MacBook Pro :: How To Remove Icons From Desktop
So Im a new Mac owner and still trying to figure out how to use this. I installed my MP480 Cannon all-in-one printer and these two icons for an on-screen manual and user registration are on my desktop under my Macintosh HD con. They are on the desktop and not the dock. But when I tried to move them to the trash they erased from my finder menu. How do I remove these icons from my desktop without deleting them in my finder permanently?

MacBook Pro :: How To Remove Some Of The Menu Bar Icons
I have a lot of icons in my menu bar and I thought I saw reference to an app one can run that only has like one menu bar action that will free up most of the space so one can see the other menu bar icons. Does anybody know the name of this app or have any suggestions (other than "remove some of the menu bar icons"?

MacBook Pro :: How To Get Icons Off Desktop
I just got a Mac and I'm still learning things. Whenever I download something new it tells me to drag it to my applications folder, which I do, and it goes away. Next time I open the program, the icon reappears on my desktop and tells me to drag it again. I do, and it says there's already a copy of the program in the apps folder, so I replace it. It's a never ending process. Information: Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

OS X :: No Desktop Icons - How To Put Icons Back On Desktop
Okay, I'm having some problems with my Powerbook. Yesterday, I upgraded Firefox. When re-opening after the upgrade, I had a kernel panic. I restarted my computer and figured I would be good to go. Well, after logging back in, I found that Finder was acting up and I no longer had any desktop icons. Now, clicking the Finder icon in the dock will open a new Finder window just fine. If I go to the Desktop from there, all my icons are still there. So, I decided to restart my computer and see if that made a difference.

MacBook Pro :: Itunes Backups Icons On The Desktop?
Having just migrated from windows I'm still trying to get my head around downloading music movies etc from my back up discs I made from itunes. I've reinstalled itunes on my new MBP and afterwards it puts a blue movie and music folder on the desktop. I'm not sure what to do with these as they must contain the actual music and movies. before I deleted these folders and found that when I tried to access the music a window couldn't locate it. So I did a 2nd back up.

MacBook Pro :: Desktop Icons Moving And Growing In Size
We just purchased a MacBook Pro 15", 2.8GHz. I transferred all my files from my old MacBook via FireWire. Everything seems to work fine. The only problem I have is that my desktop items keep moving after I organize them the way I want them. And they also growing in size each time. I have only about 8 icons on my desktop and they take up almost the whole screen. Information: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.6.2) 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

MacBook Pro :: OS X 10.5.8 Desktop Background Freezing, Icons Inaccessible?
I have a late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro. For the past few months, the background has been freezing, but recently it has been much more frequently. All applications seem to work fine, even the dock is accessible, but any thing that I have on the desktop that isn't in the dock does not respond. Often one of the icons is highlighted when it's frozen, but I am not able to click on any other icons and highlight them. When I click and drag, the translucent box still appears, but I am still unable to select--or deselect--any of the icons. Not as often, some of the icons will disappear when it freezes, or if I save something to the desktop, the icon does not show up--this is what usually leads me to realizing that it is frozen. The only way to fix it has been to restart the computer. Information: MacBookPro5,1 Mac OS X (10.5.8) Late 2008 Unibody

MacBook Pro :: Moving Hard Drive Icons On Desktop
I recently purchased 3 LaCie 1TB D2 quadra hard dives and daisy chained them to my MacBook Pro using the FireWire 800. I use one for the Time Machine, one to store my photos and one for back-up of my photos. This Lacie icon associated with a HD appears on my desktop and I can also access the HD files from File Finder window. I tried to move the icon to another folder but the Icon still stays on my desktop. The only way I found to remove it from my Desktop was to Eject it and that removes it from my File Finder too. Is there way to remove it from my desktop and keep it on my File. Information: 15.4- inch MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.3)

OS X Leopard :: Desktop Icons Won't Display On Desktop
I recently installed a couple of what seemed to be interesting menubar items (MenuStrip and Isolator). Shortly after (not concurrent with) I lost the icons that show up on the Desktop of files in the Desktop folder. The files are all intact - nothing lost, they just don't show up on the Desktop. I've removed these two applications using AppZapper, run the new DiskWarrior 4.1.1, repaired the permissions, run repair disk from Disk Utility, reinstalled Leopard from the DVD, and now I'm at a loss on how to bring back those icons. I'm running OS X 10.5.5 on an Intel Mac Mini. I use a Newer MiniStack as my boot drive. If I boot from the internal drive (which is virtually virgin from the day of purchase), the Desktop icons from that user are displayed as they should be. Is there someway to "rebuild" the Desktop or otherwise bring things back to normal? Information: Intel Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.5.5)
