MacBook Pro :: "Safari Can't Verify The Identity Of The Website"
Apr 29, 2012
Oftentimes when I visit credible websites I get the following dropdown message:  "Safari can't verify the identity of the website [URL]"." I've had my MacBook Pro for over four years and the problem just started last week. I am running OS X (10.5.8).

WIth using 2 desktop iMacs, we are both getting messages that 'Safari can't verify the identity of the website' or we get a message that the website cannot be found. Earlier today it could not find Apple Support Discussions. It does open some pages, but slowly. We use Airport Express, in between the iMacs, and have not had this problem before. I read on another site that I can power down the router. Â
What will happen if I unplug the Airport Express?  Do I loose my settings?  Also, what causes this issue?  It appears that other Mac users are reporting it now too. If unplugging is an answer, is there any specific order? Also, is there a way to turn off AIrport Express first, and should I do that?Â

Anytime I open the preferences in Mail and click on the "accounts" button, Mail prompts me with the "Mail can't verify the identity of Account" window and asks me to verify the certificate. This wouldn't be a problem, except I deleted the account months ago since I let my domain and account expire. I even opened my keychain and deleted all instances of the domain login details and certificates, and yet it still pops up in Mail. What gives?

1. Very recently I keep getting the message 'Cannot verify certificate of server' on a great number of webpages on my mac, including this apple site.  This has been around the time of getting an iPhone, perhaps a coincidence?   I have never seen this message before. I press 'continue' however it's getting a bit annoying.Â
2. Also, since getting this message my facebook page cannot load properly on safari (mac). It comes up mis-aligned on the page, in times new roman font,  with no colour or logos/images. This is around the time of changing the password of my facebook account via my iPhone, again, not sure if this is a coincidence. I'm on snow leopard 10.6.8. all of a sudden this mackeeper website keeps opening in safari. It opens even when I click to go to a different web page.I close the window, a new one is always popping up. I want to know if there is a way to permanently get rid of this/stop this from happening? Is it a virus? Should I take my laptop in to get this problem fixed?

At least once every day a box pops up that says Safari can't verify the identity of Facebook.com or Twitter.com. I click OK or adjust it so say "Always Trust" and then Facebook.com goes blank. The blank page will say access denied, page cannot be found, etc. etc.
All the fixes I've found online seem to be Windows-based and suggest making sure the clock/time is accurate. Mine has always been up to date so that's not an option for me. I've also disabled pop-ups as per a suggestion and that didn't do anything. So if there's any Mac users with knowledge of security certificates, it'd be a huge help.
Using:SAFARI 5.1.2 SNOW LEOPARD 10.5.8WIRELESS VIA ROUTERve also disabled pop-ups as per a suggestion and that didnve also disabled pop-ups as per a suggestion and that didn

In Safari whenever looking for a specific web site, other web sites on the background start to erupt and show up, which I never look for, which has become so annoying. I tried to change the Privacy settings, but all in vain.

So between today and yesterday I have just been doing some casual maintenance with my Mac Mini. I decided I would run the First Aid program in utilities just to make sure everything is doing well. I was just wondering what is the difference between the two options "Verify Disk" and Verify Disk Permissions"- what exactly do each of them do? It almost sounds self-explanatory but can someone shed some light for me?
I've ran all the verification tests on each hard drive I have and repaired them when needed. So far it has only been my external WD hard drive that needed to have a repair, though I didn't notice anything wrong with it prior to running the verification test. Basically, I'm just wondering what each of the functions do.

I don't know what it is [URL]. For some reason, Safari won't cache any of the images. It works fine in Firefox. Most other sites seem to cache fine. What the heck is going on?

I have a Windows Desktop PC, Windows Laptop and an iMac plus Macbook Pro, on the desktop pc Safari will not open [URL], yet on my Windows Laptop it will! Both are the same version of Safari, I have uninstalled and re installed Safari with no joy.
Does anyone know how to do a clean uninstall of Safari on Windows, because I think that may solve it.

This is my first post, thanks in advance for any help. Hope I can explain correctly. I don't think my site [URL]actually ever had malware. I (not knowing better) placed a small *.exe file on my site via ftp just to transfer it from home to work. Anyway I think it caused me to get listed with google as having malware etc. (even though it was no type of dangerous file). I registered with googles webmaster tools, deleted it off my site and requested they re-scan it. Well that seams to have worked and all is fine except with Safari. I am still getting the malware notice with Safari only. I have cleared history, emptied the cache, deleted cookies and reset safari. Still getting the message. Sometimes I can open the site fine then click home and it pops up again. I really think my site is completely fine but I cant figure out why its still doing this with Safari. Needless to say this is terrible for business.

Safari (version 5.4.1 and earlier) cannot open the blog on the website[URL]. The webmaster tells me he uses Wordpress for that blog. Is this a known Safari problem (Firefox and Opera open the blog) and if so is there a solution to correct this ? I use an iMac running on Lion.

After the Safari 5.1.4 update, I'm unable to access one particular site, the one that used to be my homepage. Trying to access it causes the browser and OS to freeze up for several minutes. Can't force quit or close. I'm able to access my other 'regular' sites.
