MacBook Air :: Screen Goes Dim And Then Completely Dark?

I'm having an issue with a A1237 Macbook Air. When I turn it on the screen is nice and bright but almost immediately it starts dimming sort of herky jerky and then it will just go dark like someone turned off the back light, looking at the screen very closely you can see there's still an image. Sometimes it takes a couple minutes before it goes completely dark and sometimes it takes 30seconds. If I close the lid for a couple seconds and then open it the screen comes back to normal brightness and the process repeats. If this were a PC laptop I would be 99% sure that its the inverter board but not that certain with the Mac.

MacBook Pro :: Screen Goes Completely Dark On Pressing C
It's only an 8 month old mid 2009 uMBP (2.26ghz, 4GB, 500GB). I was using the Disk Utility when it asked me to insert my MAC OS X Install disc and press "c" during start up and repair it. Every time I insert the disc and press "c" my screen goes completely dark. I thought it could have been a problem with the sensor so I flashed a light into it but it didn't work. I even tried putting it directly towards the sun light and still it doesn't work.

MacBook :: Screen Getting Dim With Time / Suddenly Gets Dim
My screen works fine for the most part, but sometimes it goes really dim. When I move the lid, it goes back to normal. What is causing it to all of a sudden go dim? I have Apple Care for my Mac, but I've installed a new hard drive and new RAM; does that void my warranty?

MacBook Air :: Screen Dimmer At Lower Right Side / Series Of Dim Pixels?
Towards the lower right hand side of my monitor there is a series of pixels that are dimmer than all the rest. It forms basically a backwards J. It is most obvious when there is a white background (like on this site). Is this something that would be covered with Apple Care?

MacBook Air :: Dark Patch On The Bottom Of LCD Screen / Backlight?
It seems my MBA has developed some issues with the LCD, there is a noticeable dark patch on the bottom of the screen and it is really bugging me, normally little things like these I can get over with but seeing how much I paid for this laptop it is very disconcerting. Oh and also, when the screen is off and viewed under a sun/bright light, you can see waves / "ripples" of the LCD, is that supposed to be normal? Just wondering if Applecare will "care" about this issue.

MacBook :: Screen Light Seems To Dim On Its Own?
does anyone notice that sometimes the screen light will dim over time? (new alum unibody macbook)

is it because sometimes i use a lamp really close to the laptop vs other times using a far away light source? does the brightness change automatically?

i sometimes increase the light to full..and then maybe 2 days later...i find it is 2 notches lower..without me doing anything...

MacBook :: Display Brightness - Screen Go Dim After Sometimes
Recently, after about 5 minutes of use (not sitting idle), my MacBook's screen will go very dim. I hit the buttons on the keyboard to take the brightness all the way up, but it doesn't get much brighter and there's only one thing that I can do to make the screen go brighter: I go into System Preferences and click Display. The second I click that, the brightness returns without me doing anything in the Display section, so after Display comes up, I just close it out and the screen brightness is fine for a while. It seems to do this after the lid has been closed for a while and then starts dimming again after opening the lid and using it for about 5 minutes. Is there a way to fix the auto-dim mode without disabling it? MacBook (white) is running Leopard 10.5.8 with all the latest updates.

MacBook :: Screen Not Working Fine / Blue Screen Appears And Then Everything Gets Dark
I have a problem with my MacBook screen. Everytime I try to turn on the MacBook, the blue screen appears for a second and then everything gets dark (but I can see that the computer turned on normally, it's just the screen that gets almost black, without light). Sometimes only the right side of the screen is blue and then gets dark just like the left one. I was looking for the problem and I perceived that the left side seems to be loose and I can't fix it. What should I do?

MacBook :: Yellow Tint On Screen / Colors Of Screen Are Dark?
I have a late 2006 Macbook, and my dad has an early 2009 Macbook. I was comparing the two today and noticed that there was a significant difference between their LCDs. My dad's Macbook has a lighter, more normal display. While mine has a yellow tint to it and is darker. Both computers were on the same display profiles and both had the same brightness set.

Is this just how LCDs are as they age? Or is mine really not supposed to have that yellow tint? The new Macbook is on the right in the pic.

MacBook Pro :: Dim Screen With Overheating When Lid Closed?

I have matched my 13" macbook pro to a 23 inch widescreen monitor and wanted to inquire as the best way to keep the macbook pro ON, but also save on space. I have heard of 'Insomnia' which disables the sleep function on the mac and wanted to check if, by dimming my screen down to off (the minimum brightness the screen will go) and turning on 'insomnia' will that be enough to prevent the screen/unit from overheating?

MacBook Air :: Display With Dark & Light Patches?
Along the bottom 1 inch portion of my MBA display there are very faint variable patches of brightness. Display brightness is set at 50%. When I increase the brightness to 100%, it disappears and when I reduce the brightness it becomes less noticable. It is much more noticable when the background is a solid color.

Anyone else see this on their MBA?

MacBook Air :: Slight Flickering Only On Dark Grey On External Display?
I have a 28" inch display attached to newest version of Air. Works ok except when I have a full screen on plain dark grey background, then I see a waviness or flickering effect. Like the dark grey in Iphoto background. Other than this, the other colors seems ok. Pictures are fine, even when dark. Maybe there's a slight flickering with dark blue. Any explanations for this.
using mini display port to dvi. Tried with a friends dual link display, was a little different, but still unstable looking in dark grey when it fills the screen.

Could it be just what it takes to make this color, or the Hertz, which is 60. Other than this, no problem with the screen.

MacBook Air :: New 11.6" MBA/bottom Of Display A Dark Strip?
Just picked up a 11.6" MBA this past Saturday. I am noticing an interesting display "issue"... I wanted to confirm that other's are not seeing this before I take it back to the store.

On the bottom of the display, there's a strip, maybe 2-3mm worth, where it is darker than the rest of the display. Are any of you seeing this behavior as well? It's particularly noticeable when when using solid background colors.

MacBook Air :: Lack Of Backlit Keyboard - Keys Dark Gray
I love my 11.6" Air but the lack of a backlit keyboard is killing me. And why on earth are the freaking letters on the keys dark grey? If Apple released a new Air next month with an i3 or i5 ULV or Sandy Bridge ULV and a backlit keyboard I would feel compelled upgrade even at ridiculous cost to myself. Is there a real reason why there are no backlit keys on the Air? Is Apple just forcing me to upgrade to the next model when released?

Just not sure how it went down. They are in a clean room. Looking at the Air. Seems like someone would have said, "thing would really benefit with a backlit kayboard" and that somebody else would have said "yeah, we are Apple, leaders in design" and then Jobs would chime in, "Damn straight. Make it so." Where did it breakdown?

MacBook Pro :: Screen Goes Dark After Opening
Late Model 2010 Macbook pro, opening screen from closed position allows the screen to turn on as normal, but two seconds later, goes to complete black. Temporary fix includes hitting F1 to lower brightenss (if the screen was at full brightness) or F1 or F2 (if screen was not at full brightness) changing this brightness level brings back screen to full brightness -1. this problem seems to be pretty prevelent and related to the nvidia card ro something simialr. are there any known fixes? will apple acknowlege this. this just started happening to me a week or so ago but i've seen articles are far back as early 2011 with the same symptoms.

MacBook Pro :: Screen Go Dark - Computer Still Running
I have a new MBP 15, 2.66. When the computer hits the sleep time set in energy saver (display sleep and sleep are set to the same for this experiment) the screen will go dark, but the computer will not go to sleep, it sounds as though the HD is running. This happens some of the time. There are times when I try to wake the computer and the computer will wake, flash the display then the screen will go dark, even though the computer is awake. The only way to get the display back on is to shut down and restart. I'm not sure if there is a process that is causing this. I am sometimes operating in closed clamshell and I thought it was a display problem, but it seems to go beyond that. I even had the computer exchanged at the Apple store. I am hoping someone else out there has run into this and resolved it.

Hardware :: Dark Screen New Macbook Pro 17"
The new Macbook pro 17" seems to have a very dark display. I was in two Apple stores in, one in NYC and the other in Whiteplains and both stores had the new machines displayed. The screens were substantially darker than the 15.4" LED version. The preferences did not seem to help because the machines did not provide a selection between power save and high performance. Does anybody know anything about this, or should I just assume mine will be delivered with a dark screen? The screens were glossy in both stores, NOT anti-glare.
