OS X Leopard :: Dashboard Icon Disappeared From Dock - Restore?

I already tried making an alias icon and placing it down on the dock but when I accessed it one of the "widgets" would not quit unless I restarted the computer. How do I get the Dashboard icon back to functioning normally and to where it belongs so that I can access widgets it in the customary fashion ( by clicking the mouse etc)?

OS X Leopard :: Dashboard Disappeared From Dock - Unable To Put Back
I accidentally dragged Dashboard out of Dock and it didn't stay on the desktop it just vanished. I can still get it to open using the F4 key but when I try to fetch it back to the Dock I find it isn't in Applications; Library; or anywhere on the hard drive. I've tried finder but that only gets a Dashboard folder which is empty so it can't be dragged back to the Dock. It hasn't been put in the Trash and I haven't emptied the Trash. So where is the dashboard hiding? I don't often use it and F4 is a good enough way to open it but it's annoying to find something can so easily be dragged out of the dock when I was using another application and had forgotten to Hide the Dock with alt cmd D operation. The dock does seem to be a very "touchy" system.

OS X Leopard :: Dashboard Icon Won't Stay In Dock
on iMac Intel 10.5.8. My Dashboard icon won't stay in the Dock. When I drag it from the Applications folder to the dock, it remains for a couple of seconds, then automatically disappears. Why is this happening? (FYI, the dashboard functionality seems to work fine. When I click on the icon (in the applications folder, the widgets open fine.) I must be doing something incorrectly.

OS X Leopard :: User Icon Disappeared From Dock?
First, I accidentally "poofed" my fan-out folder that's next to the trash (i.e. pulled it off the dock and it disappeared). I tried to restore it by dragging the little house icon with my user ID from a Finder window, but it just "poofed" that as well! Although I can still find my files if I do a search for them, I don't know how to access them directly.

OS X Leopard :: Dashboard Crashes Dock Every Time
An odd thing happened to me today: I was checking the weather, via the weather widget, and when I tried to return to the document I was working on, the widget followed me. So I went back to kill the dashboard via another widget, whereupon another weather widget followed me. And so on. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't kill the widgets: not from the terminal (neither killall on the DashboardClient nor killall on the Dock), not from the Activity Monitor, not even when I trashed all related plists and doublechecked that Dashboard developer mode was off. I repaired permissions, rebuilt directories...nothing worked; everytime I rebooted, the dashboard appeared on my desktop and wouldn't go away.

In desperation, I erased the weather widget (the first one to follow me from the dashboard to the desktop) and this worked...up to a point. Now, whenever I try to launch the dashboard, all I get is a notice that the dock has crashed. Even if I restart the dock, trash all the plists again, etc, etc (as above), there's no change. I'm mystified. I didn't do anything unusual to instigate this behavior, save for recently upgrading to 10.5.7, though I used that for several days without issue.

OS X Leopard :: Dock Malfunctioning - Lost Trash Icon - Can't Delete App Icon
1. The Trash icon has disappeared from my Dock. I have tried "killall Dock" via Terminal, and have also deleted com.apple.dock.plist from /Home/Library/Preferences. I have also done a re-start. After these interventions, when the Dock has dutifully re-launched - losing all the app icons I had previously placed there in the process - the Trash icon was still not present.

2. Neither can I delete app icons from the Dock. They "appear" to delete - vanishing in a little cloud of puff - but then the Dock appears to restart (disappears downwards and then reappears) and the app icon is back where it was before.

Also after every word i write, a pop up says 'alert cannot contact spell checker,' When i open safari i also cannot get it back to finder, and i can't search anything on the computer because after the second letter the screen flashes.

It started this morning i tried to write something in stickies and the computer went crazy to a blue screen and the loading circle started spinning around so i shut it down, when i loaded it up i had all these problems.

I have iBook g4 from 2005. What should i do, i don't know anything about computers. I tried searching online i tried to use killall Dock in terminal it didn't work, it said no matching processes were found.

OS X :: Spotlight Icon Disappeared In Leopard?
Leopard had been working fine for me until this morning. Last night, when shutting down, I did software update and installed some update concerning Password Keychains. A few hours earlier, I installed some Software for my Harmony Remote and it said something like I did not have Administrative Access to the Apps folder.

Now, Spotlight has disappeared from my Desktop - see attachment.

I have tried all of the suggestions here: (Can't paste the link because now my Copy Paste isn't working). (OSX Daily Spotlight help page)

What's going on here?? No spotlight, no copy paste? (I have restarted, but it didnt change anything)

Edit: I also can't drag items from my desktop to my trashcan. I beginning to think these issues are about to snowball...

OS X Leopard :: Finder / Dock And App Windows Disappeared
I was trying to add a recent apps stack using a terminal tip I read in maclife and when I typed killall Dock, the dock dissapeared and application windows stopped opening. I can launch apps in spotlight and they open in the menu bar but the app window doesn't open. So I have no finder or anything. All I can do is search in spotlight and use terminal. The dock.app doesn't show up on spotlight so maybe it got deleted. Is there any way to restore it in terminal?

OS X Leopard :: OS X Icon Disappeared After BootCamp Partitioning
I recently installed a 640GB hard drive in my Macbook Pro and transferred all my OS, apps, etc., from another drive. I then used bootcamp to partition 20GB of space for Windows. Initially the partition went fine. I was able to set size parameters and Bootcamp did its thing. However, when it was complete, the OSX partition icon disappeared from my desktop. Since I cannot see it, I am using my backup hard drive for OSX. If I use system preferences to find my startup options, the OSX partitios that show up are Windows and Backup Drive. No partition on the Macbook Pro. I cannot use the backup disk to run bootcamp on the Macbook Pro, so that doesn't help.

I used the Backup Drive Disk Utility to see if the partition appears. It does not. It shows the 640GB hard drive and "Disk1" which does not correlate to the Windows "untitled" icon I see on my desktop. I also cannot see the MacBook Pro partitions, or erase the hard drive as any/all options are not available. I have started from my Leopard install disks and get the same results. The Macbook profiler shows that the hard drive is installed, but I have "read only" as an option. It is almost like the hard drive is installed, but not available. The Bootcamp instructions state that partitioning will not erase the OSX system, yet it looks like that has happened. I am completely backed up, so I am safe there, but I am lost as to what to do now.

OS X Leopard :: Bluetooth Disappeared - Icon Missing In Top Toolbar On Desktop
I have just installed OS X 10.5.7 on a 15" PowerBook G4 1,25 ghz. The installation went well, OS X works well and all seemed to be just great. However, I have discovered that I no longer have Bluetooth, in the sense that it is not registered under System Preferences and naturally the icon is missing in the top toolbar on the desktop. The computer as such has Bluetooth installed (worked under OS X 10.4.xx), which suggests that it may be a driver issue of some kind. I have noticed from other posts on the forum that people have had issues with Bluetooth after updating to 10.5.7, but these mostly relate to erratic connection and not total disappearance. Installation procedure: Erase & install 10.5 -> 10.5.7 comboupdate -> other updates through Software Update. Repair disk permissions have been run several times. Does anyone have a clue what to do or do I just have to wait for a bug-fix from Apple?
