Mac Safari :: Pinwheel And No Way To Cancel Or Change Tabs
Recently it seems that Safari (latest version 5.0.3) is much less responsive. Particularly when a web page is slow to load or running a script or something, you see the pinwheel, but in this case you can't cancel the request with the X in the address bar, nor can you switch to another safari tab that was already open.

Safari :: Extensions Icons Not Displaying In Color On Toolbar?
My Safari windows look grey and bleak, just like the weather.I've double checked my security preferences and allowed third party plug-in access etc, is it that extensions just don't install as coloured icons in Safari? My friend's web browser allows colour and it makes icons easier to find in the Toolbar.

When clicking a link to go to a new tab, then closing the tab, that link no longer changes color to show that it was was clicked, you have to refresh to force the color to change. (This was a problem in an early update of Safari 4, but fixed a short time later. It's now back in Safari 5.)

Software :: Safari Tabs/ Moving Tabs Back Below The Address Bar?
I have really tried to like the new Safari, but I can't seem to generate 'affection' for the tabs. One thing especially is irritating to me. Being over the address bar is bad enough, but when there's a bunch of tabs, finding a spot to 'grab' the window to move it is difficult.

Is there a way to move the tabs back below the address window like the older Safari? I hope this hasn't been asked and answered before. I didn't see it.

Change Visited Link Color In Safari 5.1.3
Visited link colors in Safari, most notably visited Google links when I return to the search page, don't change colors as they used to do. Actually, I think it's been that way for a long time (years) now but I am just now coming back around to being interested in why and if there is a way to get back to the days where new links were BLUE and visited links were GREEN (or whatever color you wanted). Is this still possible with the new Safari and if so, how do you go about setting this visted link color preference?

Mac Safari :: Slow Opening Of Safari Tabs Despite High Speed Broadband?
Opening of tabs is very slow despite high speed broadband (actual downloading speed >50 Mbit/s). First page opens relatively quick but the other ones take minutes. It even happens that they don't open at all with the message "can't find the page". If I try to open such a page directly it opens at once (no problem). I have the same problem with Firefox. I have tryed the following:

reset Safari
reinstall Safari
reinstall Snow Leopard

I have an iMac 2,66 Ghz intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB internal memory, Safari 4.0.4 and Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

Any suggestions?

Mac Safari :: Saved Tabs Menu Bookmark Brings Safari Window To Unusable State?
Saved tabs menu bookmark does not ask for user confirmation when navigating away from many tabs, and when the user returns to the previous set of tabs (note that this possibility isn't clear to the user), the entire Safari window reaches an unusable state.

I have a saved tabs folder as a bookmark item that is also present on the bookmarks menu bar. That means if I accidentally click on the saved tabs link instead of the address bar then my Safari session with all of the current active tabs disappears! I'd like to suggest that Safari presents a confirmation page when the user is about to change the state of more than one tab, just like it would ask for confirmation if the user were to exit Safari or close a window with many open tabs. By clicking on that single button nearby to the address bar, the entire window state is altered, not just the current tab. That's not my initial expected behaviour. On the other hand, it was also not clear to me initially that I could navigate back to the previous set of tabs when that state is comprehensively changed. So maybe the user can be informed about the ability to undo that action. For now, I will certainly be moving that set of tabs away from the menu bar, tucked further within the Bookmarks menu. But the problem that I have now is more than just a temporary unavailability of the old state.

When I accidentally navigated forward to that set of tabs, and subsequently quickly hit the back arrow button to revert to the previous state, Safari itself reached a point where the content of all tabs became unavailable. This sounds like it could be a kind of race condition where Safari needs to throw away cached information for the old set of tabs before it builds new cached information upon loading all new tabs. By aborting the process of loading those new tabs, maybe Safari assumes that the set of tabs is up to date, but the transition back to the old set of tabs doesn't appropriately trigger a reload and revert of the state. In any case the symptom is clear. When I switch between tabs in the problematic window, I continue to get completely blank screens even though I had many distinct tabs open in that window initially. It seems that to reproduce this problem what needs to be done is to have this set of saved tabs in a bookmark that is stored just below the address bar, and then to quickly navigate backward to return to the previous state. The more tabs in the current and stored session, the more this process may bog down Safari and expose this type of race condition. I also believe I may have also double or triple clicked that saved tabs button, which may invalidate the original set of tabs since the state for several sets of tabs might not be stored transparently by default. In any case I would like to recommend that Safari warn the user when this step takes place. The user could even be warned because they place a set of tabs bookmark below the menu bar, since they might accidentally click there. When this problem occurred, the other Safari window I had open had multiple tabs but this part of the Safari session was considered still working and the symptoms were not there. Yet the problematic window continues to experience the problem where all tabs are currently blank. I believe that I'll have to restart Safari to trigger the reloading of the pages, but I don't even know if that will be sufficient.

Mac Safari :: Links That Open New Windows In Safari Instead Of New Tabs?
Why is it that when clicking on a link in a website sometimes open a new tab in the same window (which is great) an other times it opens a completely new window (annoying)? I have already ticked the box which tells safari to open new links in tabs rather than a new window, but it continues to open new windows...although not always. Firefox seems to handle this feature a lot better.

Mac Safari :: Safari Not Opening Webpages In Tabs?
so I've got Safari 4.0.4 and Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and Glims 1.0 build 23. I have set all my settings in Safari, System Preferences, Secrets, and Glims, to have Safari load new pages in tabs. HOWEVER, when I click on a link in, lets say, Mail, Tweetie, iChat, ANYTHING, it always loads a new browser window. This would be fine, but it is very cumbersome to have this many windows open, as I usually read 10 articles one after another.

The only way I can get a new tab to open is to Command+Click on a link in Safari and it will open just fine.Any clues? Do I need to completely trash Safari and all its files and re-install it? Do I need to give up Glims?Oh yeah, I also have Adblock Safari installed but it doesn't run because I haven't told Safari to run in 32-bit mode.

Mac Safari :: Safari...Community Toolbar Warning
I upgraded to Safari 5.0.3 some time ago, and in doing so, I now receive a message about the community toolbar not being available or something. I don't know what the community toolbar is and could care less about being able to use it. In a previous thread on this topic, I received information to delete certain files. Here is what I posted previously:

I am encountering the same issue and tried deleting the files you mentioned, but most of them do not exist on my computer. I looked under both login names I have and only located the first file to delete under both login names. I searched using Spotlight after following the locations you posted to no avail, and the Safari message keeps popping up. I cannot delete these files.

Mac Safari :: Safari Warning Message On Main Screen?
I have seen the warning pop up message with red bars that says "warning, this site is suspected...". Today, I saw a new one with either cancel or ok. I hit cancel thinking it would not the page. But, the page loaded anyway (probably should have hit ok instead). Honestly, I knew something was wrong so I closed the page as fast as possbile. I reset Safari with all boxes checkmarked.
I was going a google search on "outside double spotlight repair" or something like that and clicked on one of the resulting pages.

As I understand it, there really is NO virus or spyware out there for macs. Also, one must actually install the offending virus or spyware and enter password to actually put it on a mac. And lastly, Mac OS has a limited AV built in, so, bottom line..I should be ok??

With the exception of iTunes, all is up to date, including Flash Player.

I changed preferences to 'always' open in new tabshowever it now does not work when I click a link. Have I made changes in Terminal affecting it???. I went back to the original forum and it said to go back to settings just type in

defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool false. So I did. Restarted Safari. Restarted laptop. but changes not occurring still.
