Mac QuickTime :: Dock And Desktop Won't Disappear When Using X In Full Screen

This issue doesn't happen all the time, it only happens once in a while but it's annoying none the less. When I play a trailer or movie using Quicktime X and then Click the full Screen button, sometimes the dock won't hide and the desktop won't disappear. This only happens once in a while.

OS X :: Pointer Won't Disappear On Full Screen Videos?
Brand new to mac book pro 2.66ghz from pc this week. Learning the ropes although slowly. I've been watching some tutorial online on different sites and I'm wondering why (it seemed to work at first) when I click to view in full screen mode the pointer stays on the screen. When watching a movie on dvd or full screen you tube video the pointer is supposed to disappear. Since I don't know my way around yet and what to look for I figured I'd throw it to the experts.

OS X Leopard :: Finder Won't Open - Desktop Items Disappear
About a week ago I started having my problem. Finder won't open, and the items on my desktop won't show up/disappeared. I can still access all my files on my desktop through the spotlight, but I can't access them on the desktop. All that shows on my desktop is the background, and nothing else. This just started happening I think after I downloaded the latest software update, but I can't remember.

Intel Mac :: Dock Spaces Desktop Picture Screensaver All Crashed And Won't Work
The Dock doesn't appear. Spaces is greyed out and won't stay enabled. Desktop picture cannot be selected (stays standard blue screen). Screensaver does not work and cannot set hot corner.

I have deleted the dock plists, restarted, repaired permissions, updated to 10.6.8, restarted again. Still no dock, no Spaces, no desktop picture change, no screensaver.

How did this begin? I had lots of large-memory apps running (eg. Photoshop, Garageband, Pages, Audacity, etc) and then there was a freeze, I can't remember which app – probably Photoshop) and I had to shutdown using the on/off button.

After that startup, all the problems were present. :-( (I've looked at related Dock-crash posts here: I do not have installed: Parallels; Fusion.)

Applications :: QuickTime Pro V.7.6.4 Won't Play Full Movie
QuickTime has started playing only 3 or 4 seconds of some avi movies. The timer bar goes all the way to the end, but only lasts a few seconds. The files play fine in VLC or on my WDTV, but not in Q.T. It seems very selective, sometimes it does it, then it will play just fine the next day. I have Perian installed. I have Tiger (10.4.11)

Software :: Won't Play Full Screen Movies And Games On Second Screen
I have a Early-2008 Model MacBook with a... I think it's a 19" ACER widescreen monitor hooked up dua-screen. Works marvelously, but I want it to play my movies and games, preferably without the laptop screen going black. Currently, playing a fullscreen game has the external screen go black and it plays on the laptop.

Applications :: Won't Work With Full Screen And Screen Sharing
Does anyone know of a way to enter full screen in Mac OS X's native screen sharing application? I recently purchased a new MBP and wanted to screen share to my old MB with all my "junk" on it. It would be handy to actually enter full screen as opposed to being restricted to a window sized screen.

If this isn't possible, anyone have a good recommendation for an alternative application?

I'm putting a few clips onto a DVD for a friend. The problem is they're quite low resolution and ideally when their button is clicked they wouldn't go to full screen, but would be about half that size so they still look crisp(ish)

Is there any way of doing this in iDVD? With a plain surround or something.

Applications :: Won't Use Full Screen In Front Row Or ITunes
You know how with Quicktime you can stretch the image so it use the whole screen, similarly when using an iPod via a video out cable to watch a movie on TV it can zoom in to fill the screen?

Is there any way to do this when watching movies in iTunes or via Front Row? I watch a lot of TV shows on my MacBook when away and would prefer to have a full screen even if it cost me the top and bottom of the picture or some stretching.

Mac QuickTime :: Quicktime 7 Won't Upgrade To Pro In Snow Leopard?
I just recently migrated to Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro. I had been happily using QT7Pro like so many others here, not expecting to be forced to buy another Pro key.Fortunately, I did a fresh install on a new HD leaving Leopard on its original HD, so it still has the 7Pro app there. On the new drive, 7 is nowhere to be found.

So I went to open QT7 off the old drive, and it was in its "locked down" basic mode. I still have my Pro key and I went to enter it, but selecting "Registration" does nothing. No error message, no crash, nothing at all. It just ignores me. Same when I do "Quicktime Preferences".What am I missing? Anyone else having this problem?

Mac Safari :: Quicktime Movies Won't Play - Displays Quicktime Logo With Question Mark?
I've searched the forums and haven't found a solution so I decided to straight out ask. I can no longer view quicktime clips (Apple movie trailers) in safari. The box comes up to play but then just displays the Quicktime "Q" with a question mark over it. I've checked the installed plug-ins from the help menu and it does show quicktime. This used to work fine so I'm not sure what happened. I cleared my history recently but don't think that would affect it. Also, everything runs fine when using Firefox.

IMac Intel :: Desktop Area Larger Than Screen Area - Can't See Dock
I have an intel iMac 24" introduced this last winter. Suddenly today I noticed something odd. This was not true yesterday. Basically, the desktop area is larger than my screen area. If I can see the menu bar, I can't see the dock. Also, if I can see the Apple icon on the menu bar, I can't see the time of day on the menu bar. If I slide the mouse to where the dock or time should be, the entire desktop scrolls to reveal it but hides what is at the other end (showing the dock hides the menu, showing the time hides the apple icon). The system profiler (under About this Mac), indicates the display is 1920 x 1200. That is also the resolution shown in System Preferences under Displays.

OS X :: Full Screen Window Wtih Overlapping Dock?
New Mac user with a couple of questions:

1. Is there any way to be able to maximize a window to fullscreen by dragging the bottom right corner, like say a browser window, but have the dock overlap it? Auto-hide on the dock is too slow. If I have the dock on auto-hide, stretch a browser to full screen, then unhide the dock.. the dock does what I want and overlaps the maximized window. However as soon as I open a new window, or minimize/maximize the browser window, or hit the zoom button, it resizes so that it does not overlap the dock. It's annoying to lose 3/4" of vertical space on the bottom just for the dock..

2. Is there a keyboard shortcut for to mute the audio? I know there's a dedicated fn button on the MBP but I have a logitech 8 button mouse and on my PC the logitech software gave me "mute" as an option for what a button could do. Unfortunately I'm unable to get the logitech software working on my Mac so I downloaded Steermouse which is great but doesn't give me volume control options for my mouse buttons unless there's some kind of keyboard shortcut that exists?

3. Is there really no keyboard shortcut for the undo command???? That seems kind of crazy. It's blank in every application I've check, yet there's a keyboard shortcut for redo.

4. Is there anyway to remap cmd-x/c/v to ctrl-x/c/v like on a pc? The command button is so close, this is definitely one function that is better on a PC.

5. Is there a way to change the default file manager from finder to something else? I downloaded Macintosh Explorer and really like it, but everytime I open a folder on my desktop it opens it in finder (which I strongly dislike).

I have already posted this in another section but I was told I should try posting it in here. Not sure why this has started happening but it never used to before. When I try and play a Youtube video in fullscreen the dock & the menu bar stay in the video screen. It is only Safari that does this I have downloaded Google Chrome and did not have this issue. I have tried uninstalling Safari 5.0.1 and then downloading Safari 5.0 but that did not work then I tried downloading 5.0.1 again and the issue is still there. I have also tried removing Flash player and re installing it. Here is a screenshot of what happens. [URL]

Software :: Finding Quicktime Full Screen Viewing
I am trying to down load some college lectures from the Annenberg media educational site. I have tried a coupe different ways, including as a movie file.

I have also discovered the fact that I then have the option to "Save as Quicktime movie" which provides a fine quality file for viewing -- except it is tiny, and I cannot seem to find "Enter Full Screen" or any other option.

It is frustrating because while doing this, at some point I did stumble on a fell screen option (or double, fit, etc.) which has seemingly disappeared. The QT file is called "Western_Tradition_35.asf (video/x-ms-wmv Object)". When there, the File dropdown gives me only a Zoom option which is no help for the picture.

QuickTime :: Full Screen Playback Only On Main Display?
I noticed that after upgrading to Lion quicktime player won't play movies full screen on my second display.  Under Snow Leopard if the quicktime window was on the second display and you hit full screen it would fill the display is was on.  Now the video slides to the main display and then goes full screen.  There doesn't seem to be any way to change that behavior.  There are no preferences.

The only work around is to move the menu bar in the display preferences to the second menu, so that the second monitor becomes the main one.

OS X :: Full Screen Desktop - Jumpy?
Okay, I am running OS 10.5, and one of my kids did something to the desktop that makes it look "jumpy". When moving the mouse, the screen moves also, since not everything fits on the screen any longer. To see the dock, you move the mouse down, but then the menu bar at the top disappears. It's almost like they did something to make the screen larger than the display, so not everything on the desktop can fit the display (iMac). Luckily, it is not my user account, but still, it is driving me nuts!!

OS X :: Won't Work With Game Graphics / Can't Work On Full Screen
I'm on a IMac OS X (version 10.5.8) and I just noticed a bit of a change in the graphics while playing Heroes of Newerth. I left all the graphic stuff on medium quality, and I've noticed now that when it is on full screen the picture is sketchy. When I minimize the full screen (apple m) i realize its a lot smoother than it is in wide screen (no kidding huh?). Before I thought it was just due to me having the IMac wireless, but I've noticed it's been happening for a week already and I usually get better bandwidth when no one is home. So is this a graphics card issue or what and if so how would i deal with this?

I've created an app that sends out videos - when the videos are played, the play/rev/forward buttons automatically show up in the QT. Is there any way to make it so that the buttons do not appear during playback? Is that something that is done when the QT is saved for iphone? Or is that something that is done in the coding process where the person doing the programming/coding for the app can instruct the quicktime to not show the buttons.

Applications :: Quicktime Pro - Full Screen Movie Spanning Multiple Monitors?
I'm looking to build a kind of video wall. I have 4 LCD monitors which I've hooked up to a Mac pro to get a resolution of 3840x2104 on screen. Then I made an After Effects movie of a white box bouncing around the screen rendered at 3840x2104. What I'd like to be able to do is play the movie full screen and have it actually fill all four screens, but when I do Cmd+F and make it "full-screen", Quicktime is insistent on just filling one of my screens. I can expand the window (in non-full screen mode) to fill all four monitors, but then I have borders everwhere which I don't want (IE, the OS X menu bar and the "play" buttons at the bottom, etc). Quicktime has full screen settings which allow you to choose which monitor you'd like to fill, but (from what I can tell) there's no way to have it use more than one monitor. Does anyone know of a way I can play the movie across all four screens? I thought maybe another media player would offer this functionality, but I tried using VLC and it didn't seem to. Are there any other third party packages supporting H.264 that might offer this? Is there some plugin or method for Quicktime to beat it into submission?
