictures and media filled news letters my mail app goes rainbow wheel quite often. After an incoming mail is downloaded, my mail app goes back to fully functioning. There is absolutely no other problems with it. Its just that when mail is being downloaded i cant use my mail app and its starting to get annoying.

Im running a mid 2009 MBP 13" with  V 10.7.3 and my mail app version is V 5.2 (1257) . I have growl for mail installed as a plug in but i don't think that's the reason for the freezes.

Applications :: Mail Not Downloading Messages?
what's gone wrong with one of my POP accounts in Mail? I was curious that I had not received any messages on one account for a couple of weeks, but it's mainly mailing lists that go to that account and traffic is sometimes light so I didn't notice sooner. Once I realised I'd been missing postings, I eventually discovered a couple of hundred messages on the server that hadn't been downloaded by Mail, but I can't work out how to get them downloaded! If I select Get Info on the account in Mail, it tells me there are 198 messages on the server, and they are all marked as new, ie not downloaded yet. But checking for new messages results in no messages being detected.

I've tried disabling and re-enabling the account and changing the passwords to try to get Mail to recognise a change and check the account properly, but no luck so far.

OS X Tiger :: Mail Not Downloading POP3 Account Messages

My mail does not download messages. If I visit the site, put in my username and password, I have no problems checking my mail online. As of yesterday, with Mail, I get this prompt when trying to check my account through Mac Mail:

The POP server "" rejected the password for user ""
Please re-enter your password, or cancel.
I enter my password, Mail attempts to download the mail again, then the same prompt comes up. And it does this over and over.

Snow Leopard :: All Incoming Messages Appear With Flags / Change This?
I recently updated to 10.6.2 and now all incoming, new messages appear as unread (bolded & with blue dot). However, they are also all flagged, and the flag does not disappear after the message is read. Sure, it's a minor thing, but I use my flags to remind me of important messages. Now I have to either delete a message immediately or unflag it.

Any ideas how to change this? I've checked all my preferences and can't seem to find an option to change the appearance of incoming messages.

OS X Leopard :: Mail App - Messages Disappear From Inbox/sent Folder / Messages Are Not Sent
I use Mail app and have two email accounts, both on POP3.

Oftenly when I forward or reply an email and click sent it quietly disappears.

It is not sent, not in the drafts, not in the sent folder and neither in outbox. It simply disappears.

Grate for business. So now I have to check each and every email if it gets into the sent folder and actually sent.

Sometimes messages disappear form Inbox. No active or inactive mail rules available. I see that I have one new message, lick on mail and the same instance message disappears. When I check server it is there (I have set messages to be deleted from server after 2 days).

Before I deleted "Description" in the outgoing servers assuming this may save the day.

Another thing I did was deleting "Envelope Index" letting mail to re-index.

OS X Leopard :: Mac E-Mail Not Receiving Incoming Mail?
Recently "upgraded" to ATT U-verse. My Mac email client (3.6) suddenly not receiving incoming mail from the web-based ATT/Yahoo. Settings-all are correct: Telephone talk with Tier 1 and Tier 2 ATT reps confirmed "unusual" problem, and that the settings (ports, ssl, etc.) are indeed all correct. Tier 2 supervisor referred ticket (F23576784) to the brilliant minds at Yahoo for help. I've heard nothing for five days. Some emails do get received on my client, from (Apple, ATT, for example). Others languish on the web-based mail, with no push to my iMac. Tests of sending myself e-mails continue to confirm problem, with test emails sitting at Yahoo server, no push to my Mac client.

I am able to send e-mails successfully from client. Interestingly, a couple of incoming e-mails from friends did manage to slip through the lines and arrive in my Mac client a couple of days late. Brave little souls, they're not talking.

I've tried all sockets, all other settings possible, but no luck. Why is there no straight-forward answer to this proliferating problem? Odd e-mail behaviors? No documented or shared answers by the big outfits to Mac users? Mac mail virtually disabled and useless? Has anyone found a path to resolving the varied but similar problems in this area yet?
