MacBook Pro :: Error - System Extension Cannot Be Used

Apr 6, 2012

I have a problem with Norton AntiVirus and have spent hours on-line with three levels of Norton Engineeers.  Norton will not perform an idle-scan and loses its license on restart, requiring re-entry of the product key.

When removing Norton files for a re-install an alert pops up System extension cannot be used The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/SymInternetSecurity.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used.  Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update. As noted, I have spent many hours on the phone and LiveChat with Norton engineers.  The last one has suggested I contact Apple Support for assistance.  They will call back on Monday. I am running a 15" MacBook Pro (Early-2011), 2.3 GHz Intel i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, OS X Lion 10.7.3, 512 GB Solid State SATA (Crucial)

MacBook Pro :: USB Extension Cable Or Get A Wireless Mouse?

Jun 21, 2009

Whats with all the ports on the left hand-side on all the uMBP's.. Looking at the cable length on my wired mouse it would not go all the way around from the left handed USB ports to the right hand side as I'm right handed like the majority of the entire worlds population. So whats that mean? I either have to buy an USB extension cable or get a wireless mouse?!? Also, I prefer to have my MBP on the left with my Larger display on the right. This makes it more limiting cable wise in order to achieve this.

Do you understand what I mean? just would like to see if its safier using the second option, or what's the difference.

Or is it always only ran through the terminal program in the Xcode program?

Applications :: Looking For Firefox Extension

Apr 5, 2009

Is there a search extension out there that will display the first result from each of your installed search engines as you type? For example, says I type "Adam" and I have google, facebook, IMDB, and Wikipedia as my search engins; the extension would display the first result from google, facebook, etc in the window that pops up as you type. Then if I hit return (without clicking anything that pops up) it would take me to my default search (google).

Software :: Video Files With .wmv Extension

Sep 30, 2010

I was trying to play some video files with a .wmv extension. I thought I had done this before through Windows Media Player, but this time I got an error message saying something about Real Audio being incompatible with Quick Time. I also tried copying and pasting the video URL into the Windows Media Player window for that purpose, but it still wouldn't play. What is the nature of this problem? I'm uneasy about not being able to play video that is in a widely used format as well as about that quirky Real AUdio/QuickTime message. This is all very confusing!

I just got my new MacbookPro. It is annoying that the Terminal is set as the default opener for those files without an extension name. Applications :: DVD Media Extension To IMovie HD?

Jan 18, 2009

I used Ripit to rip a DVD (Dark Knight, for the curious) onto my Mac. Fine. But it rips with this ridiculous '.dvdmedia' extension that isn't compatible with anything but DVD Player. I really wanted to put it into GarageBand or iMovie HD and fiddle around with it to make music videos. I know I could use Get Info to change the extension, but I'm not sure what's really the best format for iMovie HD either. And yes, I know there's a million better rippers for Mac, but Handbrake confuses me, Handbrake Lite and Aimersoft just kind of freeze, and MacTheRipper just sort of scans for the rest of eternity even with VLC in my applications drive?
