Mac Safari :: Unable To Access Certain Websites

Recently I have come across several websites which I cannot access. The sites just don't load (not just with Safari). I'm not sure if this is a problem with the Mac accessing the sites or my service provider.

Mac Safari :: When Connected In The LAN Of Company, Cannot Access Some Websites And Safari?
I have the following situation with Safari: when I am connected in the LAN of my company, I cannot access some websites and Safari do not respond and just keep hang up. For example, to access to my bank accounts. This happens when I have to use an user name and password as an authentication process. But, when I am at home, with the same configuration and same machine, I do not have any problemI am connected to the Active Directory in the company. There is someone that knows how help me on this?

Mac Safari :: Finding Software To Block Access To Certain Websites At Night?
Anyone have suggestions for software or another method to block access, ideally to just forms, or just certain websites, between certain times? I know if I'm the admin I'd be able to get around it, but it would help stop me from buying when I'm not awake enough to make good decisions.

I'm thinking a children's filter would work, but none of them seem to go more specific than turning off the internet entirely between certain times, and that's a bit too broad. In any case, I'm pretty sure I could script just turning off the Airport link for a time if that's what I really wanted.

Any suggestions for scripting the Airport config or other site lookup files (the ones that say [URL]-> this address), perhaps? That would keep me from getting on with the iPhone too.

OS X Leopard :: Unable To Access Certain Websites?
Quite simply, I am unable to access certain web sites. I am sure that this is not an issue with my ISP as I can access the pages in Windows on bootcamp, and also on an Acer laptop connected to the network.

One of the websites I can't get is [URL]

[URL] shows it's just me having problems

"It's just you. [URL]

It's just a simple network that I have, a Netgear router with ADSL modem connects to my phone line and we all connect over wireless.

OS X :: Unable To Connect / Access Some Websites
I am new to Mac and have been struggling with this issue for the last week or so: there are a few websites I cannot access anymore (such as,, and a few others). As far as I can guess it is not:strictly *.au website related (or at least I think) because I can access some others *.au websites and some other in *.com or *.fr don't work either. My ISP (iinet in Australia) as the websites mentioned above work from my PC when I connect it from home. Below the result from a PING on the first 2 websites in the list above:

PING ( 56 data bytes
36 bytes from ( Communication prohibited by filter
Vr HL TOS Len ID Flg off TTL Pro cks Src Dst
4 5 00 5400 0ea6 0 0000 38 01 978d

PING ( 56 data bytes
--- ping statistics ---
37 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

I have this issue from both my iMac and my Macbook Air, on which I have set up no firewall or other specific filter. I am using a Belkin modem, on which I have desactivated the WiFi to use a TimeCapsule as a WiFi router. I get the same issue when I try to connect from Safari, Firefox or Chrome. I have exhausted all tips and tricks I have from the PC word.

I am having trouble accessing select websites (,,,, amongst others). I tried with Safari, Firefox, Opera, IE, but to no avail. I used to be able to access these sites with no problem, and I am truely baffled as to why I can't get to them all of a sudden.

Here'S the error message I get in Firefox:
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

Safari :: Block Access To Websites?
We have a company, approx 32 macs, Lion Server, IP addresses distributed via LinkSys router. Aside from Parent Control and going via Terminal,I would like to know if there is a simple way of blocking access to certain websites? Are there any new apps which provide (hidden or out of sight) control for blocking websites?

OS X :: Guest Account On Leopard / Unable To Access HTTPS Websites
I really like the guest account feature that Leopard (and I'm assuming Snow Leopard) provides.I just got my first Macbook Pro... about a year old running Leopard... part of a client deal (you Mac people just got another application developer interested ).

Anyway.. I'm wondering... I"m getting rid of a few of my other computers on craigslist in the coming weeks and my girlfriend always wants to check her facebook. I'd prefer not to have her accidentally close something important so I setup & configured the guest account. I installed the server admin tools to fully customize the dock/etc.

Two questions however:

1: Thus far the guest account cannot access HTTPS (secure sites) websites. Not in Safari or Google Chrome. Is this an option somewhere? Something I'm missing? I've tried googling for about 30 minutes and have come up blank.

2: Without overwriting the default profile setup (incase I ever want to create new profiles)... is there a way to set a few default things for the Guest user? FOr instance... I know it wipes everything on close... I want it to remember that Google Chrome & Safari have run before (annoying that it asks "do you want this to be the default browser?.. or running the initial safari video).

Feel free to get as technical as you want... as I said I'm a seasoned linux & windows developer getting into the Mac world .

Software :: Safari Can't Access Secure Websites?
My dad set up a managed account for me on my family's iMac and now Safari 4.0.3 will give me the the following error message every time I click on a link to or type the address of a secure website:

Safari can't open the page "pageAddress" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "serverAddress".

I'm curious about what might cause this because it's stopping me from using a lot of user login pages (i.e.: the Google Accounts login page.) Is there some way that my dad could fix this (I'm not the administrator, as mentioned first.)?

OS X :: Safari On Leopard Unable To Find Certain Websites?
Just got my first Mac (24 inch iMac) a couple of weeks ago and overall, I am quite happy. Like it all except for the Mouse (more on that later). I have had a couple of bizarre issues with Safari that I would like some feedback on.

1. Twice in the last two weeks, Safari has gotten itself in a state where it simply will not display certain web pages. For example, the last time, it complained that it could not find google. Other sites displayed fine. The site wasn't down. Firefox had no problems accessing it. Clearing the cache and a complete reset did not help.In the end, I actually had to reboot before Safari started finding google again.

2. I have had some problems getting Safari to accept proxy settings. I often VPN into work and during that period, I have to turn proxies on and once I disconnect, I turn proxies off. I noticed that I have to do things in a certain specific order for Safari to pick up the proxy changes. I first have to turn the proxies on, then connect with VPN and once I am done, I have to turn the proxies off and then disconnect. If I don't do things in that order, Safari behaves as though the change in proxy settings was not made at all.

I tried Apple tech support but I got a rather clueless individual on the other end of the line and I spent an hour plus with her trying all sorts of things that accomplished precisely nothing. This was a brand new iMac with just a Cisco VPN, Firefox and a VNC client installed on it - so I thought some of my problems would be rather easily reproducible.

That apart, I have enjoyed the experience. Pretty much everything else worked like a charm except for the mouse which I already detest. I'll spare you my litany of complaints on that but I am replacing it in short order - probably with a Logitech MX400.

Mac Safari :: Unable To Access Myspace?
I'm running OSX 10.4.11 and Safari v4.1.2 on a G5. I am having all kinds of problems trying to access myspace. Sometimes I get the message saying Safari cannot connect to and then I'll try again later and everything will be fine. And a bit later I will not be able to connect again. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this behavior. Often when I try to log in to myspace I will get a message saying that Safari cannot connect to the server (forget the name). And then the next day I can. Sometimes when I am able to log in to my myspace page some of the modules are blank and sometimes they're fine. Sometimes I'm automatically directed to another user's profile (the same user but it may not be a bonafile profile). I am not having problems w/ any other sites, only myspace. Firefox seems to be much more dependable for the most part but even it too is sometimes a little quirky but only w/ myspace. Here's something really weird that happened. You know the Apple - Mac OS X icon on the dock that normally opens to a page displaying info about the latest version of OS X? One time recently it opened to a weird combination of a myspace profile and info about Mac OS X as if Mac OS X was a person.

Mac Safari :: Certain Websites Inaccessible From Safari & Firefox
In trying to access Edward Jones website, all I get is the spinning beach ball followed by a "could not locate server" error. However, when I bring up IE 8 in Windows 7 (running in parallels - same machine), everything works as advertised. We are able to access this site from our iPhone/iPod Touch without issues. I have gone through all the usual steps of clearing/reseting the browsers to no avail. This does not seem to be a browser issue. My thoughts are that this is some sort of networking issue. I am running 10.6.2 with the full complement of software updates & no Anti-virus software.

Mac Safari :: Cannot Open Specific Websites
I'm having troubles to re-open some web sites visited earlier. I'm on a macbook pro with leopard and safari 5.0.1, all updates installed. Example: [URL]. The first time opened without any problem, the second time can't open again. After typing the address and hit the return key, safari display immediately (without even trying to load the page) the white page with the alert: Safari can't connect to the server. Safari can't open the page [URL] because safari can't connect to the server [URL]. I've try already to reset Safari and clean the cache. No changes. On the same network I have an iMac, which is loading this page anytime without any problem. As well a windows PC is on the same home network, the page can be loaded too. The problem can't be the web-site (it works with other machines). Other web sites on the macbook are working properly, only three address seams to be blocked from this machine only.
