OS X Leopard :: How To Connect To Router And Modem

I have 3 Macs in the house. One mini (2009) that sits right next to the Belkin, and an iMac and Macbook on the second floor of my house (the kids use these). They've been complaining that it's harder to get signals, signals are dropping, or they are taking longer to connect into. I'm not sure what to do to figure out the problem. Is the modem not working? (That is also several years old.) Or is it the Belkin? I would simply buy the Airport Extreme if I knew that would solve the problem, but I'm not sure.

OS X :: Unable To Connect To Network / Modem And Router Are Not Connecting
My friend bought a new netgear router today. He plugged it in and was ready to get on the internet. The problem is, he can't get on the internet. He is able to connect to the router though. We also tried unplugging the router from the modem and plugging the ethernet straight into his Macbook Pro. From there the internet works perfectly. It is like the modem and the router are not connecting.

Hi, I want to network 2 of my old mac book pros (2006) using an old DSL Modem/Router of mine. I don't want to connect to the internet using the modem, but just use the router capabilities of it. Is this possible?

Hardware :: How To Configure Router/Modem
So, for the past 5 months or so, any time I'm using the internet at home, the connection speeds are atrocious. I bought a new modem (which Charter quickly dispatched as being "unsupported", despite 3 techs telling me it would work), tried hard wiring my iMac to check for wifi issues, and have basically just gone out of my mind with speeds that make dial-up look favorable.

Whenever I experience page timeouts or flat out no connectivity, I resort to the time-tested "turn Airport off/on" solution, which provides a page or two of fast connectivity before the slow downs continue. I'm beginning to think my router is on its way out, but the fact that it works sometimes makes me think it still might be the ISP.

OS X Leopard :: Airport/Airport Express Doesn't Work With 2Wire Modem/router?
I've been trying to get my 2Wire modem to work with my Airport base station and Airport Express modules and haven't been able to at all. There are some security settings on the 2Wire modem that are very complicated. I've tried all sorts of things but nothing has worked.

What I want to do is use the Airport for a music network (and possibly using it as a LAN for accessing computers and printers, although that's secondary). I can get my Airport music network going just fine when it is hooked directly into the Ethernet port on the iMac (disconnecting the 2Wire), but when I connect it to my 2Wire DSL modem/router (model 2701), it doesn't work. I've read about bridging, changing IP addresses, etc., etc., to solve the problem but I don't want to have to have such a complicated setup that I'm going to forget how to reconfigure if anything goes wrong.

So, I was wondering if getting an Ethernet hub and hooking it up to the iMac and connecting the two devices to the hub would work. Can you still buy an Ethernet hub these days? I'm a little confused as to the difference between Ethernet hubs and Ethernet switches.

I also have a MacBook. Would it be easier to connect the base station to the MacBook Ethernet port and run the AirPort network from there instead?

MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect To Internet - Using Wireless Modem To Connect To The Netgear Wgt624
I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.

*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?

Hardware :: Using Slow Internet: AirPort Extreme Behind DSL Modem/router
I've just moved and have had to switch ISPs. I have DSL service and the only modem option my ISP provides is an all-in-one modem/Wi-Fi router. I have an AirPort Extreme that I would like to use, but with this setup, unfortunately, I have to put it behind the modem/router.

I've used the AirPort Extreme both wirelessly and via Ethernet, and it is noticeably slow in connecting to Web sites. My browser often gets stuck on "Looking up [URL]" or "Connecting to [URL]" when it's plugged into the AE via Ethernet. When I plug directly into the DSL modem/router, sites are connected to and loaded immediately. The problem only exists when plugged into the AE. (Strangely, speed tests show that the AE downloads at nearly the same speed as the DSL modem/router, but this doesn't account for the noticeable delay in connecting to and the initial loading of Web pages).

OS X Leopard :: Can't Connect To Router / What To Do?
My G5 is connected to a cable modem via Belkin router.

The drive that has Mac OS Leopard is able to connect to the internet fine but not the control panel of the router. I tried accessing the router via Safari and Firefox and both come back with the error message "Safari (or Firefox) can't connect to server.

I have a second drive that I booted off of and that has Mac OS Tiger. I can access to the router/control panel fine (and the internet too).

My Firewall preferences was set to "Allow only Essential Services" then I changed it back to "Allow all incoming connections" before I installed Netbarrier X5.

Booting in Safe Mode under Leopard produces the same results.

Is there a Mac OS X Firewall preference that I can trash/reset or is there some log I can track to see what is happening when I attempt to access the router?

IMac Intel :: Intermittent Ethernet Connectivity To Linksys DSL Modem / Router (WAG320N)
I have an issue with iMac ethernet connectivity to Linksys DSL modem/router (WAG320N). Ethernet does not connect but if I delete and recreate the ethernet location under network preferences then it connects (but could drop after a while) until I shut down and restart and then there is no connectivity once again. Wireless works fine. I have read a bunch of posts on the topic and what I am unclear about is the source iMac/router/hardware/software. Most importantly given my iMac is still under warranty would like to get any hardware issues addressed now.

This issue started after router replacement but worked fine for a few days following the installation of the new router and unsure that this is the source of the problem given my Time Capsule connectivity is stable and consistently works.

OS X Leopard :: Setup A New Router - PCs Can Connect But My MacBook Cannot
I'm currently in Northern Spain and set up a Telefónica router today. Everything was super easy, and I am connected now through an Ethernet cable. The network shows up in my Airport, but when I type in the password that's written on the bottom of the router, it says "Connection timeout" every time. My roommates, who all have PCs, have been able to connect wirelessly using the same password.

I've never had problems with my connection before, it has worked in the USA and here in Spain in internet cafés, wifi hotspots, everywhere. Why isn't it accepting the password? Is there any way to make the Airport try connecting for longer before timing out?
