Mac Safari :: Cannot Open Google - Unable To Connect To Server
I'm asking on behalf of a friend, so please forgive any vagueness and missing vital information. He is a relatively recent convert from Windoze to a Leopard running iMac and I am fairly certain that all relevant updates have been applied. Recently (a matter of a fortnight or so, I believe) he has been unable to access either google or google uk receiving the message, for example: "Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server [URL]."
His Safari can connect to all other websites as normal and his Firefox can connect to all websites including google and google uk. I, although with a different ISP and running Snow Leopard on an i7 iMac, can connect to google just fine. We've deleted Safari's Google cookies, emptied Safari's cache, reset Safari, deleted the plist and run Repair Permissions. He does not run Little Snitch or anything similar so I can't see any access "rule" that might have been unknowingly changed and I have run out of ideas as to where to look or what to do next.

IMac PPC :: Safari, Mail, ITunes, Ichat, Google Earth And Skype Will Not Open On Mac OS X 10.4.11
I am running Mac OS X 10.4.11 Encountered problems opening a .MOV file attached to a Mail email.  The file crashed. Now, none of these files will open:  Mail, Safari, itunes, iChat, Google Earth, Skype.  The icon bounces ONCE, then...nothing. At first I thought it was only internet-linked applications, but I am able to run Firefox browser, as well as open other applications that don't link to the internet, .I have opened similar MOV files from the same source before, and no problems.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Unable To Connect To Any Google Service With Any Browser?
Recently my Mac Pro running OS X 10.7.3 refuses to connect to any Google service. I have tried with Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Camino web browsers with the same result. "Unable to connect" etc. etc. Every other site that I normally go to works fine. I'm pretty sure I don't have the virus because I didn't install flashplayer pkg. I also ran the check to find out if I had accidently ran the pkg with negative results. That being said I also read some of the answers to similar problems and ran a few checks on my own. I opened my network configuration and renewed my DHCP lease, restarted my cable moden and my router. I have also ran a ping on [URL] which came back normal but when I tried a lookup service to [URL] I got the folllowing: Lookup has started†Trying [URL] Truncated, retrying in TCP mode.Trying [URL] Received 28 bytes from 192.168.1.1#53 in 3 msTrying [URL]Host not found: 5(REFUSED)Received 28 bytes from 192.168.1.1#53 in 4 ms¬†It sounds like I have a permissions problem but I'm not sure which playlists to fix in my library. Maybe it's something else entirely.
Mac Safari :: Safari Can't Connect To Server
Using Software Update, I downloaded Safari 4.1.3. Safari worked one time - since then, I get the message, Safari can't open page "http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en" because Safari can't connect to the server "www.google.com". Google is my homepage.

OS X :: Mac And IPhone Unable To Connect To Open Wifi?
I have an open wifi network setup that I can't connect to. There are several PC users in the house able to connect, but my iPhone and MBP are unable to establish a connection. Stranger, is that when I plugged into the ethernet, my laptop was also unable to connect using the "Automatic location." I setup a new location and was able to use ethernet, but wifi is still not working. I used to be able to connect to the network and as far as I know no settings have changed. I've tried resetting the cable box, wireless router and the computers, and I also tried dumping all network related preferences I could find.
Safari :: Firefox Failing To Open Google?
Also, I receive a "Server cannot be found message" when attempting to access Facebook and Youtube. Almost all other pages seem fine but I just receive error messages when attempting to view these few. I am using a new wireless network and wondered whether this could be the problem.

Mac Safari :: Google Websites Such As Google.com, Gmail And Calendar, Doesn't Work
Any google related website does not work periodically and it happens quite often I think.when I try to do some search on [URL] and try to access to [URL]through my web browsers (not only safari but also firefox), it simply takes ages to load and does not reallyload the website. Once [URL]is not working, gmail and youtube all other google related sitesare not working but yahoo, MSN and other sites are all working well at the same time.
Safari :: Email Links Open Google Chrome?
I am using Windows 7 and recently switched to Safari, when I try to open an email link in Safari it takes me to google chrome, how do I fix this? I switched my default browser to safari and looked in settings for any mail options but cant find
Mac Safari :: Cannot Connect To Proxy Server
My computer was just fine until I put it to sleep and the next thing i know when i try to load a webpage on safari AND chrome, they tell me that they cannot connect to the proxy servers. I've been on firefox since.
Mac Safari :: Cannot Connect To YouTube Server?
I recently reset my Safari (everything option chosen) and since then, Safari doesn't think youtube exists. I can Google "YouTube" and click on the link, but then I get a page saying Safari cannot connect to the server. The only Internet-related change I've recently done was to throw away SeaMonkey and download OmniWeb instead, though I don't see how this would affect Safari. OmniWeb can go to YouTube perfectly.

Safari :: 5.1.4 - Unable To Fully Load Google Documents
I am having issues with the latest version of Safari -- 5.1.4 -- not being to fully load Google documents. I have a MacBook 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of RAM, processor, I'm running OS X 10.7.3, and Safari simply will not load the Google docs web page. It gets about one-quarter of the way through it and then simply stops loading. Occasionally, it will load a partial list of documents, but then I get an error message which said Google docs has failed if I click on a specific document (which it loads but won't load the editing tools). So, I'm having to use Chrome.†Google docs worked on the previous version of Safari. This is new, and happened after I upgraded this afternoon.
However...When I try to access the internet via Safari from the actual server, I get the "Safari can't connect to the proxy server" message" but all the client machines can successfully access the internet....
I'll start to read up on proxies but if someone can offer a suggestion in the meantime, that would be terrific. I know it's something simple I am missing...
The file system we use is a Windows 2008 File Server, this has worked fine with leopard for years
However I understand that Leopard splits the files into resource forks - and that Lion has dropped support for these files. That particular mac is now on Lion as we upgraded and encountering LOTS of issues
I unable to open or edit lots of the files as i believe chunks of the files are missing. E.g an .eps file showed as 740KB on leopard - Viewing from a windows PC it was 730kb for the .eps and 10kb for the ._ resource fork.
Now that we are on the LION upgrade, we only see the .eps file and it is only 730kb. Information missing is things such as preview (quark), Font data, type of file, version number. we have hundreds! of images, files etc created with leopard and now upgraded to lion they all have become useless!
Rejoining the resource forks and files together so that they are usable on lion
Mac Safari :: Unable To Open PDF
For the last couple of weeks Safari will no longer open or ask to save any PDF's I attempt to open. It just freezes the PDF screen.(Not the app) I am having no trouble opening any PDF's in Firefox
Information: imac Mac OS X (10.5.8) power not intel
The other day I unchecked that option, closed safari, relaunched it, rechecked it, played a little with ticking that box and eventually the message was gone. But not this time Has anyone found an automatic procedure to make this message go away?
Mac Safari :: Unable To Open Links In Chat Rooms?
I spend some time in a chat room with friends and am unable to click on links to open them. I have tried right click to open, using apple command and clicking. I've copied and pasted into a new browser, but nothing seems to work.
OS X Tiger :: Unable To Connect To Server
I get this message: "Unable to connect - server not responding" When I try to connect to any server on our network from a MacMini running 10.4. The other machines on the network are mostly 10.5 or samba shares. All the other computers can see shares on each other and the MacMini in question has internet access and can ping and be pinged by all the others. Can 10.4 machines not see shares on 10.5 machines?
Safari Will Not Open / Connect To Webpages
I have searched through the forums here and google, and still have not found a solution.  I have logged into other user accounts with the same results, but found that the guest account does work. I've actually booted the machine in target disk mode and deleted safari, then downloaded and reinstalled it, but through the process there are probably a lot of things I've missed.  I've trashed the plugins, reset safari a billion times, and have even created a new location in network settings (per advice on another website). I'm not sure what else to try, short of wiping the system and re-installing (which seems drastic).
OS X :: Can't Set Safari 4 Snow Leopard Google Search Box To Google
Previously the solution was to install Safari plugins Inquisitor or Glims but Apple have removed the interfaces from Safari 4 that these plugins used - and there is still no built in Safari Preference to set the locale of the Google search. Effectively this renders the Safari Google Search field pretty well useless - at least for UK users. If you're searching for UK-based businesses or individuals, for example, the thousands of USA results that come up first are just not relevant - (that's an example of British Understatement. by the way
OS X Leopard :: Unable To Connect To Server And Browse
Trying to connect to a Mac OSX Server share. If I use Finder's 'Connect to Server' and browse, I get 'Connection failed'; when I click the 'Connect As' button, nothing happens. If I enter the IP address, I get "The text entered does not appear to be a recognized url format" (with format examples including "afp://" which is exactly what I'm using). Console may be logging something related to this but it's hex code means nothing to me. I can ping the file server, which is on the same subnet as the client, and dozens of other clients on our LAN have no difficulty connecting to the same server. The web browser works fine. Somewhere on this board I read that I should delete the preference file, "com.apple.NetworkUtility.plist" - I did this & rebooted, with no joy. Rebuilt disk permissions, no improvement.

OS X Leopard :: Mail Unable To Connect To Server
I am a victim of AT&T's "improvement" of its mail service. I came to AT&T by way of Bellsouth, which was bought out by AT&T. Initially this had no impact on the service provided to me. Yesterday we had a power outage in my neighborhood. When the power came back on I could access the web but not my email. AT&T technical support informed me that I needed to be "transitioned" to their new Yahoo portal. (Turns out that is not true, but it's too late now.)
Twice I was guided through creating a new account, with new server settings, etc. by two different technical support people. I am still unable to connect to the mail server using Mail. We are certain the account settings are correct. We have reset my modem so that it also has the correct settings in memory. I can access the web. I still can't collect my mail using Mail.

OS X :: Can't Get To Google Search Page And Get Error Message Safari Canít Open Page
I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.
