Mac Safari :: How Can Cleanly Reinstall All Safari
My wife is having lots of issues with Safari on her iMac. Tabs don't open when told in preferences to do so, they only open a new window and display nothing but a blank page (I've even tried the command line tricks to fix this, it works once and then it fails again). She has pages that won't load for no apparent reason and my PC and Mac work fine, among other odd issues.I used locate -i after a /usr/libexec/locate.updatedb as root to locate any file on my mac that had the word Safari in it. I then did a rm -rf on all of those files and reinstalled Safari. We still get the same issues.Am I missing something else? I'd like to completely remove Safari and reinstall. As a last resort I will install the OS over itself but I can't afford a clean install at this point because I can't back up her home directory right now. They only thing I'm backing up is her bookmarks.

Mac Safari :: Is There A Way To Just Reinstall Java
On a webpage I visit often that uses Java (I get a Using Java splash first), I now get:

attempted to load Java content, but Java is unavailable or not installed.

I have also tried in FireFox, it does give any notice of a problem, but then doesn't show any results either.

If I got to terminal Java seems to be installed, if I type java -version I get:

java -version

java version "1.5.0_22"

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_22-b03-333-9M3125)

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_22-147, mixed mode, sharing)

I have tried:

1) In Safari turning off Java in the preferences, exiting, restart Safari, turning Java back on.

2) Repair preferences

3) Repair disk with disk utility

4) Repair disk with Disk Warrior

Is there a way to just reinstall Java? I'd really do not want to archive and install.

2. What happened to iphoto. I tried to open some of my pictures from my iphoto library and it said that I did not have iphoto on my computer

Mac Safari :: Finding Safari For ITunes Store To Work But Safari Will Not Update?
I recently did all my software updates (as updated as i could be on a Powerbook G4), and as I'm trying to access the iTunes store, I can't. I get the message that the latest Safari update needs to be completed. Can Reinstall Safari 5.1.2 Over 5.1.3
Safari 5.1.3 is a disaster. Ever since I upgraded a week ago I have had nothing but heartache, with multiple issues cropping up, all of them seemingling unfixable. As it turns out I have a backup of my system that has my previous, non-heartache version of Safari 5.1.2. My question is simple: Now that I've "upgraded" to Lion 10.7.3 and Safari 5.1.3, can I simply overwrite Safari 5.1.3 with the previous 5.1.2 version and get on with my life? Or will various changes throughout the system cause me more misery? Otherwise, I may just roll my whole system back to last week's backup and get on with my life.

OS X Tiger :: Safari Glitch Means Reinstall?
My son has a macbook running 10.4.11. Somehow Safari is corrupted as was firefox. We live in two different cities. I brought the macbook home and uninstalled firefox, reinstalled and it works. Safari doesn't have an unistaller but I used appZapper, emptied the trash, spotlight searched Safari, found one folder and trashed the contents of the folder, left the folder and emptied the trash. Each step repaired permissions.Redownloaded safari and it worked. Sent the computer to my son. It stopped loading again - spinning ball. I asked him to try safari on another user account and it was ok.

He then tried the uninstall which I did only this time when he found the safari folder in spotlight it had 1200 items (might've been bookmarks). Trashed contents, left empty folder and reinstalled a new safari. It soooo didn't work.Safari hangs with the spinning ball. So, there mus be a corruption on his user account and the best way is to re install the system wouldn't you think?1. Can we back up just the his user folder to another computer and then re import it without importing the glitch when doing a fresh install? 2. Can he simply reinstall Safari from his original install discs?3. Would it be possible to just import iTunes and Mail from his user account?

Applications :: Safari Vanished And Can't Reinstall?
Safari 4 seems to somehow have been deleted from my mac. The dock icon had a question mark in it so I removed it from the dock (nothing happened when i clicked on it anyway). When I looked in my applications folder it appears to have gone from there. No problem I thought, i'll just reinstall it. Luckily I have Firefox on the computer so I went to apple.com/downloads and tried to download Safari 4. Nothing happens. A screen comes up saying thank you for downloading Sarafi but nothing has downloaded. Still not a problem i thought because i'm sure I have a copy of Safari 4 in my downloads folder from a few months ago. Found it, clicked on it and went through the install process. When it get to the "select a destination" stage it won't let me install because "this update requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 which means it should work being a newer version. I can continue using Firefox but it seems a bit weird that I can't reinstall Safari. I have also noticed that for some reason i can't download anything else from the apple downloads page.

OS X :: Safari And Firefox Crashing After Clean Reinstall Of Snow Leopard
I loved the speed improvements Snow Leopard gave to my computer, but I knew that I would have to do a clean install sooner or later. Now, Safari and Firefox are crashing frequently (multiple times a day!) and everything is slowing down again. I'm hoping a reinstall of the operating system will fix that. However, I used up all 5 installs on my Family Pack. Can I reinstall Snow Leopard with that disc, even though all 5 installs have been used? Do I need to buy another copy? Can the Genius Bar do the clean reinstall for me while my computer is there for other repairs?

Mac Safari :: Videos Won't Stream (eg Youtube) And Safari Very Slow?
1 - safari very slow to open pages and has been like this for weeks. I have seen a solution to change to 'opendns' under System preferences > network > advanced tab but I cannot see an option for that. I think this may be my problem as Google always opens quickly. Can anyone elaborate on this solution?

2 - Videos won't stream and just hang with circle (e.g on sites like youtube) which started about 1 week ago. Only thing I have done differently is watching megavideos on unknown site. I have tried the solutions given under other threads (e.g. deleting cache files and uninstalling and reinstalling adobe flash). This seemed to help slightly the first time I tried it but still took approx 60s to stream 1 minute video. Has now reverted back to not streaming.
