Mac Safari :: Cannot Load HTTPs Sites For One User Account

I'm trying to troubleshoot friend's problem on his iMac. He's got his family setup using different user accounts and with one of those accounts, he is not able to access any HTTPS sites (gmail, yahoo, bank of america, etc). It works fine with all the other user accounts as do any regular HTTP sites with the account in question. He has done the usual trouble shooting (delete cookies, reset Safari, delete safari plist, repair permissions, etc) but the problem still exists with the one account. The account is for one of his kids so it's always possible some setting got changed by mistake or it could be something else.

Mac Safari :: Cannot Access Secure (HTTPS) Sites On One Account
First let me say I'm new to Mac. On one account I can't access secures sites like I can in the admin account. This may be a function of rights but am not sure? All updates have been done. I cannot login to this forum, my MobileMe account or my bank for example. I had to change to my other account or gasp, use a PC to post this message. I installed FireFox trying to isolate the problem to Safari but that didn't pan out, I can't get to HTTPS pages in FF either.

I turned off Little Snitch thinking I might have denied something by mistake but that didn't help. I checked the rules and found nothing that wasn't allowed. Nothing was changed in the router. I just turned on Mac and it worked. The iMac is connected to the router via ethernet cable. I've used the search function and tried a few things that have been recommended for others but they didn't help me. I went to the keychain and did a repair, although it didn't find any problem. I over rode a couple keys to always allow them (Apple site stuff) and I ran the disk utility to no avail. For reference I will post the information for both Safari and FF.

Mac Safari :: Browsing HTTPS Sites?
New to the Mac environment and Safari. In our office we use an number of websites using HTTPS after signing in.

Some work fine, but others either hang or functions, such as 'submit' buttons etc do not work. Sometimes the display is all to pot too. Working on the PC using Explorer works fine.

Are there some settings or controls I need to play with to get things to work?

Intel Mac :: Connecting To Certain HTTPS (Secure) Sites?
I can't get into *certain* secure sites.  I first noticed the problem a few weeks ago when I couldn't check out at Amazon, the log-in page would not come up.  Neither would any page on Amazon that is secure, i.e., requiring the entry of my password. The problem has grown.  Most recently I couldn't get into Bank Of America, now I can't get into gmail.  The real kick is I couldn't get in HERE!!  (But I *can* get into my bank account, I *can* get into Chase and I *can* get into Citi, no problems.) The problem is occurring on both Safari and Firefox, so it's apparently not a browser issue. My ISP is Hughesnet, the satellite ISP. Now, how did I get in here and why do I suspect Hughes?  Because I have a back-up dial-up ISP, Juno, and I got in here using Juno and have gotten into all of the other sites I just mentioned using Juno.  Only thing is, Juno takes eons.  I mean EONS. As I said, I suspect Hughes.  But, I thought I'd come here and seek help from you guys, I've received excellent and much appreciated help here in the past.  I'm hoping that I'm wrong, that it's not a Hughes problem, and that someone here can suggest a way I can correct w/e is wrong with my settings (if, in fact, it is my settings).

Mac Safari :: Auto Load Top Sites Into New Tab?
I've successfully auto-loaded my tabs, but is there a way to auto-load "Top Sites" also into a new tab? (I know I can set any newly opened tabs to load "Top Sites"). I am so lazy that I can hardly bring myself to type command-T. Any good way to do this? In other words, I want the browser to open with tabs for site A, site B, site C, as well as "Top Sites". I can do A, B, and C, but Top Sites doesn't seem to have a conventional URL.

OS X Leopard :: Cannot Access HTTPs Sites
I can't access any https-sites. I first noticed this when trying to logon to Gmail, but then realised nothing else that uses https works. Other than that, my internet connection works perfectly. I've tried with the latest versions of different browsers: Safari, Google Chrome, Opera and Firefox. I've got two different profiles on my OS X and the other one still connects to https, so it can't be the router settings. I guess something has gone wrong with my profile.

Mac Safari :: Accessing Both Sites In Itunes Store Account?
About three weeks ago, my safari browser stopped working properly (e.g I can no longer access a number of websites - usually with a [URL] suffix (e.g. [URL] and [URL]and others are slow to load). I had downloaded no new third party software, but had downloaded software updates on 26 January (Java for mac update 6, security update 2010-001 and the iphoto update). When I attempt to load a site, the address just hangs. I have seen a number of similar queries on the discussion forum, but I don't fully understand the technical aspects of some of the answers. I have cleared the cache, reset safari, tried launching from applications and even repaired permissions, but nothing has worked. I downloaded firefox, but was also unable to access these sites through that browser either.

On 7 February, I downloaded the latest version of itunes (9.0.3) and now I am unable to access my itunes store account. When I enter my apple ID and password nothing happens. This means I am unable to fully sync my iphone (i.e. for apps >10mb) and cannot download the latest version of the iphone software. On the advice of itunes support, I have completely uninstalled itunes and reinstalled, though that took 4 attempts because of the safari problem mentioned above, but this has made no difference. Incidentally, I have no problem accessing the itunes store through my iphone.

Mac Safari :: Can't Open HTTPS?
I need to acces several https cites, but the problem is that safari can't do this.

I'm using the latest version of safari 5.0.1, there are no extension installed (except for Adblock), MacOs 10.5.8

I'm connected to the interned via wi-fi router, and I've got no chance plugging directly to the internet without router.

The problem is, that when I only connected to the internet using router safari did open https cite, but after may be two hours and till present refuses.

I tried reseting safari, clearing its cache, repairing permissions and restarting my mac - but it's still the same.

OS X :: Guest Account On Leopard / Unable To Access HTTPS Websites
I really like the guest account feature that Leopard (and I'm assuming Snow Leopard) provides.I just got my first Macbook Pro... about a year old running Leopard... part of a client deal (you Mac people just got another application developer interested ).

Anyway.. I'm wondering... I"m getting rid of a few of my other computers on craigslist in the coming weeks and my girlfriend always wants to check her facebook. I'd prefer not to have her accidentally close something important so I setup & configured the guest account. I installed the server admin tools to fully customize the dock/etc.

Two questions however:

1: Thus far the guest account cannot access HTTPS (secure sites) websites. Not in Safari or Google Chrome. Is this an option somewhere? Something I'm missing? I've tried googling for about 30 minutes and have come up blank.

2: Without overwriting the default profile setup (incase I ever want to create new profiles)... is there a way to set a few default things for the Guest user? FOr instance... I know it wipes everything on close... I want it to remember that Google Chrome & Safari have run before (annoying that it asks "do you want this to be the default browser?.. or running the initial safari video).

Feel free to get as technical as you want... as I said I'm a seasoned linux & windows developer getting into the Mac world .

OS X :: Certain Web Sites Will Not Load On Mac After A While?
Frequent reader of Mac Rumors but I finally joined as I searched a few threads that had similar issues but didn't create a solution for me. Essentially, certain web sites will not load on my mac after a while. When I first got it and subsequently formatted and reinstalled the OS (due to the same issue I'm having now), this issue did not happen.I have a Mac Book Pro, OS X 10.5, 15.4" and other than this software screwup problem, everything runs like a dream.

Here is what happens:
I browse many websites, download files, normal computer usage, and after a while certian websites instantly don't load. A classic example is [URL], which didn't load the last time I had this issue, in addition to [URL], which also didn't load the last time I had this issue. BOTH of these pages used to load fine. The pages instantly go to a "cannot find server" error, on safari, and firefox. However, on parallels, the pages DO load on XP using firefox and internet explorer, although I could have sworn they didn't the last time...which may end up being the case as time goes on.

I have no spyware, firewall, or other network software on the machine. I DO have peer guardian but the problem persists even when I have quit the program.Restarting does nothing. Honestly, I must have done 50,000 google searches on this issue, and different people have different solutions to similar problems (permissions, etc), but this is something new, because the pages used to load and no do not.

Power Mac G5 :: Some Sites Will Not Load At All On Wireless Connection
I have Comcast high speed cable internet, and until recently my PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5 was connected to my LinkSys modem via ethernet cable. Speeds were blazing fast -- I'm a graphic designer and I use this connection to upload/download huge files to various FTP sites. My former roommate, who was a PC user, was wireless and also experienced fast internet speeds. I recently moved the G5 to a room without a cable connection and so I had a local Mac repair shop install an Airport card and antenna. The G5 found the wireless connection without any problem so clearly the card/antenna are working.

However, I almost cried when I tried to get on the internet because my super-fast connection has been reduced to something similar to dial-up. At best, some sites load very slowly. But many sites won't load at all. Previously-visited sites seem to load a bit faster. Is there a solution that will bring my wireless connection speed up to par with a wired connection? Or should I just accept that I wasted money on Airport, and go through the effort of bringing cable into my new office? Since my connection at home is mind-numbingly slow I'm posting this at work and don't have any technical info about the modem with me. However, I know the G5 has these specs:

OS: 10.5.8
Dual 2.5GHz PowerPC G5 (3.0)

OS X :: Loading HTTPS Pages With Safari And Chrome?
My Safari and Chrome refuse to load https pages, as for example, on Apple servers as [URL]

If I try it using Camino or Firefox, it works, but Safari and Chrome (that is webkit (= safari) based don't.

If I just type [URL] on the URL box, Safari and Chrome tell me that the server cannot be reached. The problem is that this https page is used during checkout, so I am not able to finish any order. I have even tried firefox on Ubuntu, inside VirtualBox and it works on the same machine. The problem is just Safari/Chrome.

The problem is not just with Apple. The same problem occurs with some other stores and sites using https around the web.

Mac Safari :: Podcast Will Not Load From Server But Will Load In Other Apps?
Podcast will not load in safari from iWeb Page from server, but will load in Firefox and other web apps.

Here the problem: I have a podcast page made in iWeb. It is setting on a server with GoDaddy. When I try load page with Safari, I get where the Quicktime Playing Bars are a small Quicktime Logo w/? mark and will not download or play. But in Firefox, My iPad and in Windows side it will load and play. Also it play on a friends Macbook Pro in Safari. (Note it will play in my Safari after Firefox has play -it "very strange to me" like Firefox will open some port, but it will not stay open if quit Safari re-booth-it) I have remove the .plist for Quicktime & Safari. And clean out the Cache for Safari. Also have re-set the Firewall setting to Enable Stealth Mode only. Re-load the site to GoDaddy. This is happening to both Mac's in my network and in all users accounts.

My Network is a A&TT with a 2Wire w/wrieless turn off. going into and Airport Extreme Base Station w/N generation network. One computer is connected with and ethernet cable to the Airport extreme base station the other is a wireless contection.

I do feel this and network issue and I can't seem to solve-it. How can I get Safari to open the port and download and play-it on my network?
