MacBook Pro :: Mouse Cursor Moving By Itself - Hard To Control

My MBP has been going crazy the last few days, first off I get the crazy beach ball all the time, way more than before. Then the cursor, trackpad even with the bluetooth mouse is moving by itself, very hard to control. seems like it does it on and off. I zapped pram, check both the disk and the permissions with disk utility, when I did the permission it said this at the end and I found it odd:

MacBook Pro :: Apple Wireless Mouse Can't Accurately Control The Cursor
all over the screen when I use the mouse. I just bought the computer and mouse two days ago and the mouse was working fine after I hooked it up yesterday, but this morning when I started using it, the mouse can't accurately control the cursor. the touchpad seems to be working fine, but is there a way to keep this from happening with the wireless mouse?

OS X Leopard :: Unable To Control Mouse Cursor
My cursor has gone crazy. The mouse won't control it. The cursor arrow jumps all over the screen. At first I thought it was a bad mouse. I tried a different and it was fine for a day, but right now it's doing the same thing: unable to control the cursor as it trembles and jitters and then runs around the screen.

IMac :: I7 Mouse Cursor Jumpy And Impossible To Control
My i7 iMac arrived today with no screen issues and no major problems at all (after scouring the forums the past few weeks, I was a nervous wreck waiting for it). I ordered on Black Friday and believe I have one of the most recent batches with, I cross-my-fingers hope, none of the screen problems that have been reported. However, I am about to gouge my eyes out because of a blasted erratic mouse issue in OSX. I am using a Razer Naga (though it is still a problem with every other mouse I hook up) and regardless of the settings, the cursor is jumpy and impossible to control at times.

I am Bootcamp running Win7 64 and have zero mouse issues on that side of the computer. Its only when I boot into OSX that I have the mouse problems. I have tried the Naga drivers and two USB/Mouse shareware apps, all to no avail. Otherwise, the iMac runs like a dream. In WoW with Ultimate Settings I get 50 fps in Dalaran and 120+ out flying in the world. LotRO runs great as well -- with the recommended settings I am at around 60 fps at all times, even standing at the Prancing Pony in Bree.

Mac Bluetooth :: Wireless Mighty Mouse Cursor Not Moving?
-received WMM today

-inserted batteries

-i installed it by using the Bluetooth pane of System Preferences

WMM works only partially i.e. it can scroll and click however the cursor doesn't move.. not at all! no matter ho much i move the mouse there is no reaction.

for a start i have a question:

when i inserted the batteries (battery level in system preferences is fully green), the green light did go on. however, no other light turned on. in the original Mighty Mouse the red light for optical tracking is turned on.. should one turn on in the Wireless as well? even if it is laser guided?

IMac PPC :: Why Mouse Won't Work - Cursor Is Not Moving?
I just got a used iMac (running 10.5.8) with the metal keyboard and mouse. I unpacked the box, plugged in the computer, hooked up the keyboard and mouse. The computer screen came up. I can move around a little via the keyboard's arrow keys but the cursor will not move via the mouse. I got it to move a little by swiping my thumb across the back but that is it. I switched my older, working, keyboard and mouse to the newer machine and it didn't work there. I switched the newer metal keyboard and mouse my older iMac and they worked just fine. What could be going on with the new (but used) computer? I have tried every port for the mouse, keyboard as well as every back port but nothing moves the cursor.

MacBook Pro :: Erratic Trackpad - Impossible To Control Cursor
The trackpad on my one-year-old MBPro has started exhibiting extremely erratic and intermittent behavior:
- Taps react as control-clicks
- Cursor jumps and becomes impossible to control
- Drags and scrolls behave unpredictably

The trackpad becomes impossible to use. Eventually, as now, everything returns to normal. I'm very experienced in the proper use of the trackpad and am familiar with the 'phantom fingers' phenomenon, so no need to advise against keeping extra fingers and hands away from the trackpad. This behavior has even occurred when standing well away from the computer: after fighting to control the cursor and restart the computer via the Apple menu, I left the room and returned to see a contextual menu of the Activity Monitor (set to auto-launch at restart) being self-activated. I'm starting to guess that this is related to heat issues. In support of this theory, the following:

This behavior was first seen a few months ago when I traveled to the south of France where it was quite warm, and the computer had been playing video for some time. The computer was indeed rather warm. Now it's summertime and the ambient temperature is warmer (though here in the Netherlands, it's not exactly tropical). The last two occurrences of this behavior (yesterday and today) have been hot sunny days. After allowing the computer to cool, the trackpad behaves as normal. Others have reported strange trackpad behavior, but they seem to believe it is caused by defective or damaged hardware, or else user-error. It is often suggested they check their trackpad System Preferences. This post which supports my theory that this is indeed heat-related problem, also remarks that the problem is more likely when the battery is charging.

MacBook Pro :: Mouse Would Not Track With The Cursor?
I have a new MBP, and I purchased the MM at the same time. Even with the settings all bumped up (tracking, etc), mouse would not track with the cursor.pecifically, to get the cursor to move an inch, I had to move the mouse perhaps 3 inches. When I took it back, I was told it was supposed to work that way, that I was moving it too slowly and I needed to whip it around to get tracking on track.

MacBook Pro :: Mouse Cursor Drop Shadow?
I have funny problem, well more of an annoyance than a problem. On my MBP, after maybe a day or two without rebooting (ie. just closing the lid), the mouse cursor drop shadow disappears and the cursor gets jaggy/aliased edges (imagine the cursor from Windows XP, but black). A reboot will bring it back.

The MacBook Pro is a stock late 2009 17" - 2.8Ghz, 4GB etc. with Mac OS X 10.6.3 (this annoyance has happened since 10.6.1). I have the graphics mode set to performance as 90% of the time I use the machine, I'm plugged in.

I've tried to see if there's a pattern to it, but it's seemingly random. Sometimes it's the same day as a reboot, sometimes I go a whole week without rebooting and still have the proper cursor. It's pretty weird. I originally thought it may have related to opening the lid while on battery power, however it's happened a couple of times when I've opened the lid while plugged.

Edit: Another interesting point.... if I plug an external display in, the cursor gets back its shadow, but then when I unplug the screen, it will return to the jaggy look (until a reboot).

MacBook Pro :: How To Fix Mouse And Key Cursor Lag
I'm switching over from Vista so still trying to get used to snow leopard. Couple of things that are bugging me:

1) The trackpad seems to lag slightly when I select text or re-position windows on the screen. What I mean is that when I double click and drag to select some text for example, when I lift my finger from the trackpad (which should end the select procedure) and move the cursor elsewhere, text selection still happens. The only way around this is to not touch the trackpad for about a second before I can move the mouse cursor elsewhere. Is there a way to get rid of this 1 second lag?

2) When I'm typing, and want to move the key cursor over my text, when holding down the arrow keys, the cursor still moves over text very slowly. Is there a way to speed this up?

MacBook Air :: Cursor Jumping Around While Moving?
Just got my new 13" Macbook Air today and have been loving it so far. I used it for a while during it's battery drain and didn't notice anything wrong with it. Now I have it plugged in and I notice the cursor is jumping around the screen while I move it. My fingers are as they always are when using a trackpad on Macbook so there isn't anything strange there. I am also only touching it with one finger. If I slowly drag my finger up and down it will just left to right.

What's really strange is if I unplug the Air it will go back to normal. I did see a knowledge base article for troubleshooting this. It does mention something about 3rd party power adapters being a cause. I am using the adapter that came with my Air.

Mac Pro :: Moving Cursor Across Dual Displays
On my left I have a new HP 2311 23" monitor (maximum dpi 1600x900). On my right I have an old 23" Apple HD Cinema Display (max resolution 1920x1200). Both have a 16:9 aspect ratio. I just added the HP about a month ago, and this is the first I've had dual displays....so I'm still learning. I've noticed the following: If the cursor is on my Cinema Display and I move it left toward the HP, at about the top 1/4 of the screen the cursor won't cross over...it comes to the edge of the screen and stops. I have to move the cursor more toward the middle to cross over. When I move the cursor down toward the middle of the Cinema Display, it crosses over but appears a the top of the HP.

A similar thing happens moving from the HP to the Cinema Display, except at the bottom of the screen. The cursor won't cross for about the bottom 1/4 of the HP, and when I move the cursor up so it will cross, it appears at the bottom of the Cinema Display. It's almost like these screens are out of alignment....the HP sitting a few inches higher than the Cinema Display. My eyes aren't what they used to be, so the HP is set to 1344x756 and the Cinema Display is set to 1344x756 to make everything larger. However, I tried many variations of the resolution on both screens to see if that changed anything.....it didn't.

OS X :: Cursor Moving And Clicking On Its Own?
well this problem recently developed probably within the last three months. Occasionally, while using my macbook pro my cursor will begin to make slight movements on its own. However, sometimes the movements are larger and can involve the cursor clicking and remaining 'clicked' on something.

Attached to my macbook is a wireless logitech keyboard, and a Razer Copperhead mouse. Prior to the copperhead I had a logitech mx518 but the problem still remained. I do not know what causes my cursor to move on its own and the issue does seem to occur when the mouse is unplugged as well. There is no dust or particles interfering with the optical sensor on the mouse and I am using a standard, clean, cloth pad. I just want to know what to do to correct this issue.

MacBook Aluminum :: Cursor Jumps When Using Mouse And External Display?
Hooked up my 2.4 macbook to my external (gateway)LCD display using display port to DVI connector. Cursor jumped erratically when using external mighty mouse and logitech wireless. Played with mouse settings, etc. Used both mice. Same effect. Playing FPS games is challenging, because your character erratically faints (i.e., view spins around uncontrollably, and all of a sudden you're looking up at the ceiling). Took to apple store, genius tried to blame my monitor.

Took macbook back home, hooked up to second (samsung) monitor, tried both mice; same effect.

Taking back to Apple store this afternoon. Oh, forgot to mention that both monitors worked just fine with my G5 powermac, CD mini, and C2D white iMac.

MacBook Pro :: Best Utility To Control Hard Drives And Fans
Setup: MB Pro. early 2009 2.93 Ghz, 8GB RAM, 2 hard drives via optibay
Request: Utility to better sleep the hard drives/fans when not being used

Problem: With the two hard drive setup, battery life is reduced. I knew this going in. So, I would like to purchase a utility that allows for better management of the MB Pro hardware so that, say when I am only reading something on screen with no needed hard drive activity, the hard drive goes to sleep faster than the current energy management application requires. This would help increase battery life some (not back to pre two drive setup, but better than now). I want to good utility and cost is no object because the cheap, even free utilities I have used in the past on other things like cleaning your mac tend to make the computer act funny (just trust me on this one).

Mac Bluetooth :: Moving Cursor With More Than One Finger?
I have been considering getting the Magic Trackpad. I went to the Apple store today to try it out. I was a little disappointed. My problem with it is that it requires controlling the cursor with only one finger. With a mouse, you move the cursor with a few fingers, which to me is more natural. With the Magic Trackpad, I kept accidentally resting another finger on the trackpad causing the cursor control to greatly diminish.

I looked in the System Preferences pane for the Magic Trackpad to see if I could change the cursor behavior to move the cursor using more than one finger at a time. I realized later today that I forgot to look at the options for three-finger scrolling. I won't be able to go to the Apple store again for a little while, which is why I'm posting here. I just want to find out whether or not it's possible to control the cursor with three fingers. Can someone who owns the Magic Trackpad look at the Systems Preferences pane to see if three fingers can be used for general cursor control?

I also just did a search online for software that enhances the capabilities of the trackpad. One software enhancement is called BetterTouchTool but I didn't see an option for changing the number of fingers required for moving the cursor.
