MacBook Pro :: Hard Drive Icon Disappeared - How To Locate

I was trying to move my hard drive over to my desktop since it wasn't already there. In the processing of dragging it and dropping it it just disappeared and I can't find the icon for it at all. Anyone know how I can locate it?

MacBook Pro :: Hard Drive Icon Appeared For Few Seconds During Startup
Powered on my MacBook, as it was starting up, a hard drive icon appeared right where the spinning wheel should have been for a few seconds on a gray screen, took me by surprise! Just as I'm about to panic, it disappears, and then it boots as normal.... spinning wheel finally appeared. However, after the spinning wheel was spinning for a few seconds, it did hang for several seconds with no spinning before finally showing the little apple logo. I was worried something bad was going on, but my desktop finally appeared with everything intact. why the hard drive icon would show like that? Should I be concerned?! I was starting up on battery, 100% charged, but never saw this before.

MacBook Pro :: Hard Drive Icon Missing - Date Incorrect?
Last night I left my charger at a friend's house, so it ended up dying completely. When I turned it on again, it alerted me that my date was set to something prior to 2008, (Actually December 2000) and that this could cause problems. Also, it no longer remembered my wifi password (which I have had saved for a little over a year now, with no problems.)I also noticed that my hard drive icon was missing!

I restarted the computer, hoping that would fix my problem. When it didn't, I checked for an update and got everything updated. The date is now correct, but my hard drive icon is still missing.I did at some point back up my computer onto a portable hard drive via time machine, but it has been a few months, and I don't know if I would lose any data that I have used or obtained until this point?

Mac Pro :: Internal Hard Drive Disappeared From Finder View
I have a 1TB Seagate Barracuda (ST31000340AS) in my Mac Pro - 2 year old drive.
Yesterday, the drive just up and disappeared from my Finder view.
I tried a number of steps to get it back, but have had no luck, such as:
.. Turning computer off and on
.. Tried mounting in Disk Utility and Disk Warrior
.. Removed drive and installed in external FW enclosure

I'm guessing the thing is faulty, but am wondering if the wise souls here have any other ideas or recommended steps to recover the drive or the data. I've seen some crazy ideas like freezing or dropping the drive, but I'd like to take some sensible steps first. I would certainly appreciate the help as there was some very valuable data on the drive. (For the record, I was relying on a service called BackBlaze for backups, but when I went to recover online, I found that they had only stored about 1/2 of the data... but that's an issue I need to sort out with them separately.)

MacBook :: Unable To Locate My Hard Drive / Unable To Rename Or Create Partition
After my macbook hard drive kindly failed on me, I ordered a new Seagate Momentus 5400.5, 320gb hard drive. I popped that sucker in this afternoon and began to start up my macbook with the OS X disc 1. Everything was going smoothly, except that it can't find the hard drive. It is recognized under my disk utility, but when I click to partition it, select options, select GUID, click 'OK', I can neither Name it 'Macintosh HD' or do anything else.

I can't proceed with anything because when it asks me to select a HD, the HD does not show up. Again, everything works except that the hard drive is not found. I pulled the hard drive out. Made sure the screws were alright. Made sure everything was all snuggly, and yet it still won't work.

Intel Mac :: Cannot Locate Restored Files On Hard Drive
My hard drive failed on my iMac (Intel), Apple Store replaced the hard drive, brought it home, hooked up the Time Machine, selected a backup date, restore. It showed the content loading for 4 hours. Once complete, the iMac still looks nothing like the old. Open the Macintosh HD and Info shows that the 230 GB transferred, but I can't find the folders anywhere. When actually opening the Macintosh HD, its only new folders and the new setup. Where do I find the restored content?

Power Mac G5 :: Ignore Option Selected - New Disk Drive Icon Disappeared
I put a new 1TB internal disc drive in my Dual 1.8 GHz G5 Tower. I have never done this before.

Here is what happened:

1. My new disc drive could be seen but not read. It showed up in Disk Utility but I got the red box asking to Initialize/Ignore/Eject it. I chose Initialize but got nowhere (Contacted Western Digital Support)
2. Tried unplugging and replugging. At one time when I started up the G5 and got the Initialize/Ignore/Eject red box, I mistaken chose Ignore.
3. Since then, the new disc drive icon ("Media") has disappeared. I've done all kinds of stuff to possibly make the drive work (including putting a jumper on the 5 & 6 pegs, second two above and below from the left of the pegs), but my G5 still doesn't see the disc there.

OS X Leopard :: IPhoto Library Disappeared From Hard Drive
I am going to post this on both iPhoto and Time Machine forums, since problem is that when switched backup drives, my entire iPhoto Library disappeared from my hard drive. The iPhoto Library appears to be in the Picture folder, says 22.2GB. But when open iPhoto, it's blank, photos, events, albums all at zero. When try to relaunch holding down option key and select the iPhoto Library in Pictures, I get no photos in iPhoto, but 4,555 in deleted photos. It is probably the iPhoto Library.

Background:
I had a 250GB Mercury Elite-Al Pro which backed up my iMac (Intel/08). TM was working fine, b/c a week ago, I had to use it to reinstall and restore the entire hard drive. It is possible that iPhoto did was not restored. I do not recall looking at iPhoto. Then got a new 1.0TB Mercury Elite-Al Pro, intending to switch TM and backup to new back up drive, and to use old 250 Mercury as an additional backup for photos.

I plugged in new 1.0TB Mercury, and switched TM to it. Looked at iPhoto, and it's blank. Tried to restore iPhoto Library from new backup, but empty. Does that mean that neither hard drive or new backup has iPhoto Library. Should I switch back to 250 GB backup, and using TM, restore to iPhoto Library? Or should I connect to the 250 GB backup, relaunch iPhoto, and select library in TM? I've always been confused: where does iPhoto put/keep/store its Library?

OS X :: Cannot See Files On External Hard Drive (Data Disappeared)
I am trying to use my hard drive I have had for a couple years to back up some files on my computer, but the data I had stored on there already has disappeared. I previously had the hard drive connected to the Time Machine application, but have not used it in over a year when I received an error message trying to backup my computer using that application.

I know the data I already had on there is still on the hard drive because nearly half of the space on the drive is used up, but when I plug the hard drive in to my computer and open it there are no files to be found. I want to back up the current files on my computer, but I don't want to risk losing what I already had on the hard drive, so is there any way I can find and access the old files again?

I'll include my hardware information on here in case that helps to find a solution:
2006 MacBook Pro 15"
Intel Core Duo
Mac OS X 10.5.8
1TB Western Digital My Book: Studio Edition II

OS X Leopard :: External Hard Drive Icons Have Disappeared From Desktop?
I have 4 external drives, 3 G-Tech and 1 LaCie, I don't have them on permanently and today I switched them on for my usual backups but the icons didn't appear. My finder prefs shows External disks checked and indeed if I check/uncheck Hard disks they switch on and off but external disks there is nothing.

I can see the drives in Disk utility and can open them from there and my backup app "Databackup" can see them and backup files as normal. I've unplugged/plugged all relevant cables, shut down, restarted, verified disks (no problems) all to no avail. I haven't updated any software since I last used them (yesterday) so I'm at a loss.

IMac Intel :: Internal Hard Drive Disappeared After OS X Update
I've been using a 2TB external HD for the last 6 weeks or so as my main startup drive. When I set it up, I wiped the internal drive, reformatted it with Snow Leopard and partitioned a Boot Camp Windows partition. I'm backing up using a 500GB backup which for now is covering me just fine. All of my drives were accessible and worked fine. But after the last big OS X update, neither my internal drive nor my Windows drive are showing up on my desktop. I thought it might just need to be repaired so I opened Disk Utility to erase and repair the drive and reset it all up. The icon for the internal disk shows up, but it's called Media, and I've never titled that disk setup as that.

The info at the bottom of that window is as follows:
Disk Description: Media
Connection Type: SATA
Connection Type: Internal
Total Capacity: 0 Bytes
Write Status: Read/Write
S.M.A.R.T Status: Not Supported
Partition Map Scheme: Unformatted

Under First Aid, all of the buttons are grayed out. No Verify Disk or Repair Disk. Under Erase, none of the buttons are available. Under Partition, it won't allow me to rename the disk, and the buttons are gray. I've tried using Disk Utility from both the startup drive Apps/Utilities folder and also from starting up using the System Install CD, and the options are the same, nonexistent. I've been using Macs for 25 years and am not new to fixing problems, but this is a first for me. It took me a long time to trust starting up from an external drive, but the 2TB lure was just too much. However, I need to know that if something happens, I still have my internal drive to fall back on. And right now, I'm freaking out a little (on the inside).

I was using my new MacBook and suddenly I noticed that sound disappeared. I tried restarting the system, reinstalling everything but it stills the same: it doesn't recognize anything in relation with sound, no output/input devices, no sound effects, and it's marked the mute option and you can't change it. By the way, the sound icon disappeared from the menu bar leaving a blank space there. MacBook Pro :: Audiable Click Sound Of Hard Drive / Protection Of The Hard Drive Dropped?
Got a new MBP last month to replace my white MacBook - loving it as an upgrade but one gripe - if I'm sat using it on my knee I regularly hear the "click" type noise of what I imagine is the protection of the hard drive because it thinks it is being dropped.

I never heard this on my old Mac and while it's not a huge issue it is a bit disconcerting, as though I'm being told off for moving it in a fairly responsible way.
