While installing microsoft office i recive this error.
"office 2011 14.4.2 Update can't be installed on this disk. A version of the software requried to install this update was not found on this volume. "
I just got a copy, with multiple licenses from work of Microsoft 2008, since my new MacBook Pro didn't have it...it only had the trial version. I Installed it the other day, but every time I click to open anything up, it comes up with the free trial version and asks me to put in a product key, or buy one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDownloaded latest MS Office 2004 Security Update 11.6.0, and it has poisoned my entire Office suite of apps. Since loading, I cannot access Entourage, Word, or any other Office apps. Error messages pop up repeatedly every time I try to open them. "MS Office library files may have been moved from original location. Reinstall Entourage, etc." For the last 6 years, this software and previous updates have worked flawlessly. This really stinks!!! Do I reload original software over the top of the existing apps., or is there another easier work around that I can use to get back into my MS Office apps.? I am running OS 10.4.11 Tiger with older Power PC processor.

and the same message for other applications. i have done nothnig wrong (i guess so) it just happened. as I am running on MAC OSX 10.5.6 , is it necessary to upgrade to "Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update".
I'm having an issue with Microsoft Word 2011 Beta 6. No matter what I save, it out puts this same pink image file, that appears to repackaged as a open xml word document. A little digging with this file tells me that it contains active code, and it's origins are from the save and savex command line tools (now part of 2011 to support vb macros) Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know of a possible solution? I'm being accused of intentionally corrupting files at my high school....

Since installing Office it has been replaced by a question mark in a box. I haven't encountered this problem elsewhere yet.Could installing Office have altered other files or fonts to cause problems?

Does anybody know when Microsoft plans on releasing a newer version of Microsoft Office for Mac? One of my co-workers currently own the 2008 version and he's really unhappy with it. He has an excel file that's around 4MB in filesize, containing some 11,000 rows and a bunch of columns too and it's really slow to work with (he has a 1 year old MacBook Pro) and some times excel also "runs out of memory" it says and the application just freezes. It should be updated properly etc, but I wonder if maybe a newer version more suited for Snow Leopard, might be released soon?

The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.2 Update
The 12.1.2 update for Office 2008 for Mac [159.6MB] is more substantial, repairing a global issue that prevented all Office 2008 applications from running AppleScript scripts from the Script menu, while also delivering a number of individual fixes for Word, Excel and Entourage.
More specifically, Microsoft said Word should now launch more quickly and tables will no longer included random instances of bold text. Other changes improve the display of form fields and the reliability of headers & footers in the word processing application.
Meanwhile, Excel should now open spreadsheet files that contain invalid characters and see improvements to the overall performance of calculations. Number formatting for some international languages and stability when saving workbooks that contain PivotTable reports has also been improved.
One of the major focus areas for Entourage was to improve stability when using Microsoft Sync Services, Microsoft said. In particular, Tuesday's update fixes an issue that where all contacts in Entourage or in the Apple Address Book would be deleted and re-created when you use Microsoft Sync Services. It should also prevent duplication of events and other items in Entourage or in iCal.
Other changes to Entourage focused on improving junk mail filtering, recurring calendar events, time zone information, embedded images, and the reliability when Entourage establishes a encrypted channel.

I recently installed Office on my macbook. When using Excel, it quits unexpectedly and a window pops up asking me to relaunch. I relaunch and it takes me back to the last spreadsheet I had open but sometimes it doesn't save the last changes. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Office files and it still continues to happen. Any ideas?

Now, I was looking on the web for different prices and all that. I wasn't sure between buying Windows XP (because I work with XP at college, not Vista) and downloading Bootcamp, or Microsoft Office for Mac. Also, I wasn't sure if the Mac version was similar to the one for Windows... and also if I could transfer files from the PC to Mac versions without problems.
Basically, money wise, if I buy one or the other, there isn't too much of a difference. But I haven't looked everywhere for the best prices available, although I'm guessing it's pretty much the same most places (internet).

For most Mac programs, I would normally drag the application folder to the trash, and then do a library search for some entries related to the program. Will this work for Office 2008 to Office 2011? I ask because the M$ installers seem to more than simply add the app to your app folder and update the libraries - and don't get me started on the horrors of the Windoze registry errors.

Has anyone had any compatibily issues with Microsoft Office 11? I frequently make word and powerpoint documents on campus, sometimes on windows computers, sometimes Mac's. I either email the files to myself, or store them on a flash drive. However, when I try to open the files, I simply see a blank document. What's even more frustrating is that these files open in pages on my computer. I suspect I have something enabled on my preferences that is blocking this, but I have no idea what this is. Essentially, any file that I create on my computer works, and also works when opened on another computer. However, any file I create on a different computer(be it mac or windows) is not visible when opened on my computer. I simply see a blank document/blank powerpoint slides.

When I bought my mbp 13" the guy talked me into iWork. To my surprise after a couple days of cursing I found out I really do like iWork a lot. The only problem is my school prefers Microsoft Office programs. I understand you can change the file extensions in iWork and such. I am in the process of purchasing a (barely) new Macbook Pro. It has only seen a few weeks of use and the original owner paid for and had Microsoft Office installed at the time of purchase.
