Mac Mini :: The Operation Can’t Be Completed Because An Unexpected Error Occurred (error Code -50)
I am getting this error  "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)." when I try to transfer files from my Mac Mini to my External Harddrive which is connected to my Airport Extreme. "  The error does not appear to happen all the time.  It does seem consistent if I am transfering files and then try to transfer more.

The files I am transferring are .mp4.  It does not appear to care about the size of the file, it happens with small files and large files, I can transfer some large folders (2.54G). I can connect the hard-drive externally directly to the mac mini and it will transfer any file.

OS X :: Backup Operation Cannot Be Completed (Error -36)
I've been getting the "error -36" "operation could not be completed because file "" could not be read or written when trying to backup one external firewire drive to another drive (either another external firewire, or my internal startup drive). After the error, the copy operation will hang and be impossible to cancel, forcing a find relaunch about 50% of the time.

-Disk Utility finds no problems with the disk
-The filenames do not contain illegal characters
-If I try enough times the problem file(s) will eventually copy, but then another file will become the problem, suggesting that the file itself is NOT actually corrupted. After successful copy, the file (an MP3) plays just fine. Subsequently, I will have trouble copying that same file again.

There are no strange noises from the HD and I can feel the vibrations from it spinning as normal. My guess is that the HD is on its last legs and is acting flaky but that the data is still OK. What can I do to rescue the data before the damn thing dies completely? Now before anyone jumps on me to UTFSE, I have searched extensively, but havent found anything that addresses my specific situation (especially the part about the files being randomly OK and not OK.

I am using Quicktime Pro on an iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.5. Quicktime will work with iSight but not with my PS3 eye (usb webcam). OS X Leopard :: "Operation Can't Completed" - Can't Get Garageband File?
I'd like to restore a GarageBand file from last weekend. It's on a Time Machine backup on a 1 terabyte Time Capsule. When I pick the restore in Time Machine, I get this error message: The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access "my file". To get direct access, I have opened the folder containing the file on the hard drive image for the Time Capsule, it is at: Time Machine Backups:Backups.backupdb:my Computer:2010-02-14-000752:mymac:Users:myname:Music:GarageBand:my file.band When I try to drag the file to my desktop, I get the same error message. The Finder says permissions for the file are: (Me) Read & Write, everyone Read. All files in the GarageBand folder give the same error message. Other files in other folders do not give that message when I drag them to the desktop. The permissions of these files is the same as that of the GarageBand file. The permissions of the enclosing folders are the same as the GarageBand folder. Why can't I get my GarageBand file? What will it take to restore them?

OS X Leopard :: Operation Cannot Be Completed Because File Is In Use
I have a MacBook Pro running 10.5. It's connected on a Linksys network that also has a few PCs and a Infrant NV+NAS. When I copy files FROM my Mac to the NV+, I'm often running into weird problems with:
a) Being unable to copy the file at all
b) The file starting to copy - making it about 99.9% complete and then giving me an error of "Operation Cannot Be Completed Because the File XYZ is in Use".
Now The file is definitely NOT in use. If I try and do the EXACT same copy (actually copying it from another network drive to the same location) on a PC running XP, it copies fine

Few other bits of troubleshooting:
I've actually plugged in a few other NAS devices (including a USB drive that plugged directly into the Linksys Router I have) and I was having very similar issues. I've tried doing the copy on wireless (which is what I'm typically running) as well as connecting the laptop in via a wired connection. nd have the same exact problem. Often, if I try it a few different times, the same thing happens. Sometimes it works complete. Sometimes when I copy it to a different directory on the same share of the NAS, it works. Sometimes not. I also run my Time machine via the NAS - sometimes it works fine, sometimes it craps out in the middle and stops. I talked to someone at Apple and they thought that it might be the Router. I had a Linksys WRT54G router and had the same problems before I upgraded to another Linksys N Router (same issues).

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Time Machine OSStatus Error 2?
I have a Seagate Goflex Home network drive.  I have been using Time Machine on MacBook Pro with this drive to the Backup Volume (there's also a "Public" and "Personal" volume on this drive.I did something I shouldn't have done.  I deleted the Time Machine back up folder from the Backup volume.  I read in various places on the web that I shouldn't do this.  But did I listen?  Noooooooo. Now, when I go to Time Machine preferences and select a drive, it asks me to log into the drive (but I am already logged in).  I do so and click to connect and I get an error message: Time Machine can't acces the backup disk "GoFlex Home Backup".The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error 2.)So, I've read that if I delete the Time Machine info from this disk that I may need to reformat the drive to use it with Time Machine again.I have lots of other data (in the other volumes) on this drive.
