After installing the 10.7.4 Update, my MacBookPro 15 inch, early 2011, says "No Wi-Fi hardware detected".After resetting the PRAM and the SMC, functionality came back, but only until i have to shutdown the Book. After turning it on on again, again "No Wi-Fi hardware detected" under the Wi-Fi symbol in the menue bar. Again, after resetting PRAM (waiting for 3 chimes at startup), Wi-Fi hardware is detected again and working properly.

I just installed Windows 7 on my bootcamp. I put in the Snow Leopard in to install the drivers but it didn't install the airport card. I checked device manager> network adapters and the airport card is not there. Does anyone know where I can download the drivers for the airport card?
View 8 Replies View RelatedGot a cheap, no-name USB sound card here. Connected to my new MBP, it's detected as a USB sound device, but no sound comes out when I try to play through. Didn't really expect it to work but it would be nice if I could get it going. I've got the Logitech Z-5500 speaker set, and I want to use the 3 plug analogue connection. At the moment I'm using the optical connection, which gets me surround sound fine, but only if I force it to use a Dolby Pro Logic mix, which is useless for games (great for movies and music though.)

There is no indication by the computer that the memory card read has been plugged in. I bought a new memory card reader (different brand). The computer does not detect the new memory card reader. I have tried rebooting the computer. That did not make a difference. I tried unplugging all the USB devices plugged into the computer. That did not work

This is driving me crazy, so any help would be greatly appreciated.I am using an IBOOK G4, running OS 10.3.9. Never had any major problems with the computer itself I am currently living in Korea, and thus have very highspeed internet. However, on my Mac, it is running quite slow. There is no modem that I can reset, because the apartment building is already wired so my ethernet cable connects directly into the wall. A friend came over to test the connection (speedtest.net) with his PC and he was downloading 60,000 KBPS, when I plugged in my MAC I was downloading at 15,000 KBPS. He downloads various things at around 2mb/s and I sometimes only get 50 kb/s.

I took pictures with it on my Nikon D5100 and now when I went to go look at the pictures on my camera, I got an error message that said this card is broken and that I need a new SD Card. Then I thought it was just a camera issue so I plugged it into my MacBook Pro but it didn't reconize it. Is there any way to get the data off of the SD card and how did this happen?

I have a 32 GB SDHC Card (Class 10) in my Nikon Coolpix S9100. I formatted it in the camera, and now it's read-only on my Mac, and I can't format it so that it is writable. In fact, I have to reboot to my Bootcamp partition (Windows 7) to format it. It works with my Mac then, but as soon as the camera writes to it again, it becomes read-only.

I have been trying to install (from software update) the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update for weeks now. I am using a Macbook Pro i5, Lion 10.7.4. Each time I run software update, after downloading some amount of KB, I get the following message; "The update 'digital camera raw compatability update can't be installed. The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded & checked again the next time that software update runs."

I have no SD card drive, I just have a Canon Powershot camera that uses an SD card for storage and connects to the computer via USB, so I was wondering, is there any technique or program out there that would allow me to load files from the computer onto the SD card through the camera's USB? Or are those typically locked as a one way street?

I get the "you just screwed up your card dummy" notice.I finally figuered out how to eject a cd/dvd. The Mac only takes small media cards and I have to use a card reader to load photos onto my Mac from a SanDisk CompactFlash camera card. With the cd/dvd's I can go to Finder and hit "eject" and it will. With the usb for the card reader I have to pull it out, of course it will not eject like a cd.

I have a camera with RCA style jacks for power, audio and video. The red RCA jack is used for power, and has its own power supply. Yellow and white RCA jacks provide video and sound, and which I connect to my VCR Input jacks.
I would like to capture the camera's output into my computer.
Do you have a recommended product for this, or link to read about my options. My computer is not new, which may be a complication. But I have a couple of empty bays.
I have searched some forums, but most of what I find is VHS to DVD conversion, which might not be what I am after.
How do I get camera memory card out of the DVD slot?

Apple on Tuesday evening posted Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.3 (4MB), a new upgrade to its RAW photo support for software such as Aperture and iPhoto. The update adds support for four high-profile cameras released earlier in the fall, including Canon's EOS-50D, Nikon's D90 and P6000, and Sony's A900. It also addresses problems handling output from earlier cameras as well as general reliability. The patch requires either Mac OS X 10.4.11 or 10.5.3 and later.[ View this article at [URL]

Surely this is a pretty standard feature in laptops now, particularly with Apple's obsession with iPhoto etcDoes it come as an option? How do you get your pics off your camera? You have to connect a usb cable from the laptop to the camera?
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy friend updated her 13" Black MacBook yesterday, specifically the "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.3". After a reboot, she got the Apple "Blue Screen of Death", with no login window showing. Looking at system.log, there's a section that looks to be the culprit (this began after restarting due to the install of the update):
Nov 7 13:55:29 Philbert /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow[31]: Login Window Application Started
Nov 7 13:55:30 Philbert /usr/sbin/ocspd[53]: starting

Here are some things I've observed/tried, many from sources via the Internet:
- I'm able to login in single-user mode
- I'm not able to login in Safe Mode (hangs on white screen with Apple logo)
- I've tried booting off the 10.5 install DVD and running Disk Utility - verify/repair disk, this comes back ok. However, if I try to verify/repair permissions, it runs for about 10 - 20 mins then freezes. I let the frozen process run overnight (10-12 hours) and no feedback. I can move the mouse, but I cannot select anything.
- When the laptop is booted and on the blue screen, I can connect to it via AFP
- I've tried manually changing the permissions of "/", by doing - chmod 775 /; chmod 1775 /;
- I've tried removing the com.apple.WindowServer.plist and com.apple.loginscreen.plist files in case they were corrupted by the update
- I tried running the "installer" command to re-install the update package from the command line. I run it with the "verbose" flags, I get no output and the process hangs.
Since I can connect via AFP I figure I'll be backing the data up and re-installing OS X. Pretty lame though, considering this failure was caused by running a Software Update. Anyone have a last minute suggestion for me before I go down that path?I've attached the full system.log.
For the last couple of month or two, my MacBook Pro hasn't always been recognising all of my 4Gb of RAM and only detecting one of the two 2Gb RAM installed.
I thought it might have been a hardware problem but I have been able to restart OS X when it only detects 2Gb and after it has rebooted it would see all 4Gb of RAM but recently (last week or so) when I restart this no longer happens and it still only detects 2Gb not matter how many times I restart.
The 4Gb of RAM installed is the factory shipped RAM and I haven't opened my MBP to make any modifications.
For some reason when I boot into Windows 7 through BootCamp it detects all 4Gb of RAM.
I am having real trouble running some applications that I need due to the fact that I only have half the installed RAM available.

I bought a 4-port USB hub (Gear Head if it matters) and it's supposed to just plug in and work. I normally use a USB mouse & keyboard, thus taking up 2 out of 2 of my MacBook Pro's USB slots. I bought the Hub so I could add in a light or speaker for late night gaming sessions and quiet videos respectively. The light on the USB Hub turns on, but it isn't detected by my MacBook Pro. Anything I plug in to it recieves enough power to turn on (Speaker's Power light turns on, Mouse's laser will turn on, etc...) but they aren't detected by the MacBook Pro. IE; Mouse won't move on screen, keyboard will not type, speaker isn't shown as an option for outgoing sound device, etc...

Installed a new Seagate Momentus XT 750gb into my mid 2009 mbp. When I tried to install my leopard the HDD was not detected.
So I put in the original HDD and installed leopard into the Seagate via USB with success. Prior installation I formatted the Seagate already.
Then I install the Seagate into the mbp again but still it cannot be detected.

I have a MacBook Pro since september, which came with 10.6.3 installed. It worked perfect. Last Nov 20th I updated to 10.6.5 (from the automatic software update manager) and everything more or less ok, except for my SD Card slot which stopped reading any card.
I have checked it is not a card problem. I tried installing the 10.6.5Update Combo and it didn't work. I tried resetting the System Management Controller and nothing changed, nor any other method I've found on the web.
I would like to know if it is known a concrete fixing of this issue; otherwise I think the best thing to do is to downgrade back to 10.6.3, which was the originally installed Snow Leopard version.
I just purchased my first Mac... a used Mac Pro...2 x2.66 dual core with 8 gb of ram and a 7300GT video card. (built Aug 2007) I want to upgrade the video card. I have tried to follow earlier postings, but need a bit more clarification... It appears that the 8800GT mac version is the only recommended card, but Apple no longer sells them. I can still find these 1st gen cards on eBay for approx $250-280. I have also read where others of you have installed new cards, such as the 4870, in your 1st gen mac, but using these newer cards seems to require some "flashing" of the card or other such tweaks--which, unfortunately, I am not that familiar with. With the 8800GT, it seems you can just swap out the cards, update the drivers and you are good to go... am I wrong in thinking that the newer cards are more difficult to get up and running?
