Jun 21, 2009How do I change the bookmark icons for each website manually? I've noticed some of the website icons change automatically in the Bookmarks bar but others do not.

Aug 15, 2005Can Safari be configured to display bookmark icons in the bookmark bar? I love having that feature in Firefox. I like having just the icon in my bookmark bar; that way, I can fit in more bookmarks and it's less cluttered.Does anyone know how to display bookmark icons in the bookmark bar in Safari? Can you get different skins for Safari so that I could get that feature?

Apr 9, 2012Safari shows websites' names in the bookmark bar (instead of icons). They are all grey against a grey background, which is really uninspiring.
On PC it is possible to display websites icons (in their original colour). In fact the default mode is icon. Anyway to to do that on Safari / Mac?

Mar 20, 2012I place document icons in my finder sidebar, and sometime later they change to folder icons. Does not matter which application they come from, it seems to happen to them all, but they are still linked to the correct documents.

Apr 16, 2012I'm currently using crashplan as an online backup service. Crashplan uses port 443 to send its backup data to its servers. I need to figure out a way to differentiate crashplan traffic so that I can create a QoS rule in my router to assign it a low priority, and I'm not quite sure how to do this.
I can't use a mac address, since that would deprioritize the whole computer. I can't use port 443, because that would flag a huge amount of other traffic as well that I don't necessarily want de-prioritized. Currently, crashplan does not offer a way to change the port it uses.
Applications :: Won't Change Play Count In ITunes Manually
Sep 12, 2010I'm looking to find a way to change the play count for a track in iTunes other than manually skipping the song to the last second each time. Since I'm sure someone will want to know why, well, I have an 88 play count for a U2 song that was in 128kb but I just bought a newer version at 256 and want to replace the old one. I'd like to keep the 88 plays and apply it to the new, higher quality track and delete the old version. It would be tedious skip to the last second, then repeat, 88 times. I've done it this way for up to 20 plays but this is too much.
Since it apparently can't be done by using the mouse and doing it inside the program, from what I can tell, does anyone know any sort of workaround that could get this accomplished?

Jun 22, 2014I have a bookmarked a reputable company for easy access.Log-in icon, easy and secure, no problems.Weeks ago, I entered a wrong password, and a page stating "error" appeared. log-in was successful when reset and again, secure, and safe.
Now this page is still appearing any time I press the log-in button to access the secure logging in page, when I go to bookmark. OK, I removed the whole bookmark from safari, accessed the general web site of the company, and whenever I try to access the log-in page, (not even bookmarked!) I immediately get the same error page!, again and again, without even entering any data or user name or attempted password. This "error" page must have been stored somewhere on my MBA.How can I remove this and start a fresh bookmark?

Oct 11, 2010Ok so I am new to mac and I would like to change my icons on my dock but for some reason only one pack I have downloaded so far has worked. All the other sets I've tried (3 or 4) come up with the preview icon when I try to copy them onto the default icons. OS X :: Can't Change File Icons?
Jun 19, 2007Downoaded a pack of icons and been trying to replace certain folder icons with the new ones.
I command click and choose 'getInfo' on the icon file I want, but when I select the icon in the getInfo window, copy is greyed out in the edit menu.
I am the only user on my macbook pro and therefore have administration rights. I've checked the permissions of rellevent files and all are set to read/write.

Dec 12, 2009I have a couple of software word processing applications that just show a bent upper corner on a blank sheet with the letters 'TXT' on the bottom for an icon in Snow Leopard. How can I make the application (any application) display a custom icon unique to each application instead of the generic looking icon (described above), when I save a file. I also am now getting a similar bent corner icon ...with XLS when I save an Excel file ...instead of the one it used to generate when I was using Tiger. The default icon in Tiger had a green colored header on the top of the default icon when you saved a file. It also had the Excel icon in the upper left corner. I can see the default icon for Excel when I do the get info ...but it doesn't display like that when I have the file in a folder. How can I get it to display the correct icon when in icon view in a folder? I know how to change an icon to a custom one individually ...or quantities all at once by copy and paste in Get Info window. I'm wanting to have the application 'create' the desired icon when I am finished making a new file from an application by itself without having to copy/paste to change it to the one I want.

Sep 28, 2010I have went to /system/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources to reach the Finder icon for the dock. I replaced it with the icon I want (Replacing it) but it won't change. I went to terminal and typed 'killall Dock' and the dock does refresh, but it doesn't get the new icon. I tried Refinery, Candybar, .What's even weirder is the trash icon, I have also replaced it, but will only show the new icon if you put trash in it/empty the trash. Otherwise, it would still be the original picture

Dec 30, 2010I know this has been addressed before, but the answers didn't work for me, so I posted a reply in that thread but got no responses, so I'm starting over.
With 10.4, all I had to do to change an icon for a folder or website was copy and paste. These were for icons I wanted in my dock to make them easy to find. Otherwise the default seems to be either that ubiquitous satellite dish or a boring documents icon.
But now, even though I can still do the get info/copy & paste routine, and the new icon shows up in the folder or the desktop, when I drag that icon to the dock it reverts to that crummy satellite dish. When I installed 10.6 on my new iMac, it kept some of my dock icons - the ones I had created - and dumped others. And kept me from creating new ones for the dock.

Dec 22, 2007In Leopard, when I try the good old Get Info Copy + Paste method of changing individual icons (for applications or select folders) it doesn't work. Instead, the icon will be changed to an image icon saying "ICNS". This worked in Tiger, why not Leopard?

Mar 3, 2008I am trying to change some folder icons in Leopard.
According the Helpfile, you can just past an image once you open the icon information window and click on the folder image at the top of the info window.
I have tried this and the 'paste' function is always greyed out in the edit menu.
Also, if I drag 'n' drop an image onto the folder image it does change, but the preview does not change.
Does anyone know if there are certain permissions/preferences you have to change before you are able to change icons in leopard?
ps: sorry if this question has been asked before, I searched the forums for 10 mins and couldnt find anything similar.

I want to make my own icons in photoshop and manually change them, the same way you'd do with the log on screen or icon I know about the customize toolbar option, but that doesn't allow you to change the icons, just to arrange them.

Jun 2, 2006I'm using CandyBar to change the icons, and the Dashboard icon is changed under both System and Applications. In Finder it looks like the one I want to change it to, but when I move it into the Dock it just looks like the default icon. The same thing happens with the Finder icon. Any ideas? Oh and to change the iCal icon, is there any way to change the way the icon looks when you have iCal running? It just looks weird to have it look one way when it's closed and change back to the default when it's open.
