MacBook Air :: Black Plastic Part Under The Screen Is Loose?

The black plastic part under the screen is a little loose. If you press with one finger you push it in and it will move a bit.

MacBook Pro :: Lower Part Of Screen Molten Plastic, Causing Weird Screen Malfunction
I have had my MBP for a little over a year now, and it has always felt quite hot when touching, even in idle it reached ~60 degC and when hard at work doing MATLAB calculations I had to manually boost the fan to prevent it from exceeding 90 degC. Anyway this heat probably caused severe deformation of the lower part of the screen. I have uploaded some pictures of this:But, besides the flickering screen problem that many MBP owners experience, I have never had problems with my screen. Until now: the screen is completely black, only occasionally showing some squirts of white. It looks sort of like an old tv shutting down (all black but a fading white stripe in the middle) The pattern does respond to the brightness keys (in the way that you'd expect).

MacBook Air :: Black Plastic Strip Over Hinge On It?
The plastic piece which is visible when the notebook is completely closed is the part that is loose. I can slide it side to side, and it makes noise occasionally. The screen doesn't seem to have any play in it, but im not sure if it is just an outer cover over the hinge or the actual hinger. My wife's macbook air has the same problem.

MacBook Pro :: Black Plastic Of Screen Hinge Cracks When Touched
I was cleaning my 17" MacBook Pro today (purchased in March, 2011), and when I was cleaning near the screen, I noticed that the black plastic of the hinge made cracking noises as I ran my cleaning cloth across it (and every time I do it now with my finger). I have never had this happen before. Is this a known, harmless defect or is it something I should get looked at by someone at an Apple Store (still under AppleCare).

MacBook Pro :: Stop Hinge Plastic From Creaking / Black Plastic Hinge Cover Is Cheap And Creaks
Build-quality wise the unibodies are really as perfect as I've ever experienced any machine to be. Simply amazing. BUT, the black plastic hinge cover is cheap and creaks as soon as I grab the computer or open the display. I opened her up to see if there was anything I could do to reinforce it or something, but I didn't want to mess with it.

Quite a few seem to have this 'issue' and I thought maybe somebody has figured out a solution?Such a shame on an otherwise perfect machine. I would have preferred the same kind of rubbery plastic that was on the old generation MBP

MacBook Air :: Is The Screen Itself Plastic Or Glass And Does It Scratch Easily
I was thinking about possibly selling my MacBook Pro and purchasing the 11.6-inch Air because I'm a college student who doesn't need much more than word processing, web browsing, iTunes, and portability. But I hear that the Airs don't have the glass covering of the Pro... Is the screen itself plastic or glass and does it scratch easily?

MacBook Air :: More Light On Left Part Of The Screen Than Bottom Right Of Screen
Is it just me or the macbook air has a problem with backlight? it's very very bright compare to my mbp 13.3 but it seems like the left part of the screen receive a lot more light than the bottom right of the screen. I notice that on the mbp pro but its worse on the mba. I have a rev2 1.86 with a 9400. In this review (in spanish) they check the brightness levels on the screen, and there is a difference between center and bottom right corner (340cd/m2 vs 215cd/m2)

Hardware :: G5 - While Browsing An Excel Spreadsheet Part Of The Screen Turned Black Then Monitor Shut Off
My father owns one of the original G5s, so its power pc not intel. Today while browsing an excel spreadsheet he says part of the screen turned black, then the monitor shut off, then the monitor came back on but not video. Mean while the fans started spinning out of control. Now when he tries to turn it on, he gets power, but all that happens is the fans spinning faster and faster and faster until he turns it off. No video or anything. Just speeding fans. He fears the CPUs died since they control the fans. Any suggestions? He also says the fans were spinning unusually fast these last few days.

We just get a new mac air. We were trying netflix video, and the browser did not response. Now It get a black screen and can't start.

I tried to press power button, etc, but nothing works.

We are rather new to Mac world. What are the things I could try?

BTW, the Mac air comes with a power supply only. There is no DVD drive or thing like that. How do I re-install OS if I need to?

MacBook Air :: MacBook Air A Viable Replacement For 2008 White Plastic MacBook?
I have a 2008 13" white, plastic MacBook. Its a bit slow, but adequate. Thinking of selling it and paying the difference to get the 11" MacBook Air. I've heard it is similar in speed and has the same processor.
The main problem I have with my current MacBook is that its heavy - I need something lightweight to easily carry to school and class for note-taking and such.

How is the Air better or worse, and would I be losing anything significantly by replacing the 08 plastic MB with a MBA?

I bought a new MacBook Air 13" on December 20, 2011.† I do like it a lot, but I have one big problem (its big to me!) and question -- about 3 times per week since purchasing the MacBook Air while working / typing on the MacBook Air, the screen just goes black fir NO apparent reason!! It is like the battery is suddenly totally OUT of any power!† But, the battery has plenty of charge, and no command or other key stroke nor any other activity that should cause this black screen has been done.

MacBook Air :: Black Spots Around The Screen Bezel?
This is a minor complaint admittedly, but on a certain spot at the top of the bezel around my screen (just below and left of the camera) I have a black 'spot'. Every couple of days I wipe it away and it returns somehow! The only thing I can think is that maybe something is leaking from the trackpad (ie. from the inside of the machine but via the gap around the trackpad).

The machine is otherwise perfect, so I don't imagine there's anything seriously wrong inside...

I checked a few demonstration units and they didn't seem to have the same amount of play. Is this normal?

MacBook Air :: Kernel Panic - Black Screen On Wake Up
This is my THIRD 2010 MBA. The first one had a few kernel panics and about 50% of the time, black screen on wake up. Took it to the genius bar w/in a week of getting it and they replaced it. Second one started okay and then had the same issues, progressively worse. They replaced it again, deemed it a freak second lemon. Upgraded the hard drive (I think? Not the 2gb/4gb, but the other one). It was fine for about two weeks. Then I installed the software update that was supposed to fix the wake-up problem, or so it seemed. Now, I'm back to 50% black screen on wake up and have had at least 10-15 kernel panics in the last week. When I open the computer if it's been asleep, I have about a 50% chance of black screen and I have to press/hold the power key and restart. You can just barely see the black screen fade (like, you can see a horizontal line moving down it, like a blacker shade)? I'm banging my head against the wall. I don't want to take it back AGAIN and replace it AGAIN to have the same problem come up. I've purposely barely installed anything on this computer. Even Office is still in the plastic wrap. Here's the latest report (the # of panics seems to reset every once in a while? It was at 7, and now it's at 1 again):

MacBook Air :: Skins To Make Screen Bezel Black?
I know there are lots of sites that sell those plastic skins people use to decorate their laptops, but has anyone see a black one to go around the new macbook air screen? I think this thing would look really sharp with a black bezel, and I don't want to risk painting it or anything myself. I've done a quick google search and not found anything, but I'm also not really familiar with the popular sites and companies people go to for this kind of thing. I know Techrestore has announced a service to replace your air's screen with a matte one and replace the bezel with a black one while they're at it...but right now I'm just looking for an inexpensive, reversible (in case I don't like it) option.

MacBook :: Cracking - Plastic Border Above The Screen
i have, in the past, had my macbook's palm rest crack. I brought it into apple, and was happy to have it replaced, free of charge. Recently, the plastic cracked again, this time in a new place. The plastic border above the screen; more particularly the area directly above the indents that come out to help separate the screen from the keyboard. I'm not sure if this is covered by Apple's policy with cracked palmrests. Any advice or help is appreciated of course. If you think Apple won't help me, would it be risky to use an adhesive to hold the plastic down, as it's near the screen?

MacBook Air :: Upgrading To EFI 2.0 On 11.6" - Showing Black Screen
My MacBook Air 11.6" laptop was working perfectly up until I applied the EFI 2.0 update. Now about 20% of the time I wake the laptop up, the backlighting for the screen is off. It looks like a black screen, but if I hold it an angle, I can see that it's actually still on.

I'm able to do a clean shutdown and reboot from this "black screen", by hitting the power button, followed by the Enter key. Also, my laptop used to wake up simply by opening the lid, and now it does not. I have to hit a key to wake it up.

MacBook Air :: Plugging Into Wrong Port - Computer Screen Goes Black
I was BBMing while trying to plug in my headphones with my pheripherals, and I accidentally pushed it (not very hard) into the USB port. The tip of the headphone jack connected with the little connector ball at the bottom of the USB port. The screen went black and I instantly hit the power button on instinct, so I don't know if it shut off. Did I do something very bad, or is that normal? I'm not sure if that's even considered an electric shock or what.

MacBook Air :: Why Does It Loose Connection When Going To Sleep
Each and everytime I put my Macbook Air 11 to sleep, it loses internet connection and I have to go into the Wi-Fi panel to rejoin my home network.  It's quite annoying because I like to close my MacBook and hide it in the television cabinet when it's not in use. The first time I encountered this problem was when I left the MBA for an hour to download some big files, only to open it back up and find the download had not moved at all since I closed it.

MacBook Air :: Black Marks Due To Mouse Button Rubbing On Screen
I have a new macbook Air, I bought it last week and it's been out of the house on one trip so far, all protected nicely in a case but it's already got nasty black marks from the mouse button on the trackpad rubbing the top part of the screen surround away, like this: [URL]. My question is this: All macbook airs I've seen in the flesh seem to do this, do airs exist that are free from this cosmetic failure? If so then I'll go and hassle the local mac store into replacing it, and if not I'll have to deal with it best I can with some internal padding, it just seems strange that such a design flaw would go overlooked even after 2 revisions.

MacBook Air :: Won't Stay Asleep - Black Screen And Freeze
Been having a few huge issues with my new MBA 13".

#1 - Putting the laptop to sleep. I put the laptop to sleep and put it in the bag and at some point it wakes back up. If I don't remove it during the day by that afternoon/evening when I go to remove it the battery is at 0% and it's fully discharged. One day I took it out a couple hours in and the fan was blowing like mad like it had been running for a while, when I opened the lid I had a black screen and it was frozen. Disabled waked for network access but it was no help.

#2 - When the laptop goes in standby and I open it back up I get a beach ball forever - I've tried to let it go for upwards of 30 minutes and it never unfreezes, but I can move the mouse around. I ended up telling the laptop not to standby when it was plugged in to a power source otherwise I ended up always losing work.
