MobileMe / Restore :: PK5000 Router - Cannot Access My Work Computer From Home

We recently switched internet services at my work and received a new router/modem to connect to. Back to my Mac had always worked fine until now. It's a Qwest Actiontec PK5000 router. I am connected via LAN, and have NAT and UPnP enabled, yet it still will not work. I can access my home computer from here, but I cannot access my work computer from home. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

MobileMe / Restore :: Is There Any Way To Allow Just ONE Computer Access But Deny All Others
I have enabled Back To My Mac and I have changed my firewall settings on my Netgear D834DGv2 router so that the relevant ports are open so that I can connect remotely. It's all working well, I've tested the connection from various locations, so everything is OK regarding getting B2MM up and running.

My concerns are security-related. I came home today to find that another computer had attempted to connect through UDP 4500. I denied the connection and the request had probably timed out in any case. However, I am still a bit concerned about leaving my computer vulnerable when B2MM is enabled.

I have set up a screen saver password and that works well when I connect remotely via B2MM and I have set up a separate user account specifically for use with B2MM. This account had admin privileges but I'm wondering whether a standard user account would be better from a security point of view.

Obviously, I need to be able to connect with my MacBook remotely but what else can I do to prevent any unauthorized attempts? Is there any way to allow just ONE computer access but deny all others?

MobileMe / Restore :: BTTM Says Router Not UPnP - Compact But Router Says It Is
I'm using a D-Link DI-624 (revC, firmware 2.76) router, which is a supported router per Apple, and the router configuration page is saying UPnP is active, but when I try to start up BTMM, I get the message that BTMM isn't working properly because it needs a router that supports UPnP. I have an Apple-approved router that supports UPnP and that says it's configured to do so, and a BTMM that says it doesn't and/or isn't.

MobileMe / Restore :: BTMM Useless - Where I Can't Control Router
This is more a confirmation post/whine session. I find BTMM mostly useless.

I was hoping that I would be able to use BTMM while road-warrioring for business. But I have yet to find a SINGLE router at any hotel or hotspot that allows BTMM to work. I always get the error message that says that the router must be compatible with NAT Port Mapping Protocol (NAT-PMP) or Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Since I have no control over changing those settings, BTMM is useless.

The only place it works is inside my residence (Time Capsule equipped). And what good is that? (And screen sharing doesn't even work in my residence.)

Has anyone had any success using BTMM in a situation where they don't control the router settings?

MobileMe / Sync :: Sync Folders On My Home Mac For Use At Work, And Work For Use At Home?
I currently use my iDisk as an easy easy way to transfer files and folders I need, either at home or work, so they're available wherever I end up working from. Right now I keep a local copy of iDisk on my drive, and have to continually drag docs and fodlers to the drive to make them available... and it's a SLOOOOW process.

Is there anyway to sync folders outside of the local iDisk folder - say just a folder within my Documents folder - to automatically sync to iDisk? This would save me a TON of time...

MobileMe / Restore :: Remote Access Using Cellular Connection?
Has anyone got "Back to My Mac" to work over a cellular connection (ie: using a HSPA data card or tethered to a cellphone)? I'm using OS X Leopard on my MacBook Pro and cannot get BTMM to work remotely when tethered to my cellphone. I'm able to use the internet as well check email but in "System Preferences/MobileMe/Back to My Mac" the status changes from green to red when ever I tether to my cellphone. I'm not always in range of WIFI or on a LAN so it would be great if I could find a way to get this to work. Especially since I would also like to use the feature to get remote access to my Time Capsule files. Due to the BTMM status being red, not green my Time Capsule doesn't show up in Finder.

MobileMe / Restore :: Cannot Access Time Capsule From WAN?
I have severe difficulties configuring my Time Capsule so that I am able to access it from the internet using my mobile me account. I followed the instructions step-by-step and also tried some alternative solutions using "share over WAN", but could not access the shared files on my drive when connecting from external (internal works fine). Interestingly, when connected to the time capsules guest network, access to the files on the shared drive works fine. As soon as I try to access time capsule from outside, it fails to connect.

The time capsule seems to receive a request from external (excerpt from the log):
Public address reported as XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX to 10.XXX.XXX.XXX:5353
Binding added for udp, XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:32769 to 10.XXX.XXX.XXX:4500 with lifetime 7200
Binding added for udp, XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:32770 to 10.XXX.XXX.XXX:5353 with lifetime 7200
My setup is straight-ahead: TC is connected with its WAN port to a DSL modem and takes over the role as DHCP server and router.

To disconnect Screen Sharing on what is now the remote computer (b), I would have thought I could use the "disconnect" function that appears on the under the Screen Sharing icon in the menu bar, however this only disconnects for a matter of seconds before reconnecting. So I always end up having to open Screen Sharing on the second computer and to have to juggle having two screen sharing sessions open simultaneously.

I am trying to figure out the best way to share a folder. I work at an office and I also work from home and I am wondering how to go about setting up a folder that I can access at home and work. I see in the system preference folder that I can make a folder be a sharing folder. What I am wondering is do I make it a AFP or FTP? Or both?(Both computers are macs) if I make the folder a sharing folder from my home - I then have to log into it on my work computer - are there going to be issues with logging in at times. Should I keep a none-sharing folder on each computer and then create one sharing folder on a computer - so incase I can't log into folder I still have my files? That would be mean I have 3 folders of the same thing? I hope I am making sense.

I have a WD 2TB NAS on my network. I am in the market for a new wifi router and am very interested in the Airport Extreme. Is it possible to access my NAS from outside my network if I have mobile me and an Airport Extreme? I know you can access an external drive attached via USB to the airport extreme using BTMM & MobileMe, so it seems logical that you can access any drive on the network that is exposed with share folders. Anyone try this? I called Apple several times and most of the people I spoke with said it is possible but not supported by Apple.

MobileMe / Restore :: BTMM Stalwartly Refuses To Work
Both ends have Airport Extremes, the same ISP, the exact same make and model of modem, and all settings are correct. I've experimented with all possibilities. On very rare occasions, BTMM condescends to work, but 95% of the time, it does not. There is absolutely no reason why it should not work. I can use LogMeIn, and I can configure my Airport Extreme at home over the internet, but BTMM stalwartly refuses to work. It would be a wonderful feature if it existed. I think that either BTMM or 10.6.2 is inherently flawed. If anyone can show how I'm wrong, I'd be delighted.

Applications :: Will Adobe CS5 Work On Home Computer And Laptop
visited an Apple store for this answer with cash in hand and left even more confused. The manager of the store said that CS5 changed the original Adobe protocol of allowing you to install the software on your home and portable computer. Another employee thought you still could install on the two machines as long as you weren't using the software on the two machines at the same time.

To make it more confusing, on Adobe's FAQ section:"Can I distribute a Creative Suite 5 edition across multiple users or computers? No. The product license agreement forCreative Suite 5 does not allow you to install the components of a single suite edition across multiple computers. Refer to the End-User License Agreement for more details."[URL]Then, when you click on the End-User License Agreement, it has this at the bottom: "HOME USE OF MACROMEDIA BRANDED PRODUCTSNotwithstanding the terms of the product license agreement included within a Macromedia branded product, when such a product is licensed through Adobes Open Options licensing program (not including Student Licensing,SiteLicensing, and Term Licensing), the primary user of the computer on which such software is lawfully installed may install a second copy of such software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable computer or a computer located at his or her home, provided that the software on the portable or home computer is not used at the same time as the software on the primary computer."[URL]Any current CS5 users know what the deal is? Do I need to pay even more money for the above-mentioned "open options program" just to be the sole user of the software on my home and laptop computers?

MobileMe / Mail :: Unable To Access MobileMe / Address Are Bouncing Back?
Can't find this specific problem elsewhere so I thought I'd start a new thread. Numerous customers are reporting that their emails to my me.com address are bouncing back to them. This has been happening since Thursday last week. I got one of them to forward one of the bounces to me on another address so I could take a look. This is what it says (which incidentally is a new one on me!):

This is a temporary error and you do not have to resend the message
The system tried to send the message

The full bounce follows this delay message. It seems to be dependent on where the messages are coming from as some customers can't email at all and some have no problems. Very very frustrating. Service status seems to indicate no problems which I know can't be the case. Needs to be fixed pronto or I'll be cancelling and looking for a refund.
