I have my macbook pro with 2.66GHZ, 320GB, 4GB RAM..It runs properly however it shuts down randomly. Sometimes after one hour other times after just a few minutes. Am wondering what the problem could be. I have done all teh PRAM resets. Thought it was the fan but the fan runs normally.

MacBook Air randomly shuts down whether plugged in or on battery power but not when hooked up to a monitor and using bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Battery fully powered.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLately i have been noticing that my macbook will not stay charged for very long even when it is fully charged. And the most irritating thing is that when it is charging and i am using it, it will randomly shut off.

For the past few days, my mid 2012 15" rMBP has been powering down or sleeping while in the middle of performing tasks, and more importantly when it's ABOVE 15% charge. Just today however, I now have a red battery indication at 52% and holding.
At the time, I had an external monitor plugged into the thunderbolt port closest to the ac adaptor port. I was running Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, but nothing else, and was not connected to the internet. I had turned wifi off. My problems continued until I plugged in. Once on a full charge, I unplugged and the same thing happened all over. Numerous times. So, I disconnected the external monitor, and thought that solved my problem. The next time I used the computer, I put the external monitor into the other TB port and did not have any issues, however I wasn't using the rMBP as extensively.
Today, again while performing tasks such as importing/exporting images with LR & PS, my laptop shut itself down. It runs warm, and fans are purring like crazy, but that's normal for the work I'm doing. Prior to the shut down, the battery read ~24%. I plugged in and woke it up. No external monitor is attached today. I am not running any other programs besides Chrome at the moment. I noticed a red battery light at 52% and it has not changed. Option clicking the indicator shows a "normal" condition.

I have had a Speck hard shell case covering the laptop for a few weeks, but no issues until this week.I am a pro photographer who shoots tethered on location and carries my rMBP around on assignment. It has never been dropped, or damaged in any way.

I have a 13-inch Macbook, Late 2008 model, using iOS Mavericks. While on battery power, the laptop will randomly just turn completely off, despite still having plenty of battery power left. I know it's not a calibration issue where the battery is dead but appears to have charge left, since I'm able to turn the computer back on again and continue using it.

I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro that has been shutting down randomly for quite a while now. It seems to happen most when I have more than one application running but sometimes happens with nothing running at all. It seems that the screen goes off and the sound skips but the keyboard light is still on. I thought it was because I had a bad hard drive but I replaced it and it still randomly shuts down. I ran smart utility and it all passed. I just don't understand what can be causing this? I take this computer to school all the time and it's kind of embarrassing having this shut down on me mid-presentation.

My MacBook Pro 2010 15 inch screen shuts off randomly. The whole laptop doesn't shut off just the screen. It calls it a panic but I have to hold down the power button to shut it off when this happens or it will stay on the black screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI dropped my MacBook by accident earlier today and circa three hours later I am experiencing problems I have never encountered before. Now, my MacBook shuts off every 15 minutes or so and the last time it shut off, the screen went completely dark and the computer began making a regular beeping noise, and it smelt like something was being burnt... Lately I have also been noticing that when charging the charger tends to get heated up easier than before, and to higher temperatures as well.

My new Alu iMac just randomly shuts off. It's happened like 5 times (once while I was typing a paper). I have updated to 10.5, and it has happened twice since the install.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have an old iMac G3 (400mhz slot loading) that I got second hand for free. When I first got it, it seemed to work perfectly in every way, but the hard disk wasn't very big so I tried to install a new (larger) one. Everything seemed to go fine, but after the upgrade, the computer would only stay powered on for about 10 minutes before shutting itself off. I assumed that it was a problem with the hard disk, so I put the old one back, but the problem persisted. It will only stay powered on for a maximum of about 20 minutes before blinking off and then it has to sit for a while before I can get another 20 miutes out of it

Safari randomly shuts down while in the middle of browsing. The rainbow loading icon will appear and then all windows and tabs will close. Then it gives me the option to report or ignore the problem. This happens at least once every day. Also, Software Update does not load. It just says "The Software Update Server (appleupdate.iu.edu) is not responding."

I do not have AppleCare on this machine. I've got a 27" iMac that will randomly shut down, be it in the middle of playing music on iTunes, while I'm typing a document or while the machine is simply in screensaver mode doing nothing. Usually the machine tries to instantly reboot itself. All too often, it cannot be rebooted and I have to let sit for quite sometime before it will even power back on. Lately the problem has gotten worse, almost never reboots by itself.
Finally, in the last few days, it just won't turn back on. Nothing. My biggest concern is that I have an unreleased music album from an instantly recognizable major client on the iMac's hard drive, not due out for many more months and still unannounced. I can't simply take the computer into an Apple store for troubleshooting as those files are worth and could cost me exponentially more than even a new iMac outright ever would.
My mid-2014 15" Macbook Pro randomly "loses" its retina display at the top menu (becomes pixel-y), where the battery, sound, and wifi logos are (on the top right side of the screen). A restart fixes the issue, but I want to know if this is an issue that can be fixed?

I'm considering buying a used MacBook Pro (early 2008) from a seller on eBay. The seller disclosed "Sometimes the machine shuts down after startup" but adds that he does not know why.
Does this sound like something anyone has encountered and if so, was it serious?
My computer started to shut itself down without warning at around 10% battery power when my battery was bad. I bought a new battery, which works fine, but the problem persists. The computer does never tell me that battery is low or anything; it simply shuts down at 10% without warning and I can't seem to be able to do anything about it.

This started about 2 days ago, there was no apparent signs of such a thing going to happen.
My MacBook suddenly shuts down in the middle of my work. Shut down as in a sudden shut down, as if the battery was removed. There is no shutdown process, the whole screen just goes black. I've realized that this happens more recently when watching youtube videos, playing flash games etc.
Example : Computer dies in 10 minutes when watching videos/playing games. Computer dies in a few hours or NEVER when just typing, surfing.
It doesn't seem to be a battery problem. I've removed the battery and had my Macbook run on the Charger before, and it still died on me...

I have a late 2010 MacBook Air.Unfortunately, I'm in a country without an Apple store or any kind of official Apple support (no phone number to call).
2 days ago, I plugged in a little USB modem device (wireless is rare here) and my laptop shut down suddenly. It refused to restart at all until I did an SMC reset and then it was working fine (including with the USB modem plugged in).
However, the next day, the same shut-down occurred (when I plugged in the modem again) and now SMC reset is not doing anything. I've held down the start button for a very long time and there aren't any signs of life. The light on the charger shows that it is charging when I plug it in.

As of a few days ago my MacBook Pro has been acting oddly. When I shut the clamshell and reopen it again a few minutes (or hours) later it's hot and makes sounds as if it is working hard at something but the display will not turn on. I usually end up turning it off anf then on again via the power button. I have a wireless keyboard attached due to damage to the laptop's own keyboard, but use the laptop's power button (which still functions). I've reattached, and reset, the keyboard a few times in case that was the problem but had no luck. It doesn't hinder my usage of the computer once it's on again but it is strange.

I have a Macbook pro (OS 10.8.6), when I put it to sleep by closing the lid or explicitly choosing sleep option,it goes to sleep, but when I open the lid, the machine shutsdown. I have to press the power button for around 30 seconds to start the machine. In the logs I could find--Shutdown due to error code --79 and sleep failure shutdown.
