MacBook Pro :: Install Developer Tools To Compile?
I am looking for a terminal emulator to configure my firewall. B4 my MAC I was using linux with minicom, so I did find a MAC version, but on complile found; configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH From readings it looks like I need the 'developer tools' installed. I am not sure where these are, I registered as a developer on the apple site, so now I see; "To download Xcode log in to the iPhone Dev Center or Mac Dev Center.", I click the Mac Dev Center which takes me to [URL] with a link to download Xcode that takes me back to the xcode.html page (nice little loop). OS X Leopard :: Cannot Reinstall Certain Packages Of Xcode
Long time ago I installed Xcode 3.2.x but uninstalled it short time after that again by using the uninstall-devtools script which comes with the package. Now I would like to install the lastest release 3.2.3 again, but on the "Custom Install" page, where it asks for the components that it should install, i can only select "web objects". all the other items are grey and not clickable. the item "developer tools" is already selected, all the others aren't. my problem is that i need make and gcc on my mac, but i cannot select the items "system tools" and "unix development" because they are grey/inactive. does anybody know what this installer checks for to decide if it should let me install those packages or not? if i could find out what it checks for, i could change it that way to make it allow me to install the "unix development" package. Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: SVN Setup For XCode (File Not Found)
I'm attempting to setup an apache subversion repository on my shiny new mini server, following the instructions in [URL]. I created the repository, with a new initial project. I've configured apache with my SSL site, webdav configured, all according to instructions. When I get to the step that says to manually edit the sites configuration file, (Figure 8) I can't follow the instructions precisely, because they say to add the DAV and SVNParentPath lines immediately below <Location "/svn/"> and there is no such beast. The config file that was generated by the admin tool does have a Directory block that looks much the same, so I inserted the lines there, thus: <Directory "/svn/"> DAV svn SVNParentPath /Library/Subversion/Repository AuthType Basic <Limit Get Head Options Connect Post Propfind Put Delete Propatch Mkcol Copy Move Lock Unlock> Require user liz </Limit> AuthName "subversion" </Directory> I started the ssl sever, and while I can get to the default root page, the /svn/ directive doesn't seem to kick off webdav. I just get 'file not found'.

OS X Leopard :: Updating Leopard 10.5.5 And Finding Pro Tools LE 7.4.2?
I was looking to see if anyone had installed 10.5.5 and has the latest Pro Tools LE running 7.4.2 but did not find anything so I will not upgrade my Mac Pro until Digidesign says it is approved on their web site. It's sad to see so many people having issues with this update, I would repair your disk permissions and see if that helps. If anyone has installed this with a Pr Tools LE system I would like to hear from you. A friend of mine did it and said Pro Tools was not able to launch afterwards and itunes also had issues. So beware PT users, better to wait and see what digi has to say. It usually takes them a week to make some kind of an announcement when Apple releases an update. I did install the update 10.5.5 on my MacbookPro and have not had any issues yet but time will tell. I do not have Pro Tools installed on it. Snow Leopard :: Where To Store Command Line Tools
I have 4-5 command-line tools that I use. These are mostly open source tools that I downloaded and compiled. Right now, each of them they have their own folder under Downloads and in each folder there is the source code and the binary of the tool. I want to move the binary (executable) files to a different folder and delete source code from my Downloads folder. Where do you recommend to move the binaries? Under Applications? Under Utilities? Maybe in new folder somewhere in the root? Information: Macbook Pro 15 Mac OS X (10.6.2)

When my USB printer (either the Epson or the HP) is hooked directly to my computer, I have access to the printer utility screen. Snow Leopard :: Pro Tools Application Won't Launch
After updating Pro Tools 8 to 8.0.3, it won't launch. When I launch Pro Tools, it'll bounce in the Dock for about 45 seconds, and then the bouncing will stop. The Pro Tools splash screen never appears. I tried re-installing the 10.6.2 Combo Update, but that didn't fix anything. I Repaired Permissions, but still no launch. I also tried creating a new Admin, but that didn't fix it either.

Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: What Tools Do You Really Use To Manage Network Settings?
I have been having all sorts of frustrations setting up DNS, and in the end I found that many of the problems were due to bugs or flakiness in the Server Admin tools.Throughout the course of reading these discussions, I eventually found the solution to my problems in a post by someone named after King Arthur's castle. This person went on to say "...but I quickly outgrew Server Admin anyway, ". So my question is, how do people actually configure things?Do people use a command line version of the gui tools, or is actually hand editing files like /etc/dns/publicView.conf.apple the preferred method.
