I have legally downloaded a live grateful dead show from [URL] and I want to send it to my friend. The show is about 1gb in size so I can't send it in a single email. Is there any way to compress a folder of all of the songs to make it small enough to send?
If not are there any other methods I could use other than sending the files individually?
How to compress my files and folders, as I believe my macbook pro is starting to freeze and caused by having a slow machine, what do I use to compress these files into one folder.

I have hundreds of one-page files to email to a client. I don't seem to be able to understand how to compress them so I can email them. Some of them have photos, so I thought it would be a good idea to keep each compressed file to 20. For example, I thought I followed the instructions correctly when I went to the folder in Word and selected 20 of the files using Command. I didn't open the files or move them or create another folder for them because the instructions didn't tell me to do that. I did right click as the instructions said. Nothing. Obviously, there are some missing steps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to compress (.zip) a RapidWeaver theme to email. The theme is a package of other files and folders including images, stylesheets and scripts. There are no other compressed files within this package or Flash files. When the file has been saved to my desktop, I right click and select "Compress" from the menu. The progress bar gets about 2 thirds along and just freezes. Evidently there is a corrupt file or something in this package, because I have never had this problem before. The package is only 1.6MB in size.
There are about 150 files in this theme. I have looked for any suspect messages in Console.app to try and work out which file is corrupt or causing the problem. But nothing seems to be shown? If I compress the RapidWeaver theme as a GZip file using TarPit, it works fine. But this does not solve the issue of somebody else trying to compress the sent file and hitting the same problem. So my question is how can I work out which file in the package is causing the error?

When I expand the Sent folder in Mail (directly below inbox), all my email folders from my yahoo mail account are there plus Sent.I also have all the same folders listed below that under my email address including sent and sent messages. Some outgoing messages are in "Sent" folder and some in "Sent Messages" folder.Not sure how this happened but I can not delete the folders under sent. I am hesitant to delete the Sent folder.

I have an old mac that is running 10.4. I just bought a new Mac that is running 10.5. I have an external fire wire drive to back up to. Does anyone know of an easy way to migrate all my apps, email folders, settings, docs, etc...? I used to use retrospect express in the past when I have migrated from one comp to another because it was easy... backup complete volume to external drive... restore complete volume to new comp from external drive, but in this case I don't have that option because I bought the new comp on ebay and would like to keep the new operating system with all my stuff from my old comp. I can't seem to figure it out with backup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I want to save a file that somebody has attached to an email, I open the file - but I can only save a version (which I presume saves it back to the email). So I create a duplicate, and choose Save. In Save all I can see of my documents are the most recently used folders - and I can't see any subfolders. Frequently the folder that I want to save in isn't shown - and I can't find any way of revealing it. And if it is shown, I can't see any of the sub folders - so I have to go through the performance of saving it in one place and then opening the folders in Finder and moving it around - a ridiculously long winded task.

I'm trying to move emails from the "On My Mac" section from one mac to my new one. I've successfully transferred the folders from ~/Library/Mail and they show up, but the folders are empty when I open the mail application on my new mac the folders are empty.

What I need is a mail client for my iMac running MAC OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 which I can have Hotmail on which displays and has access to all my personal hotmail folders. So when I update/send emails/move email from one folder to another on my mac they update online and on my business partners (PC), and the same at the other end so it update son my Mac.
I also need to be able to send HTML e-newsletters.
This is for my business with 6000+ email addresses so I don't want to really have to change my works email address and use googlemail instead or something.
Currently I use a combination of Windows Live Mail (its actually pretty good for hotmail) and Outlook 2003 (flakey at times but great and easy for sending HTML emails).
Is this all the compression I can expect to get from compressing an iPhoto folder?
I searched old threads and it seems .JPEG files dont compress as well as other file types. Any advice other than splitting the file up? Shown is the Zip file and the original folder.

I tried using the mac ctrl menu compress and it creates a zip but of the same size. I tried using dropstuff on stuffit to compress but .zip is the same size as original too! This feature was available in Tiger and dropped in Leopard. Actually there is a compress PDF feature (either via an applescript that can be downloaded) or using Quartz filter "reduce filesize". However, when dealing with bitmap figures embedded in the PDF, both solutions in Leopard yield very dissappointing results. Whilst in Tiger, the results were outstanding for both file size reduction and maintaining the bitmap clarity.

I want to compress a PDF I have created. I've been told that in Preview, in the Print dialog box, in the PDF menu there is an option "Compress PDF." That option doesn't appear in my dropdown menu. It doesn't appear in that menu regardless of what program I'm selecting Print from. I have a new MacBook Pro I bought last August with the latest version of Lion. How do I get that compression feature to work on my system?
