MacBook Pro :: Internet Connection Not Working - How To Change Network Settings

I have a Macbook Pro with an internet connection that normally works fine. However, in my apartment, we are provided with a cable modem that has only one ethernet cable hook-up. Since we needed atleast two ethernet connections for two computers, we bought a switch that we hooked into the cable modem to give us extra ethernet ports.

Recently, while hooking up my ethernet cord to the switch, I have not been able to connect to the internet. Network Diagnostics tells me my Built-in Ethernet is working correctly, but Network Settings are at yellow, and my ISP, Internet and Server have all failed. I have followed all instructions to check my connections, and restart the modem, switch and computer many, many times but there is no problem with any of these things. The other computer connects fine on the switch and cable modem.

Additionally, under Network in System Preferences, I am being shown that there is an IP address and Subnet mask, so I am assuming there is nothing wrong with the cord, modem or switch (which work fine on the other computer), but there is no Router number, which seems odd. If it helps narrow things down, I am also trying to connect to the internet via DHCP rather than PPPoE, which is what I normally use.

I am guessing I must have accidentally changed something to do with my network settings and it is not adapting to the cable modem any longer. Unfortunately, I do not know how to do this, nor what to change it to if I had to. My landlady knows nothing about what kind of network settings I need to connect to the internet service provider. Other than calling Time Warner Cable (who provides the cable modem with ethernet hook-up)is there anything else I can do or should be considering in order to get my internet connection working?

MacBook Pro :: Access To Network But No Connection To Internet?
Yesterday I updated my iPhone to 4.0, through my macbook pro. Since then or a few hours later, I have totally lost my internet connection on my macbook. Wifi still works fine on the iPhone, and now I have plugged in ethernet, which works without problems.

I can find my local network, but I get a warning that I have no connection, if I deplug the cable. I have rebooted modem, router and mac. No difference. I have turned airport on and off, still nothing.

I recall to have had this problem before, but I have forgotten the solution..

As the title implies above the WLAN Card on my MPB keeps loosing its connection to the internet, and the only way to resolve it is to run Network Diagnostics. MacBook Pro :: Connect To Internet - Ethernet / Network Settings Says Not Connected
My Macbook Pro was just delivered to me today and I've been trying to get it to connect to the internet. My downstairs computer has a wireless internet connection and I have been trying to access that connection. The name of the network comes up onto my Mac and it shows its connected, but in the Network settings the Ethernet, FireWire, and AirPort all say not connected. I have looked in the manual and around the site and have not found anything to solve my problem, so I was hoping someone here had the answer.

I'm looking for a solution to my WiFi internet connection.I haven't used my MacBook Pro laptop in the last week or so - which means there is no way I have done any changes to the network configuration. MacBook Pro :: Internet Connection Stops Working Connected To Wifi Hotspot?
I use a 4G Galaxy Nexus to broadcast a private WPA2 network.  The 4G signal is always strong, and I've verified that the internet is active on the broadcasting device, and that other non-Apple devices maintain a solid connection.  However my macbook pro does not lose the network connection, the internet stops working only on the macbook pro and I must "turn Wifi Off" and back on using the top right menu icon in order for the internet connection to resume working on the laptop. It will stop working every 5-10 minutes.

Mac Pro :: Internet/Ethernet Network Connection Slows To A Crawl?
The last few days I've had a problem where the Internet network connection speed on my Power Mac slows to a crawl (about 1Mbps) and can only be fixed by re-starting the Mac which restores normal connexction performance for a while. The Internet connection runs at around 35-37Mbps and is routed via a BT HomeHub 3. The laptops which connect via WiFi don't show any slowdown in speed tests, only the Mac Pro, which is connected to the Hub via Ethernet. I've tried swapping between the two Ethernet ports on the Mac but it doesn't make any difference. The HomeHub has been in for about 5 months but this problem has only just started in the last week or so and the period for which the restart restores the network performance seems to be decreasing. Is there any way to reset network software, or some prefs I could delete? It's an early 2008 eight-core Xeon MacPro running 10.6.8, 8GB RAM.

OS X Tiger :: Airport Connection Not Made To Wireless Network "Network Settings Have Been Changed"
Last night I backed up my MacBookPro by connecting it to my desktop Mac with the MacBookPro in target disk mode. The backup completed, but I allowed the battery on the laptop to deplete. After restarting the laptop, my airport connection was not made to my wireless network. After connecting, I checked the System Preferences - Network. I get a message: "Your network settings have been changed by another application." with an "OK" button. After clicking OK, the message returns. It won't go away. I have been able to click the "click the lock to prevent further changes" in between message return to stop it. System Preferences becomes confused and I must force quit. MacBook Air :: DHCP Stopped Working - No Automatic Network Connection
I have Macbook Air SSD running Leopard 10.5.2 (9C7010). Boot ROM version MBA11.00BB.B03. It would appear that in the middle of the day, DHCP just stopped working. It doesn't matter whether wireless or connecting via the USB ethernet adapter. If I want to get network connectivity, I have to manually assign the right IP address, router address, subnet mask and DNS addresses. While I was traveling from UK to India this weekend, DHCP just stopped working - default "Automatic" network location. It worked at home, it worked from the BA airport lounge. When I arrived at hotel in India, I could not connect. Network Prefs reported a locally assigned IP address.

I contacted their IT dept and got static IP address, router address, DNS addresses, and then everything was fine again. In the office in India, no joy again with DHCP and it reported locally assigned IP address. Again, when I got static IP/router/DNS from our IT helpdesk, everything was fine. Now I returned home, and it's just the same. DHCP not working, but if I assign a static IP address on my own home 10.x.x.x subnet and manually tell it the gateway address and DNS servers, everything is fine again. I have rebooted quite a few times. I didn't install any new software or change any settings - it seems to have simply stopped working on the plane between UK and India!

OS X :: Network At Home For Internet Connection
I am going to move into a new house soon. I am looking to network the house, so I can use the internet anywhere, share movies, etc. This is my current setup at my apartment.
1 x Mac Mini connected to my TV in the lounge
1 x Apple TV connected to the TV in the bedroom
1 x Main PC in the study room (which all my movies/tv series/music/etc... is stored)
2 x Laptops
1 x Apple 20" Cinema Display

The mac mini is connected via ethernet to the router & the apple tv is connected via WiFi. Its currently a small place so the apple tv can access the router's wireless signal. This is what I have in mind for our new house which kinda big in size. Trash the PC and buy a mac mini server and external NAS storage. The NAS storage will store all the movies/tv series/mp3's/etc. I currently have a ubiquity nanostation2 which I can setup to boost the wireless signal throughout the house so we can use wireless anywhere in the house & tv mac mini, laptops & apple tv can access the wireless (so i do not have to install ethernet cables throughout the house). Also in the future, I would want to install security cameras outside the house (still trying to find a good mac OS X security camera software). Before I buy the mac mini server & NAS, am i missing anything or is there another better solution?

OS X :: Leopard Internet Sharing Network But No Connection
I recently did a clean install of leopard and then migrated my account back on to my MBP non-santa rosa 2.33. Now, when I attempt to internet share from my ethernet to computers using airport, they are able to see the network, connect to it, and put in the password, but internet fails to connect. I'm on a college network, but this shouldn't really matter since I currently have a network of this type working perfectly on an iMac running Tiger. The signal reads at full strength and behaves just like it should, just it doesn't allow an internet connection. No firewall is on.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Change Print Settings On A Mbp / Printer Settings OSX 10.5?
I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!

OS X Tiger :: Network / Internet Connection Drops After Few Minutes
Symptoms: Network/internet connection just goes away.
When: After about 5-30 minutes that the computer is on (maybe longer sometimes).
Activity: Anything to nothing. Sometimes it's been idle for hours and it just doesn't connect.
Recovery: Reboot works every time. Any amount of fiddling with the network connections fails. Looking at the system preferences shows the connection is still valid. If I change locations, nothing happens. If I try to ping my router, time-out.

I'm thinking it has to be related to an update some time ago as I don't have much 3rd party stuff in the mix. Running straight LAN connection to Linksys using static IP. Yes I know the Linksys and my cable modem are fine as the other 3 computers that I have experience no interruptions.

But my iMac & laptop take a while to load pages & usually don't load all the content on the pages. I'm not an expert on setting up networks, but I know a little bit about it. I used the Setup Assistant to install the network. Is there anything that I can do to speed up the connection? I wasn't sure if this is a problem with the ISP or with the computers. Windows On Mac :: Network Connection Not Working With Xp Sp3 On Mp
So I have a mac pro, sick machine, love it, and want to play some older games, such as half life 2 as the mac port glitces and sucks for me.

So here's my endeavors with Boot camp. Ran the partition and inserted my windows disk.... a note on that. I did not have a xp with SP2 or better so I made one using a program and "slipstreamed" SP3 into it.

I then installed xp. Had a problem thou. When it wanted to start windows for the first time it rebooted and then never went anywhere but a blank screen. I rebooted it manually and it dumped me into windows just fine. No sound, and many other drivers missing. It did not ask me for my Leopard disk like many said it would. So I inserted it and it installed all the missing drivers for me.

However, the network connection did not work. everything else save my numpad seems to work. I have no idea where to start. I have done everything I do on my PC Laptop set up to run fine within windows and the router. I even installed Bootcamp 2.1 as a post said it might be a problem there. IT did say it must be installed prior to SP3 but thats not really possible with my system due to it (SP3) installed with windows prior to reading about the 2.1. I need to connect so I can download files I need to run the games I wish to with this thing, otherwise I wouln't bother.

I have Verizon FiOS as my provider.. and I know that airport express has a history of trouble with the Actiontec router. Is there anything i can do with my current equipment to get this thing to work? I do not need to extend the network.. only join to use airtunes and print wirelessly... Also, my Actiontec router and FiOS connection are through my crappy dell pc downstairs, while i am using my 24" iMac upstairs in my bedroom trying to connect this. Should i change my router's settings?
