MacBook Pro :: Charger Suddenly Stopped Working?
Today when I tried to connect my charger, the charging light suddenly went out after a few seconds. It's never done this before, and now my computer isn't charging. I looked at several problems that were similar to this, and I've tried everything short of replacing the charger. I followed the link to the article that explains what to do in this situation; I checked absolutely everything on my charger that it told me to, and cleaned off the area around the magnetic pins. I tested the charger in several different outlets, with no results. I also followed the steps to reset the SMC. That didn't work either. Something else that's important to note is that there is an area on my computer between the MagSafe power port and the Gigabit Ethernet port that is damaged. The plastic covering between these two ports had broken off about a week ago, and there is a prominent gap between them. But, my charger was still working just fine before today. Could this damage still have something to do with why my charger stopped working? Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

MacBook Pro :: Trackpad Suddenly Stops Working Completely
Over the past two or three days, my trackpad has stopped working several times. It will not respond to clicks, swipes, the mouse will not move at all. If I reboot the computer, it clears up and works perfectly for a while (several hours usually), then locks up again. Each time it has locked up, an external mouse works fine, just the trackpad is unresponsive. The macbook does not feel unusually hot or exhibit any other odd behavior. Twice, this has happened while the screensaver was up (had been AFK for a while), but the other times it happened while I was actively using the computer. Today I saw a trackpad firmware update and installed it, but the updater said my firmware was up to date. MacBook Pro :: Internal Speakers Have Suddenly Stopped Working?
I had my computer plugged into some external computer speakers (nothing where I had to downlaod any software, I have used these speakers before), and when I removed them, all of a sudden the built in speakers weren't working. I tried to adjust the vollume, but I get the volume image with a little "forbidden" circle and cross underneath. I tried adjusting the settings in System Preferences, but when I got to the audio settings there was only the one "Optical digital-out port". I then updated my computer, but still no luck. Lastly I went to Utilities and to Audio Midi Setup to reset everything to the default settings, but I am unable to adjust everything. It's all that lighter shade of grey that tells me I can't select it. Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

MacBook Pro :: HDMI Output To TV Suddenly Stopped Working
I have a one month old "late 2011 model" unibody Macbook Pro where the HDMI output just suddenly stopped working with no changes in configuration.I've tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, switched HDMI cables, cold rebooting everything, tried different HDMI ports, different resolutions on the TV and switched audio output settings, nothing works. When I plug the cable in the Mac switches resolutions, recognizes the TV in the Displays preference panel and correctly identifies it as a Toshiba, but doesn't send any audio or video signals to the TV. MacBook Pro :: Top Most Line Of My Keyboard Suddenly Stopped Working?
Two or three days ago, the topmost line of my keyboard (contains esc, brightness, expose, dashboard, play/pause, mute, eject, etc.) suddenly stopped working. Strangely, some of the keys have switched functions: expose opens a search bar, keyboard dimmer refreshes the webpage, keyboard brighter selects the web address, play/pause is now shows Spaces, skip forward is expose, and sound increase is dashboard. I reset my keyboard, but nothing changed.

MacBook Pro :: Keyboard Modifier Key Remap Suddenly Not Working?
I am using a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). I use a third-party USB keyboard that is laid out (naturally) Windows-style, with the Alt keys inside (closer to the space bar than) the “Windows logo” keys. I use the Modifier Keys button in the Keyboard preference panel to remap these to the standard Mac configuration, with the Command keys on the inside and the Option keys on the outside. Today those modifier keys are suddenly reversed back to the default Windows layout. The Keyboard panel still shows my preferred (remapped) configuration, but it is not being honored. I have tried reverting to the default layout and then back again, I have rebooted the system, nothing works—the modifier keys are still stuck in the Windows configuration. I rely heavily on keyboard macros in my work, most of which use the modifier keys, and those keystrokes are built into my fingers as second nature. The reversed modifier keys are driving me crazy. Please help: what can I do to make the keyboard honor my settings in the Keyboard preference panel? Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

MacBook Pro :: Screen Goes Black Suddenly
I bought my 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 machine back in May of 2010 and have been very happy with it until I put OSX Lion 10.7. Now I regularly get Black Screens Of Death when the screen just goes black and I have to restart the machine. With the amount of bug traces my machine has been generating to Apple I would have thought this issue should have been sorted out. What did they do in Lion which is so different from Leopard and why haven't they sorted this out? If this continues then unfortunately I may have to consider moving back to Windows as I can't work like this. I've got GfxCardStatus running with Integrated Graphics but this means I can use my Apple Cinema Display. Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

MacBook Pro :: Why Does Screen Suddenly Turn Blue?
I got my Macbook Pro only 6 months ago, and supposedly, it is a really strong and good computer: 2GHz Intel Core i7 with Version Mac OS X 10.6.8. A couple of times a week the screen suddenly turns blue. I can't really figure out a pattern as to when it does it. Often, I'll be switching between word and a pdf and then it just suddenly turns blue and I can't use any bottons. I just recently discovered that if I simply close the Macbook and open it up again, then I'll get back to where I was before it turned blue. In this way, I can make the computer 'wake up' by closing and opening it once or twice. Also, I can force the computer to shut down by holding the switch-off botton down for a while. However, something is obviosly wrong, and it is anoying and also, I would like to find out if it is a hardware problem before it's too late to get it fixed within the hardware-protection period of 1 year after purchase. I just formatted the hard drive a couple of days ago and re-installed everything, but it still happens. Also, I tried to do the 'hold down option-command-R-P'-thing but it hasn't solved the problem. OS X :: MacBook Trackpad And Keyboard Stopped Working Suddenly
It seems that during my afternoon class, I shut down my macbook and then when I went to use it about 10 minutes later the keyboard nor the trackpad works. Now the keyboard/trackpad is not defective as it works via the OSX install cd and it works in Windows Vista (dual booted) When ever I start up OSX it just comes up and the mouse is in the upper left hand corner, and the keyboard doesn't work at all. I have tried a pram reset by pressing command + option + p + r and that did nothing. When I am in OSX the only way to get out is to hold down the power button till the macbook turns off. What else could be wrong is there anything I can do, the nearest Apple store is about 80 miles away so I am trying to avoid that at this point as it seems like a software issue.
