OS X Leopard :: When Send Mail, Mail Sends 2 Or 3 Emails?

I've noticed, since i enabled the activity monitor in Mail, that when I send an email the Activity Monitor says, 'Sending 2 emails' or 'sending 3 emails'. Why is this?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Apple Mail Sends Out Emails When Turned On Adress Book Creates Groups Of Email Addresses?
I have had this issue with my address book for a while in that it creates new entries with just an email address as the actual entry and then hundreds of other email addresses from address book as this entry's additional email addresses.

At the same time I had an issue with Apple Mail that I thought was unrelated but now I am not that sure anymore. When I turn Apple Mail on, it sends out emails that look like an endless chain of responses (spam) to the same email that advertises  all kinds of stuff.

When I first noticed the issue I turned Mail off (a year ago). After updating to Lion I tried to use mail again but had the same issue and have not been using it since. But I appear to still find new entries in my address book all the time.

I ran some software (ClamX) but wasn't able to find any malware so far. I can't imagine someone hacking into my machine and doing all this my hand. For what?

So I am wondering whether anyone has had similar symptoms on their Mac?

Snow Leopard :: Mail Can't Send - Get Emails From Gmail / Fix For It?
This has been the case since the 21st (four days ago). The Mail app seems to have no contact with Gmail. When I hit the Get mail button nothing happens, not even the "no new mail"-sound. When I send it takes forever (100kb/s), and by forever I actually mean forever because it's still trying.

Incoming is imap.gmail.com
Outgoing is smtp.gmail.com:myname

Does anyone have the same problem? Or even more importantly have a fix for me?

Snow Leopard :: Emails Send & Reply To Using Mac Mail Sending Duplicates To My Blackberry
A few weeks ago I switched over from my Dell laptop to a new MacBook Pro. The people at the Apple store transferred all of the information over from my old computer to my Mac. Now when I reply to AND send an email from the Mail application on my Mac, several copies of the message I want to send are being sent to my Blackberry BEFORE I even hit the send button on my Mac. I never had this problem until I started using my Mac. Verizon & BlackBerry say this problem has something to do with the way the Apple people set up my email on my Mac and they can't help me fix the problem. The Apple customer service people say it's either a BlackBerry or a Gmail problem and that they can't help me fix this issue. On my old computer (which I still own, but haven't used in weeks) I used Outlook to send/receive emails. Now I use MacBook Pro Mail application Version 4.2 (1077) to send/receive emails.

I can receive emails from my [URL] account(on my MBA) with no problem.

But, I've only been able to send one email out in the last three hours here in the Minneapolis area....

Is everyone else still experiencing the same problem?

Since the switch to MobileMe, it's been one problem after another. Continuing to pay for this account doesn't seem like money well spent at this point in time.

MobileMe / Mail :: Some Emails Never Send And Can Never Be Received
I have a friend who uses an university email account and gmail. We discovered sometime last year that when I send some emails to her she will never receive them. At all. I can look in my sent messages and the emails are there. So we assumed it was her problem.

However, I soon realized that certain emails she would send to me would never arrive to my mobileme address. She would cc'herself and she would receive the messages but I wouldn't.

So we started testing it. I would cc' my [URL] addy, my gmail addy and her addresses. Sometimes-- the email will never reach ANY Of the locations. If I send out another test email-- with different text-- we all receive the email.

Tonight, I attempted to send the same bit of text 5 different times and never received the text even to my [URL] addy that I had cc'ed. I had to log into gmail to send the message (of which I never received anything to my [URL]addy).

I am so paranoid now that I will be missing emails that I cc myself on most every message with the realization that if I did not get the cc the other person did not get my email at all.

OS X Tiger :: Mail Does Not Send Emails With Underlines
I am working on my father's computer, an iMac G4 running 10.4.11. He has recently been unable to send emails from Mail that have underlines. Upon inspecting the problem, I have found that Mail sends a message as text/plain if it finds no rich text within a message, even if the Message Format preference is set to Rich Text. If Mail finds rich text elements, such as different fonts, colors, italics, and underlines, it is supposed to send the message with two parts: text/plain for plain text email clients and text/html for rich text and HTML compatible clients. It does this fine in most cases, but when the only element of rich text is an underline, it ignores it and sends the message as text/plain, causing underlines to not go through. The message is also saved in the Sent folder without its underlines. My Dad is an author, and he needs to send a number of emails with underlines being their only formatting elements, so this has been frustrating him immensely.

I understand that there are a number of workarounds, such as putting in some white (formatted) text at the end, or even using a few blank spaces that are italicized. But we would both like to see a more permanent solution. One thing I have found is that this appears to be a problem with Mail's overall ability to notice that underlines are rich text. For example, if I create a new message, type some formatted text, then go to Format -> Make Plain Text, Mail displays a confirmation box that says: Convert message to plain text? This will lose fonts, colors, and other text attributes. But if the only formatting is an underline, it will not display the confirmation box (though it will still make the underlines disappear). I have done the usual verification of disk permissions, I've replaced Mail.app with the version on the installation disk, and I've even combed through the Mail executable under MacOS in the Mail.app package with a hex editor to see if I could find the root of the problem, but to no avail.

Software :: Mail - Can No Longer Send Emails?
Mail has been working just fine for ages and then for the last 4 weeks it cannot send any emails and gives me the following error message -

'Cannot send message using the server smtp-mbb.three.co.uk'

I phoned up the isp to see whether they had changed the outgoing mail server at all, and they haven't.

I have tried changing the port numbers to 110, 587 etc, but it still can't send.

I have defragmented the HD, verified it, verified permissions on it, cleared the cache, deleted the keychain password items for the mail accounts and the outgoing mail server details, deleted the mail accounts themselves and created new ones.

OS X Tiger :: Mail Can't Always Send Emails With Attachments?
Mail can't always send emails with attachments. It is failing more often than not, citing a server problem. The activity viewer shows it gets so far- 5 or 10% or so- then gives up and blames the server.

It will send usually send emails without attachments, and I can send emails with attachments via the webmail feature of my ISP (Talk Talk), so it would appear it is not so much a server problem as Mail's.

I have tried deleting and re- adding the outgoing server address.

Applications :: Mail Has Taken An Extraordinarily Long Time To Send Emails?
I have been suffering from this issue with Mail for a long time, and I have finally decided to attempt to seek out a resolution. I have noticed that since I began using MobileMe, Mail has taken an extraordinarily long time to send emails. It takes at least a minute to send around 5 lines of text, which seems rather excessive. I have noticed this on Leopard (10.5.8) and Snow Leopard (10.6.1).

When I send emails from my MobileMe account on my iPhone, it takes seconds, so I haven't noticed any similar issues there. I opened up the connection doctor in Mail and found that it took a long time to report a successful connection to both MobileMe and the MobileMe smtp server. I allowed Snow Leopard to automatically set up my mail account, so I don't believe that it is an issue with settings. Has anyone experienced something similar, and is there a fix I could try?

OS X Leopard :: Mail Sends From Wrong Address?
This problem has happened twice recently, and goes something like this:I have a few accounts on Mail.My main account ("A"), I use for most things. Today, I sent an email from "A". This email shows in the outbox for account "A", and shows at the top of the email as having been sent from "A"; but when the reply came back from the recipient, they had replied to account "B", and the original email shown attached to the bottom of this reply showed my email had actually originated from account "B".

Make sense?! Essentially I send the email from A, Mail shows this as having been sent from A, yet it has actually been sent from B.FRUSTRATING!Any ideas how I can fix this? I use different email for personal/professional etc., and it's inappropriate for professional recipients to be getting my personal address.

Software :: Apple Mail Program Doesn't Send Mail Through Optimum Mail
I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.

It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.

Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.

OS X Leopard :: Can't Send Mail On Mac Mail But Can On Entourage
I have been using Entourage on my Macs, and have decided to switch to Mac Mail. I have multiple accounts for my websites on my dedicated server. I use standard ports for sending and receiving mail - and, as it is my server, I can dictate all controls.

So... I can receive mail on my Macs, but can not send. I am trying to set-up IMAP accounts - and my server requires i use as outgoing" [URL]

I use a linux server using cPanel.

It works on Entourage. But Mac's Mail will not accept the outgoing mail information. I have tried with and without authentication (which is required). I have overridden the port and tried each individually (25, 465, etc..). I have tired [URL] rather than the required [URL], just to see. I have tried every combination of information with no luck. I sort of think I know how to set it all up, but can not understand what I am missing?

Applications :: Mail Replying From Wrong Email Account / Sends Mail From Other Account
MBP, OS X 10.4.11, Mail v2.1.3.

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.

Here is the problem:

- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.

I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.

I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
