OS X Leopard :: Flash Player Slow In Browsers?

I use Firefox 3, but the same applies for my Safari browser. Flash players always play very slowly, for no reason whatsoever. It doesn't matter the site, they are all maybe twice as slow as other computers.

Software :: Flash Player Crashing Browsers?
Yesterday, a web site that I use frequently suggested that I upgrade my Flash Player and gave me a link to do so. Ever since I downloaded and installed the new version, any time the Flash starts to load, the browser crashes.

I downloaded the Uninstall for Flash, unintalled it, restarted from my Install Disc and repaired the permissions as suggested. Then I restarted, installed the new version of Flash Player (with all browsers off!) but as soon as I accessed a web site and needed to use Flash, the browser crashed (both Safari and Firefox). Is there a solution or am I just out of luck now?

Mac Safari :: Flash Player Crashing All Browsers
Computer in question is grandkids 17" G5 running 10.5.8, not as shown in profile This appears to be a fairly common problem and, as such, have tried virtually all the suggestions from previous posts. Uninstalled, installed, reset Safari, moved plug-ins out and back in one at a time and on it goes. I'd include crash report given the circumstances but not sure how to do that. What is my next step?

OS X :: MySpace Music Player Display Options With Newest Versions Of Flash And Browsers?
For some reason, when I go to listen to a band's music on MySpace, the player will load and play the music, but it won't show the song titles, and the little visualizer thing on the player all moves as one big blue block, rather than looking like a waveform. I downloaded the latest version of Flash, and I'm having this problem with both Firefox 3.5.5 and Safari 4.0.4.

Mac Safari :: Flash Player Based Website Or Youtube Video Too Slow
I've had this problem ever since I can remember, and I'm not sure why. Anytime a website has flash on it, whether it be a flash-based website or a Youtube video, Safari cannot handle it. Although Safari rarely crashes when it comes to something that is flash-based, it is VERY jerky and slow. For example, with a Youtube video, if I were to have the entire video load/buffer and then press play, the video would be jerky and lagging, but the audio would work just fine.

With a flash-based website, Safari is very jerky with the image, but the audio is fine. Take [URL] for example. When the site loads, the music starts and plays just fine, but the image of the hat flying across the screen is jerky, and it takes much longer than it should to get to its final position before all the confetti comes flying out of the hat (also very slowly). Additionally, the text in the upper left hand corner of the screen ascends very slowly and jerkily, rather than quickly and smooth................

OS X :: Flash Performance In Snow Leopard In Different Browsers?
I just noticed that playing YouTube Video in Safari or Google Chrome the CPU usage is not less than 70-75 % on both cores ( MacBook 2.4ghz unibody with SL 10A432 32bit kernel ).

On Firefox the CPU usage on the same YouTube video is no more than 40-45% on both cores.

Anyone else notice this ?

I guess it may happen because flash plugin is 32 bit and used in some sort of sandbox in Safari now because Safari is 64bit and flash plugin is 32 bit ( in Chrome everything run in sanbox and I got the same CPU usage on Leopard ).

Firefox is 32 bit application as Flash is and I'm guessing thats why it uses less CPU.

Snow Leopard :: Way Browsers Operate With Adobe Flash
New Flash Attack Has No Real 'Fix'
Researchers show how Adobe Flash can be exploited in browsers when victim visits sites that accept user-generated content
Nov 12, 2009 | 08:52 PM

Researchers have discovered a new attack that exploits the way browsers operate with Adobe Flash -- and there's no simple patch for it.The attack can occur on Websites that accept user-generated content -- anything from Webmail to social networking sites. An attacker basically takes advantage of the fact that a Flash object can be loaded as content onto a site and then can execute malware from that site to infect and steal information from visitors who view that content by clicking it.

"Everyone is vulnerable to this, and there's nothing anyone can do to fix it by themselves," says Michael Murray, CSO for Foreground Security, which today posted demonstrations of such an attack against Gmail, SquirrelMail, and cPanel's File Manager. "We're hoping to get a message out to IT adminstrators and CIOs to start fixing their sites one at a time."and wonder if this is a Windows specific issue or is it a risk to OS X, also(not sure if this is the correct sub-forum, I searched but couldn't find a forum at this site dealing with security related questions)

Snow Leopard :: Flash Crashes All Browsers After 10.6.5 Update
I started this thread because the one at was marked Answered.

Immediately after updating to 10.6.5 (incremental from 10.6.4), Firefox started crashing on the 2nd or 3d window load. Switching to Safari, I experienced the same behavior, but with a helpful error dialog identifying the Flash plug-in as the culprit.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, no help. I used OnyX to rebuild permissions and do a host of other maintenence things, some of which I didn't even really understand, but no help. (That was one of the proposed fixes at the other thread that apparently worked for someone, though I can't be sure he had the same OnyX settings as I did). I eventually re-installed Snow Leopard from disk, then did the Combo updater, then installed Flash fresh. Still no help.

I've installed the previous version of the Flash plug in(flashplayer10_1r82_76_ub_mac.dmg) and now am not crashing anymore, but given all the security concerns around Flash, I don't see this as a workaround I want to trust for long.

Anything else I can try to do to get the current Flash plugin to work with 10.6.5? Others have apparently had the issue but solved it through one of the techniques above, and clearly others aren't having it at all. My only other course of action is to wait for the next System update and hope the conflict is gone, but since this appears to be a limited problem, not holding my breath that will be the answer.

OS X Leopard :: Browsers Crashing Presumably Due To Evil Flash-based Content?
I haven't had a problem with flash-based content until a couple days ago, when I installed a bundle of software updates, including 10.5.7. Since then, I have tried to access flash based content, such as pandora internet radio, youtube videos, and the standard view of gmail. On Opera, Safari, and Firefox, (all in which flash-based content worked before) I was left with the spinning rainbow of grief!

I have disabled the plugins for Shockwave Flash, which allows me to get around but denies me the ability to view videos or listen to music, which frankly is pretty ridiculous. So I proceeded to find some other means for me to have access without the spinning wheel of horror!

So I uninstalled the Flash 10 that I had, and installed and older Flash version: MAC 9,0,47,0 Now, I enabled the Shockwave Flash plugin, and I am able to view videos on youtube and google video. However, I am not able to listen to music on Myspace (claims I need the newest version 10), Pandora, or Gmail in standard view. So...the spinning wheel strikes again.

I am completely frazzled, and have read countless articles, each leading me nowhere, but more frustrated with Apple and their products. I have come to the conclusion that the browser, nor the sites are the problem.

The problem originates either from Macromedia Flash, OR the Software Update bundle Apple insisted that I install. I have a suspicion it's the latter. I know other people have been having similar problems with their Macbooks.

I've also noticed that Expose and Spaces are having very sluggish response times.

I have a panasonic DVD(DMR-Ez28) player with USB Divx support. I tried a USB flash with divx files, which had been used on my Mac, and the player recognized it but said "no files". So I formatted the USB flash to FAT32 on my Mac and same issue. So I reformatted it on a PC, copied files to it on the PC, works great, see all the files and watched the divx , no issues. I then took the working flash, and mounted it on my mac, then copied over one file, the DVD player now does not see any files.

OS X :: Flash Freezes All Browsers?
I searched for this, but I have not been able to find any solution to the issue of Flash freezing browsers on Leopard. A number of people seem to be having this issue with Flash 10.

I have a MacBook with 10.5.6 and all updates, and the latest flash from Adobe.

Using Safari or Firefox, I am unable to display sites with flash. For example, when going to [URL] the page begins to load, and hangs at the end, with a spinning cursor. Only option is to force quit.

Deleting flash allows the page to display, but obviously w/o flash.

Reinstalling flash (version 9 or 10), brings back the freeze.

Other machines I have (MBP) with the same software, work fine.

Creating a new user has the same issue.

Restart, and Repairing permissions has no effect...

Everything was working fine last night, and nothing significant has changed since then.

OS X :: Flash Crashing All Browsers?
I have a new 13" macbook pro. I updated to the new flash and now every time I go to a page that contains flash, my browser crashes. I've tried on safari, firefox and I'm currently on Chrome. I have no idea what to do. Everything else works fine it's just when I go on a site containing flash it crashes. I wanted to watch a stream from ustream and every time I went on the site it crashed. I've never been on that site, but I'm guessing they use flash. So, I downloaded the latest flash and now it's even worst. What do I do? The program actually freezes, but I can't do anything so I have to force quit it. Except Chrome I only need to exit the tab, I think.

OS X :: Shock Wave Flash / Flash Player Will Not Load
I have upgraded from a OX 2.8 to 3.9. I now have to use two browsers to use the internet. Safari to have access to my yahoo mail account, and fire fox 2.020 to load information on my business website.

I have not been able to use shockwave flash or flash player on the up load. When I was using OSX 2.8 I could add pictures to my business website and etc., I had no problem viewing the slide show I had on my website, other than the system was a little slow. I have an ibook G3 128 +512 ram, total. 900 mhz, 12. inches and white case. The systems requirements indicate that I need to upgrade to tiger OSX 4.0

I know there are some issues using Fire Fox with OSX 3.9. When ever I tried to access my yahoo mail from Fire fox, the system would crash.

Other than getting a new laptop, any suggestions? I tried to down load Shock wave from the old apps web site called Camino. I get an error message that the plug in cannot be loaded sussfully I have tried load flash Player 7.09, but get a message that it can not load. Could this be because of not enough space on the drive. Maybe I am not loading it correctly. Shouldn't I be able to click it to install it in the right place without having to try the different files.

OS X :: Flash In 10.6.2 Causing Hanging Browsers?
Every time I navigate to a page that has Flash elements into it (e.g. YouTube), Safari hangs and my computer beach balls. I can't view any pages with Flash elements in them (or at least pages that have multiple Flash elements) without Safari freezing and causing me to kill Safari through Force Quit.

To try to fix this problem, I reset Safari (resetting every available option), repaired permissions, restarted, and nothing worked. Then I used the Flash uninstaller from Adobe's website to uninstall Flash, then reinstall a fresh copy which did not work.

I reinstalled Snow Leopard, updated all of my system's software, and then tried to view [URL] and the same problem still occurred.

Now I originally thought that the Safari 4.0.4 update caused the problem. However - after I reinstalled Snow Leopard and updated to 10.6.2, I downloaded to Camino to see if YouTube would work, but to my surprise it didn't. The same exact problem I'm having with Safari (entire browser freezing when viewing a page with Flash such as YouTube) is also happening with a 3rd-party browser (Camino).

This leads me to believe that 10.6.2 may be the source of the problem (as I never had this problem with 10.6.1), not the 4.0.4. I cannot go on websites with Flash elements in them, even with a 3rd-party browser.

Snow Leopard :: No Adobe Flash Player
I took delivery of a new 21.5" iMac from the Apple online store on Friday. Previously I was a PC user (but I've seen the error of my ways!). When I've gone to some websites using Safari I'm informed that I need Adobe Flash Player to view certain images. Reading this forum, I went to HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins and discovered that I do not have Adobe's Flash Player listed. My question is: If I download Flash and use it on my iMac will I be making my computer vulnerable to viruses and crashes?

OS X :: Uploading Crashes Browsers - Java And Flash
I have a Macbook 2.4ghz core 2 duo running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I've been having massive problems when uploading files both on a Wireless and LAN connection. When I try and upload to a site like myspace, facebook or anyother site with uploading options my upload times out and/or crashes the browser for a while (this is for larger files whereas photos don't upload in full). This seems to be primarily with flash/java upload options and happens when using Safari, Firefox and Opera. So far I've re-installed 10.6.2 and repaired disk permissions and also re-installed flash and none of these options makes any difference. I know it's not a network issue as it works perfectly on my 1ghz e-mac running Leopard Anyone got any solutions? It's completely baffled me.

MacBook :: Audio Skipping When Using Flash In All Browsers?
So this is a problem that's been bugging me for half a year or so. Usually, I start up a video on Youtube or the like and for about 2-3 minutes it runs smoothly, but after that, the audio skips a bit (kind of like a record skipping) and the RAM spikes. After the hiccup, it tends to run normally, but after a few seconds, it'll skip again and occasionally, the audio will degrade and all audio played back through the browser sounds heavily distorted until I restart.

I used to run Firefox, but when this problem popped up, I would get this:

so I switched to Opera, which worked for a little while, but the problem came back. I tried Safari and Chrome, but it's still there.

Snow Leopard :: Flash And DVD Player Freeze
After roughly a day of my MacBook Pro being on, flash video starts causing all browsers to freeze systematically (pinwheel until force quit). Non-video flash content plays normally. A reboot always solves the problem, and it always returns after another day or so.It's been 2 weeks, and since then I've noticed that as flash videos start freezing up browsers, DVD player also freezes up when trying to play a DVD, and After Effects gets stuck on loading (Initializing Media Core). The reboot resets all those symptoms.

Seems to me that something is wrong with OS-wide video playback. I'm not absolutely positive that Flash is causing the problem, but I feel that it is.

What is happening is every time I view a myspace page with a music player, I get the color wheel that spins and spins forcing me to Force Quit of of firefox. It occasionally happens with other flash sites like Youtube. When I restart my computer, it works great for about 5 minutes, then starts doing it again. So I got a thing called Flashblock that allows me so click on the flash object I'd like to see. So when I go to a bands myspace to listen to music, I click on it the flash object, and bam, frozen with the color wheel. It seems as if I'm not the only one with this problem.
