Mar 25, 2012On the App Store I saw an item CleanMyDesktop but folks complained it didn't get all file types. So I thought I'd try it with my modest Automator abilities: FIND, FILTER, MOVE TO FOLDER...BUT...but it only works if there are files of that type on the desktop, so if there happens to be no pics, the application stops right there, or if there are no docs, it stops there, etc.But if I put an item of each file type on the Desktop, sure enough it runs all the way to the conclusion. So how can I fix this? Tell it to move on even if there are no items of that type of MOVE. 'Cause right now it ain't good. I tried this to clean my Desktop and now I'm tossing junk all over the Desktop so the app can finish.

Feb 21, 2012I want to keep my school files on desktop two so they are all in the same place, and use desktop one as a place to perhaps save photos or other files not school related. When I swipe between desktops, the school files move between the desktops as I swipe but I want to keep them on one desktop all the time.

Oct 18, 2010So over the last month or 2, I have been having this issue where my MBP (early 2008) will act as though the desktop doesnt exist. I can see it, everything functions normally, all programs operate fine, I can use spaces, expose, etc, but when I try to interact with my desktop, nothing works. I cant highlight folders, I can click on anything. Anyone know what might be causing this?

I usually keep my desktop empty and use it to store stuff I'm going to process in the next hour anyway.
Sometimes my desktop is absolutely empty, but when I navigate to the following path: UserDesktop, the files do show up.

I don't have any noticeable problems yet I know a lot of people wipe their computer clean, back-up any important programs and files, and then re-install their OS. Do a lot of people do this?
I kind of want to but it's my first time doing it so I don't want to mess anything up or forget something I need, etc.
OS X :: How Can I Use The UTD For A Clean Install?
Sep 4, 2009I am getting my UTD disc next week sometime, and I would like to know how to do a clean install with it.
Before I would put the disc in, then go into the install process through finder, the computer would reboot, and then I could access disc utility from the top bar and just erase my disc.
Then I would continue and install the new OS on my blank hard drive. With the UTD disc, I hear people saying that you have to delete a file on the disc? Which file is this?
