Mac Safari :: Changing The Default Search Engine?
I've done quite some search to figure out the solution for this. Some were saying that you have to set your country/language to "UK" (in the preferences) which I have and others to change the code in a special file (which some suggested was not working well). So, is there a straight forward solution to have [URL] as my default search engine instead of [URL]? Information: iMac Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Safari :: Unable To Use The Search Window On The Right To Get Results When Google Is Selected As The Search Engine?
I am unable to use the search window on the right to get results when Google is selected as the search engine.I type in a search term and I am directed to a blank google search page. I have to type in the search term again, then I see a list of "hits". But when I click on one of these hits I am not directed to the URL displayed. I have quit out of Safari and relaunched. I have rebooted my Mac. Neither changes the problem... This is a Google problem: I have the same symptoms when I use Safari on Windows XP. When I switch the search engine to Bing, the problems go away, for both platforms Has Google been hacked? Is this a Google attack on Safari?  How can I enter GoGoDuck as a search engine choice?  Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Mac Safari :: Quits When Using Search Engine
When I type in a value in the search box of either Yahoo or Google the Safari application quits. The message that comes up is "The application Safari quit unexpectedly". If I type in an actual address in the address bar I can get into the site. It is only when I do a search that Safari quits and kicks me out. Information: Mac OS X (10.4.11)

OS X :: Changing Smart Folder Preferences - Search By Default
I would like to know whether it is possible to change the smart folders preferences in what to search by default. What I mean is in the "window" spotlight, when you search on it, by default is searches on "This mac" and on "Content", my question is whether this is changeable. I hope you understand what I was talking about, if not please ask.

OS X :: Alternative To Google (Search Engine)
I tried bing for a week, but it just doesn't give the same results as google. Is there any other search engines that come close to google? Also, how do you change the default search engine in safari? I've just noticed in windows safari that you can simply choose yahoo instead of google! Is it the same with OSX safari?

IWeb 09 :: Website Not Showing Up At All On Any Search Engine?
I recently switched from Windows to a Mac (and its a big improvement, really pleased with it). As we run 2 tiny businesses, one of my first projects was to make 2 websites in iweb and publish them via ftp to the domains I purchased (both hosted by free virtual servers). When I type in the web address in the Safari browser bar, the websites display and work perfectly. However, for one website, when I google any of the keywords (i.e. santa, reindeer and horse-drawn sleigh hire), or the actual company name (Santa and Co), or the specific web address [URL], nothing comes up apart from the freevirtualservers awaiting content thing. When I click on this, it goes straight to the website, all working fine! I don't expect to be on the first page of google, and this question isn't about how to improve my ranking on search engines, but normally when you google a company name or specific website address it comes up somewhere with the actual site! To make sure, I made a site for a friend [URL] and the same thing applies - nothing comes up. When I search for [URL] it doesn't exist, although typing the address in the browser bar brings the site up working perfectly. I have got cyberduck but as the sites display fine I'm assuming its another problem. The other website I made for our business [URL] has a different issue but I'd like to get the Santa and Co one sorted first! I don't know where I'm going wrong, and apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place but I haven't got a clue how to fix things, or even what this issue could relate to. Mac Safari :: Changing Search Engines?
I use the Google Searchbar ALL THE TIME. ...and when Wolfram Alfa came out, I thought about changing it, just to check it out, but couldn't easily find a solution. And now that Bing has come out, I'd really love to put it through it's paces... but there's no way to make it my searchbar, save for installing some shareware program! (I already have enough on my computer, lol). I've heard of some terminal hacks, but they seem really complicated. I don't want it to be my HOME PAGE, I want it to be my SEARCH BAR! Has ANYONE heard of ANYTHING besides yet another shareware program...? Information: 3.2GHz 8-Core MacPro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

IWeb 09 :: Different Language Versions - Search Engine Optimization
Am I the only one with these wishes for a future version of iWeb? 1) I want it to be possible again to open iWeb in different language versions and not only the language used as default under Mac OS X! 2) There must be a better integration of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). 3) Please allow / ensure deep-linking and that users become able to bookmark any page on iWeb created websites, and not just the main URL (as is the case with Apple's present domain masking) which will also allow creating a site map. Mac Safari :: Make Google Address Default In Search Box?
I was hoping that by version 4 of safari we really should be able to change the search engine in the search box. I am happy with it searching google but it searches [URL] not [URL]! This is such a simple thing, but leaves anyone outside of the US with an unusable feature. Apple seems to neglect the non USA customers generally, such as with the US english dictionary. how to make a request to apple? Information: MacBook Pro Aluminum Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Mac Safari :: Google Set As Default But Search Running In Yahoo?
Despite selecting 'Google' as my default search engine, Safari 5.0.3 insists in running every search in Yahoo. Recently I was having lots of Safari problems, so I deleted and completely re-installed Safari on my iMac. Since then Safari has been working more or less normally, except for this one quirk. I tried removing the com.apple.safari.plist file to my desktop and restarting Safari, but it continued to search in Yahoo, so I put it back.
