MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect To Internet With USB Mobile Broadband
I just bought my MacBook Pro this week and have been trying to connect to the Internet via a 3 mobile broadband USB. The icon appears on the desktop, however everytime I try to open it, a message appears saying "AutoOpen quit unexpectedly" and I can't find an option to connect via network diagnostics! Also worth noting, the USB works perfectly fine on my older G4 eMac.

MacBook Pro :: Macbook Pro With Option 225 Mobile Broadband Doesn't Work
I usually works on a PC-computer and use to work mobile with my mobile modem Option 225. With the PC it worked great, now I've found out the magic in using a Mac, my problem now is that the Mac almost dies when I place the modem in the USB. I've downloaded the latest software published and upgraded my Mac but directly when I place the modem in the USB the black screen gets all over the display and the it says "You need to restart.....". What can I do to make it work?

MacBook Aluminum :: Huwaei Mobile Broadband USB Modem
I did a search but I couldn't really find a topic relating to this issue directly; I recently purchased a mobile broadband contract, and they supplied me with a Huwaei USB modem, and it has been near useless, disconnecting and slow, with all graphics compressed and low quality (I assume as a kind of speed optimiser) and these are all the things I can live with really, to be expected of dial up PPP style connections unfortunately (brings back memories!) but it is some other issues that are bugging me: When I disconnect and directly quit the Huwaei app, I get a kernel panic and an error log on rebooting relating to the mobile device, almost 100% repeatable. If I disconnect, then switch to another app, say even Finder, then back and quit, it is fine! Its a very consistent problem. It seems cause various strange kernel type problems and flakiness, which I've never experienced on this computer before. It also does this strange thing when it will disconnect, and give me a waiting for PPP termination message, before powering down completely, despite having a full battery. I'm 80% sure my battery is fine, although I am looking into this one. If any one else has had any probs with mobile broadband, it'd be good to hear what and if/how you found solutions.

OS X :: Mobile Broadband - No Pictures Are Coming Up?
have just gone onto an 18 month contract with tmobile, and it is working fine - speed and connection wise.

Now I have the aluminium macbook (if that makes a difference...) and for some reason, whenever I go onto a webpage, 90% if not all the images dont load.

For example on this forum, the mac rumors: forums logo comes up, but when looking at smilies and stuff in the thread they do not.

They have blue boxes with ? marks in them.

This happens on every website I go onto. I have tried safari and firefox and the same thing happens in both.

I have windows 7 on here aswell that I boot into using boot camp, and it works perfectly fine on there - so its definitly a mac related issue.

The stick I am using is the 530 stick from tmobile.

OS X Leopard :: Sharing A Mobile Broadband Connection?
after moving to an area with a really crap broadband service (320k!) i want to find a better alternative than the useless bt landlines.

If i get a mobile broadband usb modem, is there any way to use this to feed internet to two wireless laptops?

I don't really wan to get into the expense of two mobile dongles and accounts, as this is purely for home use.

Is the "internet Sharing" option in the system prefs really a viable option? can that work over a wireless setup?

If its any use, i do have an airport express thats currently not being used for anything?

Hardware :: Using 3G Modems And Mobile Broadband - Best For Mac?
I've been using 3 (UK) mobile broadband for about the last year now, paired with a Huawei E220 USB dongle. At times this has worked well, but it quite often has unexplainable issues which I'm growing tired of.

I'm wondering what experience others have had with 3G modems for the Mac. Are there any particular modems that worked especially well for you?

Likewise with UK providers - is there anyone in particular you've found to work well? For reference I'm looking at general use in and around London where the 3G coverage is pretty good.

I'm leaning toward the Vodafone USB Modem Stick 'Pro' on a 24 month package for 15 per month. Their network appears to be one of the fastest (7.2mb), Voda's coverage is generally good, and the modem has the bonus of doubling as a USB drive with the addition of a microSD card.

OS X :: Since Installing My Mobile Broadband - No Pictures Show Up
so I dont know why, but I have recently purchased a tmobile mobile broadband stick on an 18 month contract, but for some reason the pictures are not showing up.

For example , when making a thread, all the smilies and stuff have those white question marks in blue boxes.

Apparently the dongle just makes the mac all messed up and go crazy, and is reversible - have had a look on the web , but to no avail.

Mac Bluetooth :: Unable To Configure Internet Access Via Mobile Phone's Data Connection?
I have a Palm Treo 755p which I have successfully used in the past to access the Internet via the data connection.

I just recently attempted to configure this on my new MacBook Pro. I am able to successfully pair the phone with the computer with the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. At the end of the pairing process I select the checkbox 'Access the Internet with your phone's data connection' and this takes me on to another form. This next form used to allow me to select the phone vendor, phone model and provide the required login information. This form does not allow me to do this now because the two drop down lists and the three text boxes are all inactive (grayed out). The two drop down boxes are set to the defaults 'Generic' for Phone Vendor and 'Bluetooth LAN Access' for Phone Model. All I can do is check/uncheck the two boxes at the bottom labeled 'Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar' and 'Show Modem status in the menu bar'. I am able to click the continue button, but the resulting modem configuration does not work since I could not provide the correct details.

I've tried pairing and removing the phone a few times and I've removed the various Bluetooth application preferences for my user account. I've verified the modem script I've used in the past for this phone is on the system still under /Library/Modem Scripts/.

Anyone have any idea why I can no longer configure these details that I used to be able to? Any ideas on other things I could try to fix this?

MacBook Pro :: Mobile Internet Not Working
I have a Bell Mobile Internet Stick and my Macbook Pro doesn't recognize it. I have installed The Bell Mobile Connect software numerous times and nothing. it will find the hardware, and when i select connect, it ask for my password. Once my password is entered, a crash report comes up wanting to send it to Apple. On my hackintosh dell mini 10v under the network preferences it has a connection for Novatel CDMA connection, but I cannot get that to come up on my genuine MBP. Any ideas to get this working? Unfortunately this is the only source of internet i have and i am on the netbook to post this. I recently upgraded my hard drive to a 500gb Seagate from my standard 160gb drive the computer came with, I did an install onto the hard drive from my Snow Leopard install disc, and when prompted transferred all of my files from a previous time machine back up.

Software :: Unable To Start Snow Leopard / Installed Software For Mobile Broadband Usb

The only thing I've done since my last restart is install software for mobile broadband usb.

I can't reinstall my system software because it's "old" (ie 10.5.7 and I've installed 10.6).

Mac Pro :: Password Protect Internet Access To Avoid Others To Connect To Internet?
currently I connect to the internet by doing this: Go to System Preferences / Network. Then I select my internet provider name on the left pane and finally click on the Connect button. That's all. This internet profile has a PPoE service name, an account name and a password. My internet connection uses a cable DLink router (it's not wireless).

1) Does the password I mentioned above mean that my neighbors can't access my internet, or are they able to do that and, in this case, I need to set another password somewhere else?

2) If I need another password, how and where do I set it,

MacBook Pro :: Connects To Network But Can't Access Internet?
I have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and it connects to wireless networks perfectly. It also connects using ethernet. The problem is that when I actually try to access the internet, I can't. I can't use any browsers or iChat or anything that needs internet access. When I start Firefox or Safari they start in offline mode, and when I switch offline mode off and hit retry I get error messages saying that the server could not be found. When I open iChat it says that I am disconnected.

I'm positive that there's nothing wrong with the actual network because my internet doesn't work on two different networks in two different states, that many other computers are connected to and functioning properly. This is also the reason that I'm fairly certain it isn't a problem with my ISP either.

MacBook Pro :: Frequently Losing Internet Access - Timeout Error?
I'm on a boat in Fiji, using a Vodafone wireless dongle, and keep losing my connection. My vodafone software and my apple network software show I'm still connected, but suddenly I can't get into another page, or if I'm downloading a software update, I get a message that I have a timeout error. I then disconnect my connection and re-connect and then things start happening again. However, I have not been able to stay active long enough to download my apple software updates which is really frustrating. It seems to happen more often when I'm downloading something sizeable, like a video or software update, but happens other times as well. I'm a mac novice, (bought this, my first mac about 10 months ago) and not terribly computer savvy to begin with. Looking through this forum, I'm confused by much of what I read, but I'm beginning to think this problem may be beyond my capacity to solve.

MacBook Pro :: Battery And Usb Broadband Modem
got my mbp 15 i5 last week, ive been testing my battery, already recalibrated and all that.. i get 8+ hours on full charge on idle.. pretty average on normal use, around 5-6 hours. anyways so while i was testing my battery, i decided to unplug my usb broadband modem to see how much battery it's draining from my laptop. but to my surprise my battery life went down from approximately 3 hours left, to 2 and half ! i even waited 5 minutes so it can properly calculate it, but it didnt increase. so my question is wuzzup widat?! shouldnt it be the other way around? i was planning on canceling my wireless broadband contract when it expires and just wirelessly tether my newly jailbroken iphone via mywi for internet access, but its seems like wifi is a minus on the battery, but usb modems are actually a plus.

OS X Leopard :: Internet - Connection Via Mobile
Very often I use internet from my macbook via mobile phone. To make a connection I always do some steps: turn on the bluetooth, go to Preferences-Network, click on the Bluetooth on the left side of the pane and then click the "connect"-button. It is possible to make an overflow or script for all this actions. I'm trying to do one, but can't manage to figure out some commands needed... All I managed to do is: tell application "System Preferences" activate set current pane to pane [URL:...] tell application "System Events" to click checkbox "On" of window "Bluetooth" of application process "System Preferences" et current pane to pane [URL:...] after that I want the script to choose the "bluetooth" on the left side of the pane and press the button "connect".

OS X :: Wireless Mobile Internet Card
My parents are taking a much needed vacation. I suggested to my mom she take the laptop i bought them a few years ago (a rarely used 17" PowerBook). And of course they will need a mobile internet card. But its not like they are jet-setters or use that laptop outside of the house very often, if ever. Their mobile phone carrier is Sprint. But it looks like all their internet card options are for a 2 year contract. I'm looking for something for either a very short or no contract. I even checked through AT&T, which is what i have, but everything seems like a 2 year contract. They get a vacation once every two years . Ideally, i was hoping for a one month data cost and either "renting" (??) an internet card, or buying one if they had to.

OS X :: T Mobile Internet Draining Hard Drive
I have a MacBook, which runs OS X 10.4.11 with a 2GHz processor and 2BG 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory (whatever that means). Anyway, I've recently got a T-Mobile USB Broadband stick (it's awful and I feel bad that my girlfriend bought it me, so don't ever buy one!) and I discovered yesterday, after much experimenting, that it was this that is running down my hard drive space considerably. I deleted around 10Gb of user support that I didn't need, and within a day it was gone. When I'm not using it, the space on the HD remains the same. I'm not downloading anything and have hardly streamed anything other than a few Spotify songs. My question is, where is the space going and can I get it back? I downloaded OmniDiskSweeper, and there is a log file of 10Gb. The log file is called 'console.log.5' and in the folder called '501' in the 'Console' folder. Can this be deleted without consequences?
