MacBook Pro :: Jumping Cursor / Mouse Arrow On Screen?

My cursor (the pointy arrow on the screen) jumps down about one inch when I click on something - it doesn't do it all the time, but say I go to open a new window I suddenly realise nothing has happened and the cursor has jumped down the screen. Is there a way to recalibrate the cursor? Or is there something actually wrong with my hardware?

I have been having all kinds of problems with my mouse. The one on my computer will at times not respond to touch... I thought I had fixed that by wiping it down but it still isnt great... Then my mouse started having the cursor jumping all over the screen... I ended up going and buying a Magic Mouse as the guy at the store said my mouse was going bad... Well I have been great with the magic mouse for about 24 hours and now it is starting to do it again...

OS X :: Erratic Mouse Cursor - Jumping Or Freezing
Problem: Was surfing on my Mac Mini when the cursor starts acting erratically, when I try to move it, either freezing or it jumps all over the screen. I have tried repairing permissions using disk utility, resetting the 'pram', used clamXav to scan for virus. starting in safe mode to repair permissions. Don't think it is the mouse its self, used it on Macbook and it's fine.

Intel Mac :: Mouse Cursor Changes From Arrow To IBeam To Hand At Will
my mouse arrow cursor changes at will - it becomes an ibeam or a hand (like the one used when pointing to a link) and then will switch back to an arrow. I use a Logitech wireless  mouse with plugged in USB receiver.  I turn the mouse off whenever I stop work. I changed the batteries on the Logitech mouse yesterday and it had no effect. I tried using the Magic Mouse (which I love, but which has problems of its own - it eats batteries for breakfast and it's not consistently recognized when I wake up the iMac and I have to resort to the Logitech mouse to get going so I rarely use it) to see if it did the same thing and it does. I am still running 10.6.6 and haven't added any software or done anything strange.  I did update Firefox to 9.0.1 a while back, but things were fine a long time after I did that.

My cursor keeps jumping all around. Someone said it had something to do with the wireless bluetooth app but I disabled it and I am still having the same problem. OS X V10.7 Lion :: Arrow Cursor Pointer Jumps And Teleports Across Screen Every Second
my iMac has this glitch, the cursor jumps or teleports across screen every second. I move it and then it jumps again, always jumps to the same place, same exact pixel everytime. I try to move the cursor quickly (to open safary or hit stand by) but no matter where the pointer is across the 27" screen, it teleports like a clock.

I changed batteries on the trackpad and magic mouse and it didn't work. I turned mouse off, left trackpad on and it didn't work. I tried using a wired mouse and it didn't work. this is obviously not related to the input device.

I would like to restore the input driver with time-machine but I have no idea where the drivers reside in the machine. I also have no idea how to roll-back or reinstall such drivers on a Mac.

this is not the jittery, erratic, jumpy bug. When this glitch is triggered and I have absolutely no clue how or why, sometimes it starts 1 minute after reboot, sometimes 30 minutes; when it is triggered it starts to teleport every second, the arrow jumps to the same spot. it's unbearable since it renders the machine useless. I have to press the power button to send it to sleep, resume and then the glitch is gone, only to come back 5 or 30 minutes afterwards.

Finally, this thing happened last year in november. I wasn't able to solve it back then so I had to reinstall the whole OS Lion, that meant waiting 6 hours for it to download from the appStore (because Apple doesn't allow me to keep a copy LION on my system). I think that's plain silly since it's obviously a very mundane (but annoying) glitch and there's got to be a workarround that doesn't require system restore.

Mac Pro :: Mouse Arrow Skips Across Screen?
Has anyone had problems with the mouse arrow skipping across the screen and not staying on a clickable link? I have tried different mouse - different keyboards - different mouse pads - plugging into different ports, starting up from the disk os (snow leopard) - pram - and just about everything else. Apple is baffled as well and can't give me an answer just yet. They sent me a diagnostic software to run and emailed back to them but still no answer. MacBook Pro :: Unable To Use A4Tech Mouse Smoothly - Difficult To Maneuver The Mouse Arrow
I just bought the latest macbook pro. It is actually my first mac so I'm not really sure if this is supposed to happen. But I tried plugging in my "ordinary pc" (meant to say that is not a Mac mouse) mouse which is an A4Tech brand. It's working when I move the mouse in huge spaces. It goes smoothly that way. But when I try to move it in small little spaces, it's kind of like not going smoothly. Especially when I'm working on small details like Photoshop, it's kind of difficult to maneuver the mouse arrow. I tried other "pc" mouse as well but it's just the same.. Does this really happen if I'm not using Mac's mouse? How do I fix this?

MacBook Air :: Cursor Jumping Around While Moving?
Just got my new 13" Macbook Air today and have been loving it so far. I used it for a while during it's battery drain and didn't notice anything wrong with it. Now I have it plugged in and I notice the cursor is jumping around the screen while I move it. My fingers are as they always are when using a trackpad on Macbook so there isn't anything strange there. I am also only touching it with one finger. If I slowly drag my finger up and down it will just left to right.

What's really strange is if I unplug the Air it will go back to normal. I did see a knowledge base article for troubleshooting this. It does mention something about 3rd party power adapters being a cause. I am using the adapter that came with my Air.

OS X Leopard :: Mouse Is Jumping Around The Screen At Random Intervals?
My mouse is jumping around the screen at random intervals There doesn't seem to be any specific action that causes it. Does anyone know where and what to look at to stop this? It happens about all the time. I have the system preference Expose setup, so when it happens all it either moves all the windows off the desktop or shows them all. Expose is not the problem. It's just the thing that instantly lets me know that the mouse has jumped to one of the corners again. Sometime it happens repeatedly.

MacBook Air :: Jumping Cursor Came Back After 10.7.3 Upgrade
since the upgrade to 10.7.3 on my MacBook Air (4GB mem) I am facing the problem with the jumping cursor again. I had this a while ago when using a Logitech M510, switched then to a Magic Mouse which worked fine.

The cursor is not moving when I don't touch the mouse (I see some other people having that problem which is even more annoying) but when I move the mouse the cursor is following, then stopping, moving again etc.

Now, with 10.7.3, this problem came back, so I assume it's directly related to the upgrade. And I have it with both devices now, the Logitech and the Magic Mouse.

Snow Leopard :: Screen Redraws When Mouse Cursor Touches File
I've started having a weird problem, not sure if it's hardware or OS related. Sometimes when I create a PDF through Distiller watched folders (located on my desktop), if I try selecting the finished PDF in the Out folder with the mouse, my screen repeatedly flickers and redraws. Oddly, if I manage to get the file and move it elsewhere, it still has the weird redraw problem in the other location also. I've even tried recreating those PDFs and get the same problem. Never had this problem before Snow Leopard. I'm on a MacBook Pro, using the NVidia GeForce 9600M GT display, have 4 GB RAM. The MacBook just went out of warranty last week. I'm sure hoping it's just a bug in Snow Leopard. When Snow Leopard arrived, I fully wiped my hard drive and installed the OS and all my software fresh.

MacBook Pro :: Mouse Would Not Track With The Cursor?

Even with the settings all bumped up (tracking, etc), mouse would not track with the cursor.pecifically, to get the cursor to move an inch, I had to move the mouse perhaps 3 inches. When I took it back, I was told it was supposed to work that way, that I was moving it too slowly and I needed to whip it around to get tracking on track.

MacBook Pro :: Mouse Cursor Drop Shadow?
I have funny problem, well more of an annoyance than a problem. On my MBP, after maybe a day or two without rebooting (ie. just closing the lid), the mouse cursor drop shadow disappears and the cursor gets jaggy/aliased edges (imagine the cursor from Windows XP, but black). A reboot will bring it back.

The MacBook Pro is a stock late 2009 17" - 2.8Ghz, 4GB etc. with Mac OS X 10.6.3 (this annoyance has happened since 10.6.1). I have the graphics mode set to performance as 90% of the time I use the machine, I'm plugged in.

I've tried to see if there's a pattern to it, but it's seemingly random. Sometimes it's the same day as a reboot, sometimes I go a whole week without rebooting and still have the proper cursor. It's pretty weird. I originally thought it may have related to opening the lid while on battery power, however it's happened a couple of times when I've opened the lid while plugged.

Edit: Another interesting point.... if I plug an external display in, the cursor gets back its shadow, but then when I unplug the screen, it will return to the jaggy look (until a reboot).

Mac Bluetooth :: Mighty Mouse Acting Jerky And Jumpy / Cursor Seems To Jump Around Screen
I seem to have developed a problem with my cordless Mighty Mouse in the past few days. It's become really erratic - seems to jump around the screen. When I'm moving the mouse to a certain position on the screen, it will just "jump" way over to one side for no apparent reason.

I cleaned the mouse, changed the batteries, checked all the settings. I made a few changes in the Keyboard and Mouse control panel and saved the changes (just to update the preference file) and then reverted back to the old settings. I've tried a different surface (you'd think that would be the main problem - the surface it's on - but that's not the case). Restarted numerous times. Ran YASU. Nothing changes - it just seems to be really "jerky" and "jumpy" all of a sudden.

Has anyone else had this happen and do you have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem? Is this maybe a defective mouse? I've had the mouse for 3 months now.Maybe this is a system software problem? I haven't changed anything on my system in a few weeks - no updates or anything at all.

MacBook Pro :: How To Fix Mouse And Key Cursor Lag
I'm switching over from Vista so still trying to get used to snow leopard. Couple of things that are bugging me:

1) The trackpad seems to lag slightly when I select text or re-position windows on the screen. What I mean is that when I double click and drag to select some text for example, when I lift my finger from the trackpad (which should end the select procedure) and move the cursor elsewhere, text selection still happens. The only way around this is to not touch the trackpad for about a second before I can move the mouse cursor elsewhere. Is there a way to get rid of this 1 second lag?

2) When I'm typing, and want to move the key cursor over my text, when holding down the arrow keys, the cursor still moves over text very slowly. Is there a way to speed this up?
