OS X Leopard :: MAIL Won't Accept Correct Password?

When trying to open my [URL] POP email account in MAIL, I am prompted to enter my account password (even though it is already entered in the Mail Account set-up). After entering the password, MAIL tells me that the POP server rejected the password - even though when I access my email account through a browser, the password works fine.

MobileMe :: Mail Won't Accept Password Even Though It Is Correct?
Something is wrong with my mail client. Even though I am 100% certain that the password is correct (I get mail on my iPhone and when I log onto iCloud site), my mail will not accept the password. I've tried even to delete the account and set it up again, but that doesn't work either.

ICloud :: Mail Won't Accept Its Password
I just switched to iCloud from MobileMe, and my Mail program now tells me that my password is not correct. I've gone so for as to delete the account and add it again, and it still will not accept the password. I know the password is correct, it works on this site, as well as directly in iCloud, and on my iPhone, it's only the Mail program that it won't work in.

I've opened a secondary email account and Mail won't accept the password.  I can send OK but not receive.  But when I check with bigpond online the test emails are both sent and received but only sent through Mail - tried changing the password many times, quitting app, restart, and even delete that mail account and reenter - all to no avail

I have a Dual 2ghz PowerPC G5.I'm positive the password is correct because I enter it all the time in my other mac hardware/applications. I tried deleting the mail account them re-adding it, it still rejects my password. I can't update any of my software (nothing is available).  I've tried restarting the computer.Safari still works. All my other apps still work.   I selected PowerMac as the product on the pulldown menu, I hope that's the same as PowerPC. Snow Leopard :: SMB Fileshare Refuses To Accept Correct Password
I have a problem with smb filesharing. I enter the correct combination of user name and password but it just wont accept it. I think the problem is rooted in unsupported characters in the username. In the Norwegian/Danish alphabet we have 3 extra letters, . It just so happens my name contains one of these letters, of course my username does as well. Does any one have a way around this, without changing my username?

Snow Leopard :: SSH On SL Won't Accept Password?
I upgraded recently straight from Tiger to Snow Leopard.

I used to be able to SSH into this computer remotely, but now when I try it tells me my password is invalid...tried several times, and I know I'm using the right one (caps lock, etc). I confirmed the SSHD is running and that in Sharing my user has authorization to log in remotely (all users are authorized).

Is this expected? Any workarounds?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: ICloud Won't Accept Password
I followed Roger Wilmot's clear instructions to migrate to iCloud using Snow Leopard:  [URL]

But having set up the account, iCloud in Apple Mail will not accept the password. I have checked, and the password is the correct one, which gets me into MobileMe correctly. I have not deleted my MobileMe mail account, and that is still working properly, and accepting the password. The password is a new one, which complies with 8 characters, at least one capital, and at least one numeral.

MacBook :: 2008 Aluminum Will Not Accept Correct Password At Login
My macbook ran out of battery two days ago. When I restarted it had all my data and files, but the settings had been reset (i.e. my screen saver, dock, expose, etc had all been reset to the original settings). A day later, the macbook froze and I tried to restart it. It now goes to the login page with my user ID but does not accept my correct password. Instead, the rainbow pinwheel spins for a few minutes before the login window shakes and then clears my entered password, as if it does not accept the password. After a few repeated tries, it offered me my password hint. I know my password is the same one I've always used.

I've just installed a clean SL. It's worked fine, but I'm trying to use Disk Utility and it won't let me erase another partition, verify disk permissions or anything! When I try to, it tells me to type my name and password, I do that, and it gives me ''You must type an administrators name and password to make changes to disk utility''. But I just gave it my name and password! I've tryed logging out, and it let me log back in and accepted me no worries, but it won't let me use disk utility or system preferences!

I hadn't even turned it off it had been in sleep mode. it doesn't give me the option of using the 'shared' account it just has my account and a space for the password. I have gone into the 'single user mode' and followed the instructions from other people having similar probs (changing the password to "password" etc) but that doesn't work. I don't have any of the original disks as I'm currently living in France and everything is back home in UK and desperatley need my mac to buy xmas presents for people online!

Software :: Iphone Wifi - Won't Accept Password?
Stumped on this one.

My son's iPhone will not log on to our wireless.

I have 2 Macs, an iPad and a PC that all access our home wireless without any problem.

His iPhone did access it also, now after entering the correct key it fails to log on.

Have tried resetting the iPhone twice, checked to make sure the pass key hasn't somehow changed, but nothing works.

The phone logs on to other wifi networks without a hitch.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Installer Won't Accept My Admin Password
For the past month or so, any time I've tried to go through the process of installing an app that requires Installer to do the work, when it comes time to enter my admin password, nothing happens. The password box pops up, I enter the correct password (as when I enter an incorrect one it does its "incorrect password shake-thing") and, like always, the admin password box disappears. Normally at this point, the installer continues on to install the app, but instead it does absolutely nothing. I can click "Install" again to enter the password, but, again, nothing happens. I've tried changing my password, deleting preference files, doing a disk repair and permissions repair - nothing.

OS X Leopard :: Mail Won't Remember Password
Mail requests passwords for each of my email addresses every time I start it (for incoming and outgoing servers meaning the same password twice for each account). When I enter the passwords I check the "store in keychain" option. Checking this option does nothing, as the password is required next time I start Mail. This problem only began occurring after I upgraded to Leopard.

It should also be noted that I store the password in the email account info preference pane, and after saving the preferences and reopening them, the password field is blank again.

OS X :: Mail Refusing To Accept Updated Gmail Password
so after my friend got his gmail account hacked I decided it was time for a new password. Updated it in gmail, on my iphone and iPad and no problems. However friggin' Mac Mail refuses to accept the new password. I even wrote it out in Text Edit and pasted it into both the gmail web interface and mac mail. Gmail web interface works just fine but Mac Mail refuses to accept the new password.

Is there any way I can fix this save for deleting my gmail account and recreating it(something I am want to do since I have a metric ton of messages).

Oy, Apple ignoring these tiny bugs is getting quite annoying....

For what its worth I'm on 10.6.4 and everything else is up to date.

Update, now I'm getting "The server returned the error: Web login required. (Failure)"

but it doesn't clear when I log into the web mail....

OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Mail Rejecting Mac Password And Won't Retrieve Messages
Mail has worked flawlessly for me for several years. But this week, it stopped loading (retrieving) my messages from my .mac/me/iCloud service. For some reason, my .mac account in Mail is offline. When I try to take it back online, mail tells me that my password isn't being accepted. (But it works just fine if I go to my iCloud account and use it to log on and check my mail there. And it's no prob retrieving my mail on my iPhone, either.)

(I have several other e-mail accounts set up in Mail, and they work just fine. Only my .mac/me/iCloud account stopped working.)I've tried to change various settings in the preferences for the account, but it's been to no avail. Some of the various error messages I've received after trying to fix the prob:And here are info panels I see when I check the account in Mail's preferences:Note how port 993 is greyed out here; it's not greyed out for my other email accounts (and it's the same port w/ those, too).

OS X Leopard :: MacMini Won't Accept Boot Commands
My MacMini recently had a fresh Leopard installation. Yesterday it wouldn't open any applications (click icon on dock and it would load the application and immediately quit) so I rebooted the machine. Now it boots, displays the apple symbol, blue screen and then Leopard standard background, the mouse cursor toggles between mouse pointer and colourful circle. Here it stops!

I have attempted to use the boot commands such as Command-T to access it via firewire but it ignores all commands (I cannot even boot from a bootable installation DVD). I have tested the keyboard and it isn't that.
