Mac Mini :: DVI To HDMI Adaptor Does Not Work

I've currently got my Mini connected to a projector via Mini Display Port to VGA adaptor, then a long VGA cable. It works, but I can't get full image size. Meanwhile, I've got a DVD player connected via HDMI to the same projector. That works great and gives a full image size. You can read more about my problem here: [URL]. So I decided to get a MiniDVI to HDMI adaptor, and connect that to the HDMI cable instead of to the DVD player. That shows me nothing. Blue screen.

Mac Mini :: Using DVI To VGA Adaptor With HDMI To DVI Port ?
I couldnt find anything on this, so I decided to post a new topic. We just recently purchased a Mac Mini server at work for iOS development. Before we launch in in one of our data centers and start remoting into the system, we need to conduct basic setup on the system.

For this, we pulled out an old stock VGA montior we have around the office, and found an apple DVI to VGA adaptor [URL]

The problem is, the pins dont exactly line up... on the DVI to VGA adaptor there are 2 extra pins above and below the horzontial pin on the left hand side [URL] that do no exist on the Mac Mini HDMI to DVI adaptor [URL]

Ive checked other converters and it seems that all of them are setup the same way, with two pins above and below.

Has anyone else had to deal with this issue? I really dont want to go and buy the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor for one-time use.

MacBook Pro :: When Connecting To An External Monitor, Will There Be A Quality Difference Between Using A DVI Adaptor Or A HDMI Adaptor
I am looking to connect my macbook pro to an Acer G24 monitor, but am not sure what best way to do it.The resolution of the monitor is 1920x1200, and it is a 24" screen, with VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports. My macbook pro is the late 2011 entry model.

Will there be a difference in the quality of the picture on my external monitor, depending on whether I connect using a HDMI cable or a DVI cable? I will have to buy an adapter for each of these, to plug into the mini DVI port on my mac, will this alter the quality of the picture at all? If I were to buy an Apple Tv, would I be able to plug it straight into my monitor using a HDMI cable? If so, how would I manage the audio, as my monitor does not have speakers. Would using a thunderbolt cable (with HDMI adaptor) increase the quality of the picture of my monitor?

Mac Mini :: Westinghouse 24" LCD Monitor HDMI Input - Connected To Mini Via DVI & HDMI Cable?
The old Mini worked fine with my Westinghouse 24" LCD monitor (HDMI input - connected to Mini via DVI->HDMI cable). The new Mini Server 2010 has HDMI out, so I used a straight-through HDMI cable. The display looks terrible! All of the fonts appear to have a 'shadow' next to them - almost like an old analog VGA with 'interference'.Thinking it could be the cable, I went back to my old Mini's DVI->HDMI cable (and used the new Mini's HDMI->DVI adapter to connect to it). Same results. The Westinghouse monitor's native resolution is 1920x1200. The Mac says that it's configured for 1920x1200.

Hardware :: Mini Display Port To DVI Adaptor Doesn't Connect To DVI Cable?
I bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor with the intent of connecting my TV (with DVI-in) to my MacBook in order to use front row (and plex) for films.

However when I got home, I found that the DVI female of the adaptor does not match up (or successfully connect) to the DVI male of the cable. Have I done something foolish, but it seems that there are pins on the male that do not have a corresponding socket?

I have attached an image to try and help out...

Should I just give up and seek out a VGA instead?

Mac Mini :: Why Using HDMI-DVI Adapter Instead Of MDP-DVI
I'm surprised that the Mac Mini comes with an HDMI-DVI adapter and not a MiniDisplayPort-DVI adapter. The latter would allow you to use monitors that support all resolutions the Mini can produce, whereas the former is limited to 1920-by-1200. Even if you use a monitor within the bounds of 1920-by-1200 resolution, you would need to get a MDP-DVI adapter to use a TV at the same time.

The ONLY logical reason that exists for Apple to do this is that they will make more money this way.

More people will have to buy the MDP-DVI adapter than the other way around. If people merely want to use a TV, they will have to buy an HDMI cable AND a MDP-DVI adapter, leaving the current adapter sitting in a drawer, whereas if Apple had supplied a MDP-DVI adapter, the person would probably just buy an HDMI cable, and probably not from Apple.

OS X :: DVI Same As HDMI - Looking To Buy Mini - DVI To DVI Or HDMI?
I have a VGA connection to my monitor from my Macbook currently cause I had a mini-dvi to vga adapter conveniently. But I heard DVI will be better, so I was looking to get another adapter. Should get a Mini-DVI to DVI or Mini-DVI to HDMI? Would that produce the same picture cause they are both digital? I don't plan on connecting to any other diplays or tv's but would one be more versatile than the other? Oh, and I saw that Apple doesn't make a HDMI adapter, is there a reason why not? I saw it on eBay so it made me curious. I've searched this topic, but I didn't see a thread that answered my questions.

Mac Mini :: Monitor Won't Work Via Mini-dvi To Dvi Adapter?
It's a brand spanking new mac mini. I attached a 5 year old lcd monitor (always used before as VGA) using the mini-dvi to dvi adapter. I am using the monitor's dvi connector. The monitor resolution is 1280x1024.

The monitor does not work when using the mini-dvi to dvi adapter. If I remove the mini-dvi adapter and use a mini displayport to dvi adapter, it works just fine. I can keep both adapters plugged in and plug the cable into one or the other. It always works instantly when attached to the minidisplay port and doesn't work if I switch to the mini-dvi port.

I've tried the display with mini-dvi adapter on my macbook too. On the laptop, it acts like there are two screens attached, but there is no action on the external display.

As a further test, I attached the mac mini to the TV via a mini-dvi to hdmi adapter. The mini-dvi port on the mini works fine, as does the port on the laptop. The monitor works fine via minidisplay, but not mini-dvi.

Naturally, I concluded that the mini-dvi adapter was faulty. A second adapter came today, and nothing has changed. Could I have received two Apple mini-dvi adapters in a row with problems? Is there something about the monitor that doesn't like the mini-dvi port? It seems like it wouldn't like the minidisplay port either, but that one is fine.

IMac Intel :: Mini DVI To VGA Or Mini DVI To HDMI - Which Is Better
so i received 2 new TV's, and both have a VGA input (with a computer audio input(3.5mm)), and both have an HDMI. I'm working with an iMac which was purchased from apple in late 2007.

so, my question is: which would be better? would one have a better video over another? what about re-useability with other displays? which TV's seem to have more of which kind of input?

Also, i plan on getting a macbook pro sometime in the summer of 2011, does anybody know what my options would be, if i could still get an adapter for both HDMI and VGA?

OS X :: MBP To Hdvt - Mini Displayport To Dvi -> Belkin Dvi To Hdmi
I have trying to get my laptop hooked up to my tv, using the apple mini displayport to DVI -> belkin DVI to HDMI cable setup (as recommended by the dude int eh apple store - which i knew and planned on doing anyway :P).

anyway, when i first plugged it in to the tv in my hotel room it worked, 1080p, then stopped .. then randomly worked again after a few ties. Once I got home i hooked it up to my sharp aquos 42 and worked fine, then after it was unplugged and tried to get it working again, it basically just.. wouldn't - i don't get a picture/signal on the tv, no options in the display cp , nor does the screen go blue when it normally finds a monitor/tv. i've tried plugging it in both ends, restarting, turning tv off/on, everything to no avail. I know the dvi-hdmi cable works, used it from a windows desktop to make sure. the mini displayport to DVI works for DVI 100% of the time into one of my monitors.

as mentioned it had worked at first on and off..., and now i cant get it working on my 1080p tv, nor the 720p one that's in my room, neither of them get a picture/signal; no options in display control panel either, or the quick display flash to blue. Furthermore, sometimes when unplugging the dvi cable from the tv i get the laptop screen flash, as when it picks the device up initially.

I never got my emailed invoice from apple when I bought the cables in in SF during macworld so I cant just return it to apple I'm sure.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated, please help this is making me go crazy... worked and now nothing no matter what i try. Oh, also tried on another, new user to see if it was a weird setting that got saved.

OS X :: Mini DVI Connect To VGA Adaptor
i want to connect my macbook to a VGA screen, I have the macbook, I have the screen, I even have the adaptor (it's the one which came with the Macbook). The thing I really don't understand is why this adaptor cable is only about 3 inches long. I can't even find one which is longer. Surely I am not the only person who has encountered a problem with this - the VGA socket on the monitor I have is more than 3 inches up from the base so I literally cannot use this cable without half-lying the monitor down. Clearly this is ridiculous and not how it was intended to be, but how do people make this work?! As I say, Irealise this probably sounds stupid, but I am completely baffled by the total absurdity of it as well.

OS X :: Get Mini Display Port To DVI Then DVI To HDMI?
i just bought a mini display port to hdmi adapter, an HDMI to HDMI cable, and an audio cable for my 2008 unibody macbook (Snow Leopard). I've been trying to use my 26" 720p Sanyo [URL] as a monitor to display my computer so I can watch things that I have on my computer. When I plug it into HDMI one like I'm suppose to, it doesn't work- but you see static and it flickers sometimes. Was I only suppose to get mini display port to DVI then DVI to HDMI?

Notes: If i plug it into the second HDMI adaptor( doesn't say DVI) and set it to 720p then i get a fuzzy picture that is displayed correctly (You can see the entire status bar)

Picture quality was fantastic.

MacBook Pro :: Mini Display Port To HDMI Adaptor To HDTV
I recently purchased a mini display port to HDMI adapter. Hooked it up to the port and got excited when it showed the sign in image. (The space scene for the MacBook Pro) But as I signed in, I realized that was all it was showing. No desktop, no video, just that space scene at the start of sign in. (Not even the sign in window). The HDMI cable itself works fine. I use it with my xbox 360. The adapter is sending that one scene through the HDMI cable I guess. Is there something I can adjust on the MacBook Pro itself to send the video correctly?

Mac Mini :: Sony Television (DVI To HDMI) No Audio
I recently obtained a Mac mini to use with my Sony LCD projection television (model number KDF-E55A20). To connect the two, I used a standard DVI to HDMI conversion cable. The picture looks great. I have connected the standard audio output of the mini to the audio portion of the HDMI port (#6) on the television using a cable that changes from the audio-out to RCA (red and white) cables. (I'm sorry I don't know what the name of this sort of cable is, but I know it is very standard).

The problem: I get no sound! To troubleshoot I connected my Powerbook G4 to the same HDMI port (using the provided adapter to connect to the same DVI to HDMI cable). Once I plug in the same audio cable as I tried to use with my mini, I get both picture and sound. It seems that the television inactivates the audio input component of the HDMI port if it picks up what it thinks is an HDMI input (since it is supposed to carry audio). But it is only getting DVI! So the problem is not with the mini as it produces audio normally. There's a setting (hopefully not hard-wired) with the Sony to inactivate the audio-in on HDMI input.

Hardware :: DVI To HDMI Cable From Mac Mini To Samsung HDTV?
I also took the time to search on this topic and couldnt find anything related

heres the sitch!

Computer = Mac Mini 1.42 model

TV = Samsung TXR3079WH HDTV

DVI to HDMI cable connected to a Samsung HDTV TXR3079WH

the tv doesnt come with dvi connectors so i opted out and purchased the dvi-hdmi cable. i hook it up to the samsung tv and then boot it up and nothing appears on the screen. it just freezes the television to the point that i cant even change to a different source input.

I tested it with different resolutions (i had an LCD next to me to interchange with) and neither resolutions worked. I then thought it might be the DVI-HDMI cable so i hooked it up to my Comcast HD Box and it worked perfectly fine. I then took the Mac Mini to a neighbors house and hooked it up to his 47" Panasonic HDTV and the Mac Mini fired right up and worked beautifully on the Panasonic HDTV using the same cable. Went into System Preferences and under diplays it actually said "Panasonic HDTV" so it recognized the tv. and the resolution automatically reset itself to 1900x1200. Then afer seeing that the Mac Mini was capable of this and all the settings must have been right, i walked back over to my house and the initial problem started again. No Picture on the Samsung HDTV. After all this i found out that the DVI port on the Mac Mini works, The DVI-HDMI cable and the HDMI port on the back of my Samsung TV works as well. So i think it might just be a samsung driver issue? dont know how to resolve this issue.

IMac Intel :: Mini Display Port - HDMI Adaptor / Works On Bootcamp - No Signal On OS X
I have a 21.5" iMac (mid '10) with ATI Radeon HD 4670 Graphics Card. I recently bought a mini Display port to HDMI converter to connect my existing Fujitsu Siemens L22-W3 (1680x1050 native) display. My display has a DVI input, therefore I use an additional HDMI to DVI converter (I was using this setup for my ex laptop having HDMI output). I think I am not the only person who has this HDMI "no signal" syndrome. But yes, this is also my problem. MAC seems to recognize and parse EDID information from my display correctly. Listed resolutions and their timing settings etc. seems fine when I cross check the data with SwitchResX (comparing with another windows laptop having my display plugged)

The funniest part (and the one which makes me so crazy about this problem) is that when I boot Windows 7 64bit on my iMac, Windows recognizes my display and it works without any problem! So there is no problem with my physical cable setup. I have seen that, on MAC OS X some people could have even some green screen or small flickering on external display shortly, but I had nothing at all so far! It was always "no signal" for me even though it works fine -without any display corruption- on the win system running via bootcamp. There is an interesting behaviour on my screen when the output is active on MAC. Even though it is pure black, if i push the on/off button, it does not respond at first try. It somehow makes me think that the incoming HDMI signal makes the display busy, perhaps cause it is incompatible or so? I would ask if anyone has any idea, but I guess not? I just wonder if someone else has also same situation like mine ? Everything running fine via bootcamp, but no signal in native Mac Os X ?

I've tried mirroring, I've tried switching hdmi cables, and even bought another adapter. I had the picture up yesterday just clicking on settings but it was when the screen wasn't mirrored, and it was treating it as another display. Now I can't even get that to work. I've tried every resolution. I plug it in, and detect the monitor, and it brings up two windows. One is "color lcd" and the other is "TSB-H66S".
