Mac Safari :: 400 Bad Request (server Could Not Understand)

I'm having issues accessing guardian.co.uk with Safari 4.0.3 (as is my girlfriend, who's on Safari 3). It works fine some times but every day or so it refuses me access with a message like the following: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

Cookie: anonId=a36f332d-1d5f-4642-91bb-aac7e639f27c;...............................................................................................

I know I can clear the cookie and the site will work fine, but to have to delete the cookie on a daily basis is not ideal. It's only been an issue for the past month or so. The site works fine in Firefox and this is the only site with which I'm having a problem.

Mac Safari :: "400 Bad Request" BUT ONLY On Apple's Sites
I am always getting "400 Bad Request" messages (with miles-long cookies) when I navigate to Apple's sites (store, discussions, support...) with Safari 4. I deleted cookies but that helped only once. This problem migrated from 10.5.8 over 10.6 to 10.6.1 and does not show up with Firefox. I can use this discussion forum only with Firefox. Please have a look at the screenshot of the message. The cookie is much longer than at the screenshot (scrolling). [URL]

Mac Bluetooth :: Last Operation Failed - Bad Request
I use my LG VX8550 phone to transfer files via Bluetooth to my mac. I am able to transfer videos and sounds back and forth, and to transfer pictures only from my mac to my phone. Whenever I use File Exchange to go to browse my phone and go to the MyPictures folder, I get an error message: The last operation failed: bad request. I should be able to get pics off my phone with File Exchange (and please don't think I'm crazy, but I could do it last night), but I can't even get into the pictures folder. Using my phone, when I go to a picture, and go to Send Via Bluetooth, I get a message that says Select A Bluetooth Device That Supports This Feature. I select my mac, and it says Image Transfer Not Supported.

My question is: what did I do to make my mac not support image transfer anymore, and how can I fix it? I have removed my phone from the device list in Bluetooth Pref Pane, and made sure it was completely gone by removing it from the bluetooth.plist, re-added it, logged out, unplugged, ran the daily maintenance script in Terminal, and so forth. Here's the specs for my phone: Device Name: My Phone

Device Address: 00-1c-62-4a-fa-f3
Device Type: Phone
Device Services: Service Discovery Server, OBEX Object Push, OBEX File Transfer, AV Audio Source, AV Remote Control Target, Phonebook Access PSE, Voice Gateway, Voice Gateway, BT DIAG, Bluetooth Modem

Paired: Yes
Configured: Yes
Favorite: Yes
Connected: No
Serial Port: Yes

I'm running 10.4.10, Bluetooth File Exchange is version 1.9.

Mac Safari :: Bad Server Response - Refresh / Reload Will Not Work
When surfing particular sites - and eBay comes to mind - I get the message: "Safari can't open the page [URL]. The error is: "bad server response" (NSURLErrorDomain:-1011) Please choose Safari > Report Bugs to Apple, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message." This usually happens on one page only; all other previous and subsequent pages load perfectly. However this page will not load again without Safari being totally reset. Close Safari, go to the same page, and same error message, repeatedly. Refresh or reload will not work.

Reset Safari and the page loads first time. It's not the page - I usually run both my Mac and PC together and the PC will open the errant page first time when Safari still claims a bad server response. Obviously resetting loses all my history, so I want to keep at least the last half hour or so of pages, but there is no other way. and yes, I have gone to home/library/safari etc etc and cleared the contents of various folders... to no avail. Is there any other way of clearing this page block?

Mac Safari :: Don't Understand Mail?
I have to admit I don't understand Mail. Not just Apple's Mail, but Thunderbird, and all the other email programs. When email was an integral part of Netscape, the functionality made sense. When I am browsing I am also checking my email. CMD-1 I am in the browser, CMD-2 I am in the email. Find something in the browser, click to send, etc.

I think of browsing and emailing in the same thought. When I go to the "Web" I automatically check my email.Today, I use SeaMonkey because it is the only one left (that I know of) that incorporates email and browsing.I just don't understand how to use separate programs. I know their functions, that is not the problem. When I open Safari, for example, I instinctively think to check my email, because that comes in over the "Web" and I am now on the "Web". I don't think there is a way for Safari to open Mail unless you actually want to forward a URL.

That means I have to go find and open a mail program. It seems like such wasted effort, especially if there is no mail and I go right back to browsing. Will someone explain how you ordinarily use browsers and mail programs. I just don't get it - twice the effort - twice the clutter on the screen - no functional advantage -plenty of disadvantages.

I have changed the hostname of the lion server a few times if that broke something. Also the server is behind a NAT so do ports need to be forwarded?

Intel Mac :: Iphoto Lost All Photos / Request To Server Failed?
I have a 2011 intel iMac. It is the (supposedly) powerful 3.1ghz i5, and i upgraded the RAM to 12 Gig. Before buying this machine I had a 2008 iMac and LOVED it, it was superb. But this machine is SLOWER than that one was?! I am running OSX lion, iLife 09 and iWork 11. I am having a nightmare with this machine, it hands constantly, i only have a few apps open and still it can take 5-10 seconds (beachballing) for finder to draw my files when i open a folder. This can't be right. I have reloaded the entire machine from scratch twice by  cloning files off and then MANUALLY rebuilding it (not using Migrate Assistant to ensure to i was not bringing any bad data or bugs across from old installation or old machine). It is slow as a dog, way slower than my old iMac which had a mere 2 Gig of Ram! If i open more than 10 browser tabs in Safari it goes so slow I can't use the internet. The machine crashes at least twice a week and just hands so I have to force shutdown, and my latest error is iPhoto just lost ALL my photos, 5 years worth and gives the error "Request to server failed" but says nothing else of any use. I am hoping to recover them with TimeMachine but wait and see on that score as nothing seems to be right with this machine so no doubt TM will play up as well.

I have VMWare Fusion installed, latest version. It does seem slower when running that, but it still crashed and plays up when that is not running so I am sure that is not the source of any problems, it just makes them a bit worse due to processor usage. Is it possible to get an iMac diagnostically checked (hardware) at an Apple store? It is still under warranty this machine, but I can't drop it off at a store without wiping all my data (clone) to external drive, because I have confidential information stored on it which I can't leave on if the machine leaves my office. I struggled to afford to buy this machine, and thought it would sky rocket my performance and speed after my old machine started to get slow due to age, but even at its worst it was never this bad. I am now a very very disappointed Apple lover, ex-lover?! One final point I should mention, I upgraded the RAM myself, using proper stuff from Crucial. I read that it didn't matter what order the RAM cards were fitted in, is that true or should I try moving them around?†

Mac Safari :: Is Safari 5 Bad For Professional Designers - Failing To Allow Refresh - Reload The Current Page
Safari 5 is failing to allow me to refresh (reload the current page). This is a very specific problem because I design websites (Dreamweaver CS4).

I've noticed that there have been little issues with refreshing concerning:
1) Small CSS change
2) small HTML changes
3) Small PHP changes

(this tells me it's not working on both server-side and Client-side changes)

This has been problematic because I don't know if I have done my job correctly if Safari cant refresh whats really there. I know it is Safari because firefox is not having the same problem.

I did some research and have completed these steps and am still having the same problem:

"If you didn't do any system maintenance before or after installing Safari 4.0.3, that could be the cause of your problem. Try this:
Quit Safari.
Use Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities) to Repair Disk Permissions.
1. Go to Home/Library/Cookies and delete the Cookies.plist file.
2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
3. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Web Page Previews and delete the contents of that folder.
4. If you don't want to use the Top Sites feature, open Terminal and paste in this command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSnapshotsUpdatePolicy -int 2
5. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
6. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
7. Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete these files (if you have them):
Downloads.plist
History.plist
Form Values
LastSession.plist"

After completing the steps there was no change.. Still not updating.

The problem became really apparent today when I change a name-server for one of my clients and Safari continues to load the old page. While the entire world can see the new site parked on it's new name-server, I can see it on the computer that I created it on (new MacBook Pro) on the browser I prefer to use. I have a screen shot of Safari 5 showing the old site and Firefox showing the new site on the same computer screen. The name-server is completely controlled by the domain so it should be all good right? Is there some type of web optimization in Safari 5 that is screwing designers by not allowing us to refresh data?

My next step is to remove all of Safari completely and reinstall. Hopefully I can rope in my favorite browser...

Mac Safari :: "can't Complete Form" Fill From Start - Remove / Overwrite Bad Values?
It's spotty in its application. On some pages it works fine and fills in all fields with one click. On others it says "can't complete form", but then as I begin typing each field, it gives me fill in options. Why can't it just fill them in from the start? My name and phone number fields have bad values that it tries to fill in. I keep entering the right stuff on new forms, but it never seems to "learn" them. How can I find and remove or overwrite the bad values, without deleting all the other fields it has learned properly (do not want total reset)? I think it is getting the last name first version of my name from address book where I have that option set, but I don't want that in my web fill ins. Is there a master auto fill template somewhere with field names and values I can edit? Or does it collect this for every different [URL] I ever fill in, and so there is no way to set values I want used in all web pages?

Windows On Mac :: Don't Understand The Drives?
So back in 2008 when I had a Penryn MacBook Pro, I could honestly tell the difference between using the MacBook Pro in Windows Vista vs. Mac OS X Leopard at the time. Not because they are different Operating Systems, but just by the quality of drivers Apple brings to Mac OS X vs. the crap that they bring to Windows.

But I don't understand it, particularly... I don't understand why we can't just not install Apple's crappy drivers, and go to each hardware component manufacturer's websites and download/install the default non-apple drivers ones and have the Mac run Windows just like a PC... not a Mac running Windows without running crappy drivers? Does this make sense?

I ask this because I am very interested in the MacBook Air, 13", but I also want to run Windows about 40% of the time so I am very confused on if I should buy it over the Lenovo X201 due to the terrible drivers Apple provides.

Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: IChat Not Delivering Messages - Bad Green Icons
We're having some problems with our iChat server on 10.6.4 [URL]

1. Some users are showing up on other users' screens as being logged in and available, even when they are not. Thus messages sent to them never arrive (and message senders wonder why they're being dissed....)
2. Camera and phone icons often do not appear next to buddy names/pictures for many users. All Macs in the office have multi-user audio and video capability.
3. After a recent restart, for some reason, the host domain disappeared from the list from iChat server's general settings (viewed using Server Admin), which kept clients from connecting. Adding the domain to the list solved that problem.

Sounds to me as though some settings file is hosed. I've seen the list of six iChat config files on Page 24 of the iChat Server Administration manual, and I'm guessing the problem lies with one of them or one of the other files in the /etc/jabberd folder. But the documentation is silent about what files need to be trashed and replaced or repaired. I found this. [URL].......

IMac :: Safari Crashes (Bad Access For Exception Type)
So I was using Safari this afternoon, even though I usually use Firefox or Chrome. It crashed again on me and a box appeared that said it may be due to the WCIDEngine Plugin? When I read the problem details to send to Apple, it said "EXC_BAD_ACCESS for exception type, and then for exception codes it said "KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at (some numbers I'm not copying over). Worse yet, it reminded me that I've had 7 crashes since last report. I'm getting awfully tired of this crap. I run a PC that's on Windows 7 and it runs like a charm. I am seriously thinking about going back to it because I got my Mini with the expectation that it would work and most of the time it does, but it's little repetitive things like this that make me question it. I will add that I scrolled down the problem details list and it said that "Thread 0 Crashed" and then proceeded to list a number of things about symantec, like .com/symantec.WCIDEngine".

I keep getting these error messages when Safari keeps quitting. I have Safari 3.2.1 and OS X 10.5.6. I have performed resets, I empty my cache and clear my history often. It seems to be getting worse. The programs get the beach ball and then everything just quits running. 99% of the time I am getting the bad access, kern protection failure message. Is there something I cna do to fix it or prevent it?

Mac Safari :: Safari Can't Find Server - Have An Internet Connection?
After upgrading to the new Safari 4.0 I have been having random connection outages that last about 5 minutes before the issue repairs itself. What happens is, despite me being connected to the internet and other programs actively downloading files/mail messages, I displays a message that it cannot connect to the server of any site. It is completely random and has nothing to do with my router, it is most defintley something on my mac. It is ubsurdly frustrating because I will click a read link then the message will display and I will have to wait 5 minutes before I can open a webpage. Same thing happens occasionally on FireFox but not nearly as bad as on Safari. All this leads me to beleive it is something with my TCP/IP settings but on a mac i have no idea how to reset those all like I can on a windows.

PowerPC :: Snow IMac G3 - Bad Safari Layout - Can't Install FireFox
I've been in and out of these forums since last December. I bought my first MacBook and I couldn't be happier. Best computer ever! I am never going back to PC, and I'm trying to convert the rest of my family. I am starting with the most difficult hill to climb first, my father. He just barely learned how to download music and burn CDs this year. My mom just needs to send emails and pay bills online. So for fathers day, I bought my dad a used show white iMac G3. I can't believe how fast it is. He thought it came from space, but was excited. He's not tech savvy in any way, but he is trying and is slowly learning. I'm trying to get it as close to what he's use to, and there is the problem. He knows what FireFox looks and feels like, but I cannot install it. I download the program, "install" it, but I can't load it up. I click on the icon and it bounces up and down in the dock and then fades away. Its like the feeling you get when your car is about to start and dies down. I have no idea what to do. I'm only 7+ months into Mac's, so I could be missing something simple...maybe? I've check the permissions on firefox and allowed everyone to read/write but nothing I can think of anything else. Also, I've been searching and searching for this one, but I have no idea how to word it and I'm coming up nothing. Since I can't run firefox, I'm teaching the old man to use safari. He could eventually learn it, but even I prefer firefox. That's another story for another time. Any ways, the problem with Safari on his G3, even after every possible update (I think), every layout on every page is totally off. When I click on Safari and the apple home page comes up, some icons are cut in half, the bottom bar with the list of links is towards the middle, and side bars are just messed up. Pages like craigslist come up with a harsh fully aligned left layout. Other pages have words stacked on other words so its impossible to make out whats going on. My mom was going crazy because she couldn't figure out how to log out of her bank account (kinda funny). I've tried Displays on the iMac, I've tried View on Safari, messing with text size, ect, nothing has helped me. I don't know what to do here either.

ITunes Mac :: Fixed Continual Password Request?
This update was supposed to fix the bug that requires many of us to constantly type in our password every time you run update. With this, ahem, "update", not only does it still annoy me with password requests, but after I put in the password, it takes me to the "Account Information " page. Once I click "Done", I can get the updates. Great job Apple, I get 2 unnecessary steps instead of eliminating the first!

Mac Pro :: Only Has 2 400 And 2 800 Ports / Get More?
The Mac Pro only has 2 400 and 2 800 ports. and I was wondering if there was a way to get more, or split them. I have a lot of externals and an isight, etc. Or maybe a solution is daisy-chaining harddrives, does anyone know anything about this, or how to do it.. I'm afraid to experiment with my data.
