MacBook Pro :: Tab Shortcut (Dialog Box) On Mac

I am new to the Mac as I just switched from a PC. One of the shortcuts I used a lot on the PC/Windows side was the ability to tab to a Yes/No/Cancel dialog box. For instance when I was closing an application and there were changes to the document and a dialog box would show up and I could tab through the available options and hit enter on the selected one (saves time from reaching for the mouse). Does the Mac OS have this ability?

MacBook Pro :: No Password Dialog Box After Waking Up From Sleep?
Sometimes when I let my MBP (see sig) go to sleep with the screen open, I come back and hit the spacebar to wake it up and it doesn't give me the password dialog box to wake it from sleep. All i see is a black screen with the mouse pointer on it. This sometimes happens when I wake and DO get the password box but if I wait and don't enter the password right away, the box disappears and wont come back. In both cases I'm forced to push the power button to shut it down and restart. Any solutions to this, or is it just a fluke?

Mac Safari :: Printing - Dialog Box Comes Up With 95% In Scale Box When Use "Standard" Preset
Whenever I print from Safari, the print dialog box comes up with 95% in the scale box when I use the "Standard" preset. I can change it manually to 100% each time, but I can't figure out how to make it default to 100% since Safari won't let me change the "Standard" print preset. What do I need to do?

Mac Mini :: Screen Sharing Dialog Box Won't Close
I don't get the impression that screen sharing should be as much trouble as I seem to be having. I'm trying to share the screen of a Mac Mini with a MacBook Pro. When I initiate the Screen Share I get a dialog box asking for user name and password. Once I enter them it starts "Connecting" and that box never closes, ever. Even after the screen sharing session is closed it never goes away and there is no way to close it. It sits on top of all windows and doesn't show up for Force Quit. The only way to make it go away is Restart or Shut Down. It also seems to take a really long time for a screen share to come on. This is all happening on an Airport Extreme network. I'm new to Macs so be gentle.

Final Cut Pro :: Killing Dialog Box - Accept Incoming Connections?
Just upgraded to FCP7 and now I am getting this dialog box on every launch. By itself a minor nuisance except that software defects in Matrox MXO cause it to go crazy if I "exit" FCP for a finder item. Clicking on this box = exiting to finder. So I'm kind of dead in the water for using the MXO. I tried changing the firewall settings, but I'd really rather not just TURN off the firewall (the settings didn't change when I installed FCP7) Has anybody solved this problem?

OS X :: Selecting Other Options In A Dialog Box?
Of all the things I've learned to do on a Mac over the years, and with all the help I've provided here at MR, I still don't know how to do the following:

On a rolled out dialog box like the one shown below, how does one go about selecting something other than the highlighted button (in this case Save...) using the keyboard?

I think Escape usually works to select Cancel, but how would I select Don't Save using the keyboard? Why can't I simply Tab over to it and hit the space bar or Enter?

While we're at it, I'm familiar with taking a screenshot of an entire window (CMD+SHIFT+4 followed by Space) but that doesn't seem to work to take a screenshot of a window + the dialog box, other than the sloppy way I just did?

OS X :: Page Setup Dialog Box Does Not Work?
My generic Page Setup dialog box e.g. used for Word etc. doesn't work.

The "Setting" menu doesn't work at all, i.e. I can see the dropdown but it doesn't accept my changes (it's fixed on "Page Settings". All other menus or choices are accepted but then the "OK" button doesn't work; it just flickers briefly and then goes back to blue. The "Cancel" button makes all contents of the dialog box disappear except for the framne and the buttons. Either way force quitting and relaunching the application is the only way to continue working in the application.

What could be the issue here?

A few specs on my hardware, printer and system:

- MacBook Pro (brand new)

- OS X 10.5.5

- Printers: hp LaserJet 4200 (main printer), iP5200R, OKI B6200, Lexmark E321. All these printers I used without problems with my old PowerBook G4.

The problem occurs with all applications using the generic Page Setup dialog, such as Word, Grab etc. In Excel e.g. all these functions work (it uses a different kind of dialog box for the page setup).

The problem could possibly have started to occur when the Lexmark printer could not be installed automatically so I assigned it another Lexmark driver, which seemed to work. But I'm not sure whether those two problems occurred at the same time.

What I tried already:

- uninstall and reinstall all printers in the Print & Fax part of the System Preferences. I uninstalled all printers and (without restart) reinstalled the hp printer only. The problem was still there, even upon restart.

- reinstall Word (first I thought it was a Word problem)

- shouting at the computer

OS X Leopard :: Force Quit Dialog Box Refuses To Come Out
I have been kinda irritated with the following problem which is happening quite often: When I use Safari to surf, sometimes as it tries to download some videos or pdf files, it hangs and I can see the beach ball rotating indefinitely. I cannot force quit because the cursor remained as a rotating beach ball & refused to turn into an arrow so I cannot point it to the apple icon to force quit.

Then I tried to press Option-Command-Esc simultaneously but the Force Quit dialog panel refuse to come out despite pressing Option-Command-Esc a thousand times. These Option-Command-Esc method only works for me like 5% of the time, in the sense that only 5% of the time the Force Quit dialog appears upon pressing Option-Command-Esc. Because of this beach ball indefinite rotation & not being able to force quit, I am left with no choice but to turn off & on the computer again! Why is the Option-Command-Esc in Mac so unreliable as compared to Control-Alt-Delete in Windows?

Aperture :: What's The Dialog Box When You Launch For The First Time
I bought Aperture 3 from the App Store, installed it, and when I launched it something odd happened: I was interacting with another application, and when Aperture started up it out up the main window and a dialog box popped up that asked "Would you like to..." with (presumably) Yes, No, OK, Cancel, or similar buttons. Unfortunately, it stole my mouse click from the other app and the dialog box vanished before I had a chance to read it, and so I have no idea what the question was or how I answered it. Aperture did not go off and do anything radical like convert my iPhoto library, so I guess it wasn't that, but I would like to know what it was I clicked.

Unfortunately, I can't repeat it since it appears to be a one-time question. Does anyone know what the dialog box asked? (It's not the second dialog box, which is whether I wanted to enable GPS geotagging.)

OS X Leopard :: File Open Dialog Box Broken In All Apps ( 10.5.6/7)?
I've got a very odd problem that Apple phone support seem to be unable to solve. Basically, every file open dialog box system wide is broken, from file->open in textedit to the browse button on websites for uploading files. When trying to display this finder panel, it beachballs for ten seconds then gives me a grey area where the usual finder browser usually resides and the open / cancel buttons at the bottom of the panel.

I've repaired permissions which had no effect. The finder works perfectly other than it's little file open dialog which other applications use... Updating to 10.5.7 did nothing to fix the issue. Does anybody have any idea how to resolve this?
