OS X Leopard :: System Refreshing - Monitor Suddenly Go Blue

I'm experiencing a strange problem with my MacPro OS 10.5.8. I'm working and the monitors suddenly go blue and the system seems to reboot or refresh. It only takes about 5 to 10 seconds, and gives me no dialog boxes. It happened just now, when I was using Firefox and Filemaker. On a typical day I use Excel, Word, TextEdit, Safari, Logic, Sibelius, RAGE WebDesign, iTunes.

OS X :: Monitor Suddenly Goes Completely White / External Monitor Goes Black
I have been using the latest macbook pro 13.3" since April 2010. Over the last week the monitor suddenly goes completely white and the external monitor goes black. The laptop becomes unresponsive although the programmes opened continue running (e.g a skype voice call would continue without interruption although the monitor is all white).

The only solution at the moment is to press the turn off button for a few seconds then switch the laptop on again. It will then work normally until for no apparent reason this happens again.

MacBook Pro :: Why Does Screen Suddenly Turn Blue?
I got my Macbook Pro only 6 months ago, and supposedly, it is a really strong and good computer: 2GHz Intel Core i7 with Version Mac OS X 10.6.8.

A couple of times a week the screen suddenly turns blue. I can't really figure out a pattern as to when it does it. Often, I'll be switching between word and a pdf and then it just suddenly turns blue and I can't use any bottons. I just recently discovered that if I simply close the Macbook and open it up again, then I'll get back to where I was before it turned blue. In this way, I can make the computer 'wake up' by closing and opening it once or twice. Also, I can force the computer to shut down by holding the switch-off botton down for a while.

However, something is obviosly wrong, and it is anoying and also, I would like to find out if it is a hardware problem before it's too late to get it fixed within the hardware-protection period of 1 year after purchase.

I just formatted the hard drive a couple of days ago and re-installed everything, but it still happens. Also, I tried to do the 'hold down option-command-R-P'-thing but it hasn't solved the problem.

Power Mac :: G5 Video Suddenly Has A Blue Tint
There was an electrical storm last night, and it may have fried some things for me, even though everything was on a surge protector. My G5 suddenly has no video. It booted, chimed, and had a white light on the front. I could hear emails coming in, etc. But NO video.I rebooted multiple times, zapped the PRam, and what I'd get is about a half a second of video (grey screen and Apple logo) before the monitor would pop back to black.I swapped in a different monitor I had and rebooted. I then had a normal reboot, but everything on my monitor is tinted blue.I took the old monitor and tried it out hooked up to my iMac and it's definitely dead.Have you ever heard of a video card failing, and everything turns blue?

MacBook :: Screen Suddenly Shows Blue And Pink Vertical Lines?
I am trying to get my MacBook LCD to work right. It happened because one time I was carefully wiping my MacBook screen with a little hand sanitizer and a paper towel. However, later my screen started to show a-lot of weird lines and eventually blue, pink and green tiny vertical lines but it is not completely renderd useless, it is just plain annoying and whenever I have an open window on the screen for a long time and I move it around eventually, it shows an imprint in the background into the screen and even when I restart, shutdown or use Windows in BootCamp it just shows up.

Mac Pro :: Monitor Suddenly Has No Input
I have a 2x2.8 QuadCore Mac Pro, 2 GB RAM, OS10.5.6. My Dell Trinitron CRT monitor has been working fine. Now, out of the blue, it says it is not getting a signal. I checked the cords, tried plugging into both ports on the video card...nothing. The monitor seems to be OK because the screen says, in color, that it is not getting a signal. Over a network, I share the screen with my MacBook and the Mac Pro seems fine. I ran diagnostics and everything works, restarted, repaired permissions, ran Onyx. Still nothing. One troubling thing. When I go to "About this Mac", go to "More Info," and select Graphics/Displays "About this Mac" freezes and quits without saying what the card is. Does this sound like a bad video card?

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Get Display With Dell Monitor / Monitor Do Not Show Up In System Profile
I have a brand new 15" MacBook Pro, the DisplayPort to Dual Link adapter, and a Dell 3007WFP monitor. This monitor worked fine with my previous generation MacBook Pro. When I connect it with the Dual Link adapter, I get no signal to the monitor and the adapter and monitor do not show up in the System Profiler, so I have no idea what the adapter firmware is. I've tried this on a current generation 17" MacBook Pro too and get the same result. Has anyone else had this experience? Any fixes?

I've already exchanged the DisplayPort to Dual Link adaptor once and the new one does the exact same thing. The MacBook Pro works fine connected to a 24" Dell monitor with the standard DisplayPort to DVI adaptor.

OS X :: Blue Screen With Dual Monitor / MBP Updated From 10.5.2 To 10.5.4
My MBP was updated from 10.5.2 to 10.5.4 (combined update) this morning and, after the installation finished, it rebooted into a blue screen. I restarted it several times and always went into blue screen.

Now, the interesting part is that this is not the "blue screen after install" problem others are experiencing. If I disconnect the external monitor during restart and wait for OS X to start everything works fine. After OS X starts properly I can even reconnect the external monitor and it works fine. In fact I am writing this post from my MBP using the external monitor right now.

Since some document on the Apple Support website was suggesting to remove the file ApplicationEnhancer.bundle in System/Library/SystemConfiguration when experiencing blue screens after the install of 10.5.4, I did look in that folder for that file but it's not there...

Power Mac G5 :: Activity Monitor Suddenly Shows One CPU In A Dual 2.0?
I bought a dual 2.0 G5 a few weeks ago. Worked fine til today. I went away for 30 minutes & found the machine frozen with the main fans running full blast. The machine was frozen with a panic.

Two restarts resulted in freezes. The third time it booted.

I checked the startup drive from the utility. It showed ok. Restart.. panic.

I wanted to see what was going on so I opened the activity monitor.

Whee it usually shows two "frames" representing the two processors activity, now only ONE shows.

Did one of my processors just die?

Is it possible for a dual G5 to run in such a state?

I finally restarted & I'm using the computer now.

I'm including the panic log below, if anyone can decipher what it means.

How can I tell if what I didn't think was possible, is possible?

i.e. a dual 2.0 actually runs on only one of the CPU's?

Mac Pro :: Running Two Monitor Displays - Suddenly New Whirring Sound
I have the early 2008 Mac Pro, standard configuration. I run a 30" ACD and recently added a second monitor. Ever since then I have been hearing this faint whirring sound, as if something in the machine is starting/reving up and then whirring down. It's audible to me because I have my machine sitting on top of a pedestal desk right beside my table. Does running two monitors make something inside, maybe a fan, run wierd? Could it be the fan of the video card? I am just curious, as I had not heard the sound before when I was running just one monitor. Oh, and the second monitor in question is a Wacom Cintiq. Video card is the stock ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. I dare not open the side panel when the machine is running to check what's causing it lest I mess something up. It's like, rrrrrrrrrrrrr, rrrrrrr, rrrrrrrrrrr, like a miniature reving sound. LOL, that's the best I can do to imitate the sound. It's as audible as the sound of the regular fans.

OS X Leopard :: Apple Mail Not Refreshing Read Message Statuses (Gmail Imap)
I have the following reproducible bug, when using three different IMAP interfaces to my GMail account: Apple Mail, iPhone Mail, GMail Web

1. Viewing a mail in Apple Mail, causes it to be marked as read in iPhone Mail and GMail Web
2. Viewing a mail in GMail Web, causes it to be marked as read in iPhone Mail, but NOT Apple Mail
3. Viewing a mail in iPhone Mail, causes it to be marked as read in GMail Web, but NOT Apple Mail

In summary, viewing GMail IMAP messages outside of Apple Mail, does not change the message status in Apple Mail. It seems like the 'read' flag is correctly being set by all apps (or rather by the IMAP protocol on GMail's side) as the process is fine between iPhone Mail and GMail web. I think that Apple Mail is not refreshing the 'read' flags. This is further proved by closing Apple Mail and relaunching, which causes all 'read' flags to be refreshed and show the correct statuses.

OS X Leopard :: Leopard "Blue Screen Of Death" - Total System Crash?
Recently I've experienced that my mac freezes when I start to do some heavy work, like video-editing or Photoshop. A re-install solved the problem for around two weeks, before the same thing happend again yesterday:During a update of Final Cut Studio, my Mac suddenly freezes, and I had to do a forced quit. After this reboot my mac got to a blue screen (after the loading-apple-screen), and nothing more.

After around 14 reboots, I decided to do a archive and re-install. This re-install took 14 HOURS, and now it stops at the loading Apple-logo.Tryed to verify the disc with the Disk Utility software, showed up fine. Tryed to repair the permissions - came up some errors (apparently some missing files(?), before it said that it was fixed. Finally I tryed an extended hardware test - showed up nothing wrong.

Then I got the idea that I maybe could make a 2nd partition of the harddrive, preserving the exsisting data, and install Leopard on that new one. But when I try to install Leopard on this, I get an estimated 21 hours of time to install.I've also tryed to boot from a Linux-bootable USB-stick I use with my Acer-PC, but it refuse to boot from that.So I'm pretty much stuck right now. When I try to open the machine in Single User Mode, it tells me a bunch of errors, before the following lines is repeated:disk0s2: I/O error. 0 Level 3 ReadUID 0 [URL] ErrType I0 I0Type Read PBlkNum 373453728 LBlkNum 1356 FSLogMsgID 591622195 FSogMsgOrder First 0 Level 3 ReadUID 0 [URL]FSLogMsgID 5916221951 FSLogMsgOrder LastCould it be the harddrive, the RAM, or something completly else?

So, I changed it, and logged in to the alt account again to see it was okay. I want to my main account and used screenlock, and noticed on the login screen (I logged out of the account after I saw to see this same thing) it was the light bluer white balance. So I logged in and calibrated AGAIN and it finally when back to the default on the login screen (2:2 or something and native white balance) and my preferences for my accounts (television gamma, and native white balance) I just want it system wide to be:

-2:2 TELEVISION GAMMA

-Native White Gamma

Or at-least the login screen, and my two accounts, and that settings to be the system wide default.

IMac Intel :: New Imac Core I7 Monitor Has Left Side Darker Than Right Suddenly
I've had the machine for nearly two weeks now and I wake up this morning and boot up to find that the left side of the screen is noticeably darker and almost has a yellowish tinge as compared to the absolute white right side. This discrepancy is most noticeable when viewing brighter or white material such as the background of any website or text document. This is simply unacceptable for a new machine I just shelled out for. It was working one minute and now I find that the display has this split hemisphering problem where the left side is darker than the right when viewing brighter or white material.

I have apple care thankfully. I need this issue resolved... is there something I can do on my end to recalibrate the monitor so that both sides are displaying properly? Is there a software update coming that can fix this problem? Is it really necessary to replace hardware? Do I get it repaired or replaced? How much would it cost? How long would it take?I trust I'm not alone on this one. I've spent the last two weeks getting my machine up and running and I hate the idea that I'm going to have to send it away for long or have it replaced. What's the word regarding this issue? It's driving me insane now.
