MacBook Pro :: Laptop Shuts Off Before Battery Charge Zero

For example, I may start at battery = 100%, and at 20% the laptop shuts off, as I am using (not going into sleep mode due to un-use). The battery seems to go down really fast compared to what it used to be.

MacBook Pro :: Old Battery Doesn't Charge - Shuts Off
I've been having trouble with my battery recently, the computer shuts off without warning and the charger toggles between charging and not so the battery doesn't really charge. I tried to switch to an old battery I have but it's as if there isn't even a battery in there. The charger stays green and the status says "battery not charging."

MacBook Pro :: 85W Magsafe Will Power Laptop But Not Charge Battery
I have 2 Magsafe adapters and I have confirmed this is a Magsafe issue, not one with the computer or battery.

Machine is just shy of 2 years old and so is the magsafe. I am not one who yanks on cables, twists or winds them weirdly or any of those practices that almost certainly lead to cable failure. IN fact, this particular magsafe does not move from its location very often - maybe a dozen times in 2 years.

When plugged in, no light comes on (sometimes I think I can see a VERY dim green glowing, but not sure). It will power the machine just fine, but will not charge the battery. My other adapter works as it always has.

This is very disturbing. I have had all manner of cheap computers and other electronic devices, and have never once had a power supply failure. Apple has THE most expensive power adapter, and it has seem to crumble under its own weight.

I reiterate, I have worked with enough cords and cables for electronics and music instruments and amplification to know how to handle cable without destroying it. The instant I looked at a Magsafe plug, it just screamed "weak." But since it was Apple, I figured they had seen that and addressed it. Nevertheless, I have handled both adapters like babies.

Is there a way to fix this--or is Apple replacing them? Honestly, I would only be slightly annoyed if this were a $30 device, but this is EXPENSIVE and should perform up to Apple's other standards.

Sometimes my MacBook will shut off for no reason, and then it won't charge anymore. It takes a lot of effort to get it to start charging again, but I don't get it. I don't know what's wrong with it. It just started happening randomly, I don't know what to do. It's under warranty, but I wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem as well? If there's any quick fixes please let me know

PowerPC :: IBook Battery Charge Low - Shuts Down Without Warning
My school-computer (iBook 14" 1,42 Ghz G4, running OSX 10.4.10) has developed some unpleasant habbits lately. With lots of batterycharge left, 28-50%, it shuts down without warning. I try to restart it, and it gets to various stages of booting before shutting down again. It won't run untill i plug in the powercable, and then it starts of from almost half full charge. I did a bit of searching on the forums, and installed coconutbattery with the attached (depressing) result. Tried resetting the pmu, which didn't stop it from shutting down on me again 46 mins later. Does this mean I need to replace the battery?

MacBook Pro :: Adapter Light Dim (No Charge) Shuts Down Sporadically
MacBook Pro, bought in April of 2007. I've had this thing for almost three years now and I love it. It's my baby and has been with me through alot. Anyways, I've never had a problem with it before until now. Actually I take that back, the battery went ka-put about a year or so ago when it was under warranty. Regardless, here's the problem: The LED doesn't shine anymore. It's really dim. The battery does not charge at all, it's stuck at 0%, so right now I'm stuck with a really cool desktop.

When I play music from my computer on my stereo, the line out feed has a lot of static interference, like theres a ground or something in the metal casing of the computer. The computer randomly shuts down. I've come to notice it normally does this when it is under "too much" stress. (ie: too many windows or applications open) I use quotations because I bought it w the 3gb upgrade and it never has problems w RAM, so for it to be shutting down the computer when only 4 safari windows or tabs are open is bull..

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Charge Complete Battery / Service The Battery?
been using my older MBP with windows 7 for a while and have never notice oddies with the battery until now. Then recently after replacing the failed HD and re-installing Snow Leopard on my 2007 MBP, the battery panel is telling me "Service Battery"; it's battery health according to coconutBattery is fair for it's age (50%).

the unit (battery) has been replaced previously due to being considered 'under performing'. Is Snow Leopard trying to encurate it's users to replace the battery more frequently? If not, does anyone know why this appears? I'm at lost, since it appears to work fine, if not charging completely.

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Charge Battery / Charging Stucks At 99 Percent With Service Battery
I calibrated my battery for the first time since Dec. When I plugged it in this morning, it took 3 hours to charge all the way, and now it's stuck on 99% full, 0:00 till completely charged, and I'm getting an error when I click on the battery in the menu bar that says "Service Battery". When I click on the error, it tells me that it may not be functioning properly and to take it to an authorized apple service retailer. Before I waste 2 hours by going to the Apple store and back, has anyone else had this problem, and is there a way to fix it without having it looked at?

MacBook Pro :: Laptop Can't Seem To Get A Charge?
The only method I have to charge my laptop on my boat is by a 115V outlet. Both the power converter for the Macbook and the wall socket work fine, and so does my battery, but I think that there may just not be enough power. Is there any way to keep charging my laptop? Possibly a product that will produce either enough amperage or voltage to continuously charge my laptop? I'm going to need to be out on my boat for continuous periods of time for a research project.

MacBook Pro :: Laptop Loses Charge Quickly With Cover Closed?
I just bought a new MacBook Pro with a solid state (flash memory) disk. The battery life is good while I'm using it, but if I leave it with the cover off for a few days (asleep, I assume), it'll be mostly discharged when I open it up. I assume this isn't normal - it shouldn't be losing that much charge when closed and hybernating. I don't have "wake for ethernet access" checked, if that makes a difference. What's going on - why won't it hybernate?

MacBook :: Unable To Use System With Battery / Computer Shuts Down Hwen Start From Battery
My battery needed replacing for a couple of months before i dropped it from about knee level onto a sidewalk. After the drop I got the not charging icon. I thought maybe the battery had just finally died. so I did not panic about the no charge. The laptop works fine when plugged in to power with the old battery on or no battery at all. Not at all when unplugged.

When I put the brand new battery on the lap top, the computer shuts down halfway through boot up. I tried holding the power button down through boot up reset, as well as removing all power (plug and battery) and holding down the power button for 10 seconds reset.

MacBook Pro :: Draining Battery To 0% Shuts Down 10.5.6
On previous laptops and this laptop prior to 10.5.6, when calibrating the battery by letting it drain to 0%, I could immediately reconnect the laptop to the power adapter and then wake it, leaving all of my programs as they were. I was doing this before 10.5.6 and it worked the same way. I just recently, since upgrading to 10.5.6, tried this and the laptop shuts down completely, no sleep. I then have to do a complete power up.

I hope this bug can be fixed as I don't know how I'll ever be able to properly drain the battery to 0% without having to shut down everything on the laptop just as it gets toward zero.

MacBook Pro :: Shuts Down Instead Of Sleep When Out Of Battery
Is it strange that my MacBook now just shuts down when it runs out of battery instead of just going into sleep mode? It's about two weeks old now. It used to go into sleep mode, but now it just shuts down once the battery is down. Also, I had the most wonderful experience with Apple. My first macbook (three weeks ago) had a small chip on the screen. When I finally noticed it, I thought it was a large piece of dust so it wasn't too terrible. I tried to exchange it at the local store where I purchased it, but it had already been four days and I had cut out the UPC for the printer and ipod rebate the day before and sent it out. So they recommended that I go see a mac genius and see if I can get the screen replaced because I could no longer exchange it or return it (risk losing my rebates).

So, a bit upset that I was too prompt about getting the rebates in, I scheduled an appointment with a genius. When I spoke to him, he just went to the back and got the manager. The manager said instead fixing the screen, he'd liked to give me a new macbook and instant reimbursement for the ipod and printer! (the rebates I sent in will be rejected since the mac has been returned). The new macbook I noticed has a much louder superdrive seems to be working hard every time the computer wakes up and when I open it, but that definitely beats a chip on the screen. But now it doesn't go to sleep after the battery gets low, but instead shuts off.

MacBook Pro :: New Battery Not Getting Charge
Our old battery said it was needing to be replaced and my dad went out and bought a new battery for our 15" MBP from 2008 - running SL. I've put it in, it works, I've plugged the power cord into it, and the little light that indicates it's charging doesn't turn on. I checked in the menu and it said the battery isn't charging.

I've already pulled it out and then put it back in, shutting down of course. And I just tried resetting the SMC which has done nothing. It's not under warranty. I've just put the old battery back in and it doesn't seem to be charging it either. I'd be curious if the power cord was faulty, but it's powering the MBP at the moment.

MacBook Pro :: How To Charge Battery
1) When you first get your Macbook Pro, should you let the battery die out completely and then fully charge it? Or should I charge it fully first? Or what? I don't want to mess up the battery with the first charge.

2) Do you leave your Macbook plugged in while you sleep, are not using it, etc? Or is that bad for the battery?

3) I've heard somewhere that it's bad to shut your Macbook off when you go out/go to sleep. Would it be wiser to just set it to "sleep" and keep it plugged in or something?

The battery has 149 cycles on it, which is obviously high (and correct, I use the hell out of it). With it still being in warranty, is it worth pursuing a replacement battery? Will Apple tell me to go take a hike with the high cycle counts?
