MacBook Pro :: External Display Flickers Still Under 10.5.6?
my working configuration still isnīt working.

MBP (late2008) attached via miniDisplay Port --> DVI to a DELL 22"

To get it working with the LID closed and native resolution I need to perform a time intense procedure:
MBP normal mode, attache external Apple keyboard and Mouse (both cable), close the LID, wait some seconds to let em go to sleep, attache the miniDisplay-->DVI adapter, wait again a few seconds, press a key on the keyboard.

MacBook Pro :: 15" Flickers Screen On External Display When Under CPU Load
I have a 15" MacBook Pro with a Core i7 and the NVidia GeForce GT 330M, 512MB. It works great when not connected to an external display. The external display I have tried it with is a HP w2338h 1920x1080@60Hz which works great with my old 13" MacBook 2GHz Core Duo via its Mini-DVI to VGA converter.

The flicker begins when the computer seems to get loaded with processor-intensive/disk-intensive stuff. The entire screen begins to start shaking in a sinusoidal fashion as though it is being subjected to severe electro-magnetic interference.

The screen flickers off, to totaly black every time the mac seems to be having a hard time doing something, be it fast scrolling, flash video, but someimes randomly.

I have boot camp installed with winblows vista (for work) the screen does EXACTLY the same thing, all be it less frequently.

IMac Intel :: Display Flickers And Turns Black The Screen?
Basically what i've noticed so far is the display flickers and turns black at lower brightness settings while gaming. (Primarily WoW). I did a quick google search and pulled a TON of old forums dating back to last nov 2009 (when we got ours) to feb and even may 2010. We have had problems with the display before. We had to take our comp in to get it looked at for screen tearing. They decided to replace the logic board, and when we got it back it made a funny brushing noise when on ( they guessed it was the optical drive).

MacBook Pro :: Vertical White Lines Across Display - How To Fix It
I have a MacBook Pro from 2008. Recently, the screen appears to have a white foggy film over it, but if you look closer, you can see that it is actually white vertical lines- every other pixel is completely white all the way down. It makes reading really difficult, and editing photos nearly impossible. Occasionally it will just go away for a few minutes or seconds, but it always returns.

MacBook Pro :: Unibody 17in/how To Fix A Bent Display?
So, I know theres a few threads about how some people's displays are slightly bent on the sides.

I'm in the exact same situation...sort of.

While mine is also slightly askew on the sides, I've decided not to bother with that, since just about every single unit I've come across is shaped more or less the same way. However, something I noticed the other day was that my display indeed also bent, however it was bent in the front!

Basically, imagine the computer in a closed position, and that you're looking at it from the front. Now essentially if you follow the area where the rubber gasket meets the unibody, it starts out aligned, then almost immediately, for lack of better words, it takes off from the ground.
The biggest telltale sign is that you can clearly see light coming through the space it creates.

Since its not off by a huge amount, I figured Apple probably won't care, but since its rather annoying knowing its there, I decided to try and fix it myself. However I haven't had much luck, and I think I might have made it a little worse!

So far I've tried:
-stacking some books(only about 2, light textbooks)
-and flipping the computer upside down and leaving it like that for a few hours(nothing on top).

Any other recommendations?

I've attached a picture kinda showing where its at. I couldn't find a full frontal picture of the computer, so I just took a side view one off of Apple's site, and marked the approximate area where the bend occurs.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Fix Volume, Display And Backlit Keyboard Brightness Keyboard
Yesterday i noticed that my magic mouse's right click wasn't working. Checked prefs, they were set right. Then realised neither was the backlit keyboard, or any of the hardware control keys, including display brightness, keyboard brightness, volume, or eject. Ran through the tests on the applecare cd, all passed. installed onyx, cleaned caches, ran scripts, did everything. No change. Reset PRAM, nothing, rebooted into safe mode, nothing. left machine off overnight, nothing, booted from install disk and fixed permissions and repaired the startup disk, nothing. Finally I redownloaded the 10.6.2 combo update and installed it, and rebooted. Finally my keys work, and the magic mouse right click function works, but there are still a couple of glitches. When i press any of the hardware control keys, instead of a cool bezel, i get a clunky white box about 5cm square on my 13" with the level block in the lower area. The volume level feedback isn't working either. (Prefs are set correctly for this too).

MacBook Pro :: Bluish Section Of Screen Flickers In And Out
Last week I bought a refurbished Macbook 2010 i5 2.53 ghz. Everything works perfectly except I've noticed that there's a two inch portion on the right side of the LCD that runs from top to bottom that has a light bluish tint that flickers in and out. The actual screen graphics seem fine; the band flickers from unbroken blue to being nonexistent before coming back again. Very odd. I've played around with the screen resolution about to recalibrate the color scheme.

Computer seems to be working fine except that the screen will flicker/go to black for a very brief moment (le than a half second) every 30 seconds to five minutes. This is not related to energy saver settings by the way and doesn't seem to be related to whatever work I might be doing on the computer. Is this some kind of power supply issue? Will the computer probably need an expensive repair to fix?

They called me back today saying that they had to order a new logic board and it will take up to a week for repair. The problem is I did not back everything up before I took it in. The genius I talked to over the phone said it is unlikely that I am looking at data loss but they couldn't guarantee anything. She also said that I can pay $100 to have them back everything up for me.

After a few minutes of rebooting the machine i will use spotlight and it will be very flickery. Like when updating results, the blue bar flickers white and blue very quickly and almost unnoticeable. Also, related, when scrolling a list in the dock through a stack shown in list mode, it flickers a lot there as well. Is this normal behaviour for these machines/leopard in general? I'm used to using a crappy old iBook so i dont know if im just being pedantic.

Snow Leopard :: No Display After 10.6.5 Update On MacPro / Fix It?
I leave my MacPro running all the time. After the 10.6.5 update, the computer does not wake the monitor after an extended idle period (e.g. overnight). Pressing keys on the keyboard or mouse clicks has no effect. Unplugging and plugging back the monitor did not help.

I can remote log in to the machine, but I can't seem to get the machine to drive the monitor. The only way out of this so far seems to be via a reset. For sure this is a new issue after the update. Is this a bug? Is there a way out without a reset?

FYI: I normally set the display to automatically turn off after 30mins of inactivity in the energysaver system preference (and as a trail workaround I've just set it to "never").

I just bought all these parts new and installed them, along with a clean install of snow leopard. The problem is that the laptop will boot up until the blue screen and then load the desktop backround picture, but will then freeze up and do nothing. ive tried with the snow leopard disc in (except the image on a usb drive), in safe mode, and every other button combo at startup, and the same thing happens everytime. But for some reason if i unplug the LVDS cable from either end the computer will boot up just fine(plugged into an external monitor).

Mac Pro :: S-Video And Composite Adapter Output Flickers
Bought a new Mac Pro (2009) Quad 2.66. Customized with an ATI Radeon HD 4870 card. Current OS version: 10.5.7. Attempting to use Apple's DVI-Video adapter (works fine with my G5). Poor, flickering, black & white, duplicate, partial signal appears on TV using either composite (RCA - yellow) or S-Video. There is no literature anywhere that states whether this adapter is supported (or not). ATI cards have traditionally (before the 4870, not sure about the previous Mac Pro model's ATI cards) been able to correctly output analog video signals using this adapter

Apple's phone support personnel say it should work. Tried a newer adapter at a service provider with no difference in the results. If I can't find a solution that doesn't involve buying anything extra, I'm considering getting the DVI-VGA adapter with a VGA converter box (VGA in, S-Video and Composite out) which seems to be the only viable alternative (as getting a new card won't help when/if I get a Mac Mini for movie watching).

Hardware :: Cinema Display Screen Burn/ghosting - Fix?
At the weekend I had to leave my Mac on for our Tech support team to fix something remotely.

It seems they set the monitor to not go to sleep and I came back on Tuesday (we were snowed out on Monday) to a monitor that had been on for 3 days solidly.

I have a picture on my desktop that I took in Iceland and now I also have a burned in outline of the icebergs across the bottom third of my screen.

It's most noticeable across darker backgrounds and is a total pain because I'm working with graphics and page layout and have a ribbon of discolouration running through everything.

Is there a way to get rid of this? other than leaving a complex screen saver running overnight?

Final Cut Pro :: 100 Percent Reverse Video Flickers
I edited a trailer for my short film. There are a few clips that are set to play backwards. On (any) computer it looks fine, but when I put it on DVD the reversed action clips flicker annoyingly. I haven't been able to solve the problem yet. Tried to search this forum, but so far without results. I'm using Final Cut Studio 2, FCP 6. The original material is SD MiniDV. The DVD was a standard dvd. I've done this kind of workflow tens of time, but this I haven't faced yet. Maybe I should also mention that in this clip there are some filters in use: colour correction, (heavy) unsharp mask and a vignette. You can view the trailer here: [URL].
