MacBook Aluminum :: Apple Icon Turns To Circle With Diagonal Line / Slash

My Macbook won't start. When I turn on the power, the apple icon appears but then after a while it changes to a circle with a diagonal line/slash, then it just shows a gray screen.

The last time I used the computer I did several software updates. Could this be causing the problem?

PowerPC :: Boot Up With No Spinning Circle - Have Apple Change To A Circle With A Slash
i tried several things like zapping the PRAM, open firmware, and taking out RAM. also took out my pci wireless card and usb card. nothing helped, but eventually it booted up. i thought that the hard drive was probably dead but i couldnt boot off a tiger install disc when i tried.its been having problems starting up everyday since then. sometimes it will boot with the circle spinning and just stay there. other times it will boot with some junk on the screen and the restart message underneath, boot up with no spinning circle, or have the apple change to a circle with a slash through it

MacBook :: Circle With Slash At Startup - Cannot Boot In Safe Mode
I was troubleshooting an issue my brother was having with his Macbook over downloading files, installed Firefox for him, ran Apple updates and while the updates were installing the computer froze. He restarted it, and on startup he got a circle with a slash through it. I've been googling and checking forums and I tried booting into safe mode (Shift at startup, I believe?), and putting in the OS X disc that came with it and booting from that (C at startup?) but I get nothing. It just goes from the Apple with the loading circle, to the picture of the slash circle. I'm not really sure on the specs of the computer or the OS version, as I'm rarely on it.

MacBook :: Open Photo Booth, I Get The Camera Icon With A Slash Through It?
I'm trying to get a Macbook's iSight working. The Macbook is running Leopard, currently. When I go to open Photo Booth, I get the camera icon with a slash through it - indicating the camera isn't connected/available. The same problem happens with other applications. I don't believe it is listed in System Profiler, though if it was listed as something other than "iSight" I could have missed it.

I tried a few applications that are supposed to kick start it, reset the P Ram, reset the SMC, etc to no avail.

MacBook Pro :: Computer Freezes And Colored Circle Icon Appearing
I am experiencing some very strange behavior on my 15" macbook pro (mid 2009) -2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo, everything seems to be working well, but sometime, on a very erratic way, the computer freezes and the "colored circle" icon appears. At that moment, it is impossible to do anything on the computer, just wait until it comes back (more or less 30 seconds). The problem than appears again some time later and the only way to stop it is to restart the computer.

Please note that during the problem, activity monitor shows normal usage of HD and CPU. The computer never runs at maximum capacity. In order to solve the problem, I read a lot of documentation in these forums and the support documentation, but nothing helped. I did as follows:
clean re-install of mac os snow leopard --> OK
verified HD and permissions --> OK
AHT --> OK
SMC reinit --> OK.

IMac Intel :: White Circle With Line Through It During Startup?
I've had my iMac since late 2007. Since then, I've installed Leopard on it. It's always functioned perfectly until today. It was making a fanning noise, so I looked up a solution to that online and it said I should perform all software updates. So I did that, but it was taking forever, so I held down the power button until the computer shut down. Then I turned it on again, but during startup, the normal apple logo appeared with the spinning circle thing underneath it, like usual, but then suddenly the apple logo changed to a circle with a line through it. I tried all the stuff I could think of, like removing the keyboard and mouse and blah blah bloohey and all that stuff. I even put the power cord into a different outlet.

I really want my computer to work..

MacBook :: Won't Start Up - "No Entry Circle With Line Through It"
I was minding my own business, listening to iTunes and chatting on Adium, when the little spinning wheel came up and my desktop froze - no big deal I thought, and restarted it. But on load up, all I was getting was a little 'No Entry circle with line through it' style symbol on the grey screen. After browsing various forums I tried to reset the pram, then I tried holding down 'x' on start up, at which point a very loud noise happened and now all I'm getting is a flashing folder with a ? in it appear, for about 2 minutes after which my MacBook turns off!

I've tried putting in my OS X install disk and holding down 'c' and 'd' on start up, but nothing is working? When I restard with the Option key held down; i get a 'EFI Boot' logo and a little arrow, which when I click; nothing happens I'm not in warranty and I don't have Apple Care There's nothing important on my harddrive so I don't care about losing Files, I just want to be able to re-install OS X 10.4, or restart it or what ever.

MacBook :: Apple Update Froze With Multi Colored Circle
I was went onto updates and clicked install to a new Java update. Then apple update froze with a multi colored circle. I use force quit which worked, but some other apps wouldn't open after this and just sat there bouncing on the dock for ages. So next I selected restart from the apple menus and it was going through the shutdown process but didn't complete and just left my desktop sitting there. After 10 minutes, I help in the power button to manually shut it down, now it has restarted its all fine. What do you think could have happened, I have had it on for the past 3 days only sleeping it.

MacBook Aluminum :: Turns On By Itself
I have just recently noticed that when I put my computer to sleep the Apple logo flashes every few seconds and that it gets out of sleep mode by itself. When I went to turn it off it quickly turned on again. It happens whether it is connected or not. I have tried a few things and this [URL] but nothing has worked. I bought this computer last December, so it's still under warranty. I am a college student and I can't afford another computer so I am a bit scared that this is going to damage it. MacBook Pro :: Does Not Start Past Gray Screen / Apple Logo And Rolling Circle?
My Macbook Pro is not starting past the grey screen and the apple logo and the rolling circle. I have tried every method and I am desperate to do anything to start my computer even erase the entire disc. I have contacted the Apple store and they told me the cost will be equivalent to $600 to just repair it and no way I will be able to afford it.I am willing to do anything and even erase my entire disc. However, for that the instructions on the Apple page state that 'Insert your Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5 installation disc'. However, I do not have my installation disc Is there any other way I can erase the OS system and at least reboot my Macbook?
