Mac Pro :: Intel X25M G2 2.5" To 3.5" Spacer Fit In Mac Pro?
Sep 4, 2009
Does the 2.5mm spacer in the C1 and R5 SKUs fit in the Mac Pro drive bay? So I won't have to buy the Icy Dock 2.5" to 3.5" converter?
INTEL SSDSA2MH080G2C1 X25M 80GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
INTEL SSDSA2MH080G2R5 X25M 80GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
01 = 7.0mm thick
C1 = 01 + 2.5mm spacer to fit in standard 9.5mm height
R5 = C1 + retail packaging

I just got my Intel X25m 160gb, and it's really fast, except for the boot time. It takes 30 to 32 seconds to boot each time. I searched around and I did what everyone else did to fix boot times, and I've had no luck. When I got it, I formatted it to Mac OS Extended (Journal), and made sure it was the startup disk in System Preferences. (here's a picture: ) Once the white screen with the apple logo comes up, it takes 10 seconds to boot into OSX. Any suggestions to decrease the boot time?

When I had just installed the Intel X25M (80 gb G2) shutdowns took merely 2 seconds. Now, after the dock minimizes adn hte icons disappear, the computer just hangs for 10-15 seconds, turns into a blue screen and hangs for maybe 10 seconds more before actually shutting down (black screen, everything off).
Does anyone know what is wrong? The drive is only 2-3 months old, and I still have 40 Gb free.
I was thinking it is some program that is running in the background that is having trouble quitting.

I have a 80GB Intel X25-M G2 that cannot boot in less than 30s.
I keep reading that people get bootup times as low as 15s, and I was wondering if there is something I am doing wrong.
I am using about 30 GB of SSD space, and I use a 500 GB 7200 RPM Seagate Momentus XT hybrid as a scratch disk (downloads, documents, pictures, etc.) in the optibay.
I just did a clean install of snow leopard yesterday, formatted my X25 (wrote zeros, mac [journaled]), installed SL, updated, etc. The bootup time went up to over one minute.
I reinstalled snow leopard again (did not format this time) and it went down to 33s. I then reset the pram and it went down to 27s.
Now, it's back around 30s.

(I don't post to this section really, but thought I would share this...) For $1449 you can get a Certified Apple Refurb 2.2GHz MacBook Pro [URL]
- 15.4" LED Screen 1440x900
- 2GB RAM (expandable to 4GB)
- 120GB HD (upgradable)
- DVD-R/W CDR Superdrive
- nVidia GeForce 8600M GT (can drive dual-link 30" displays)
Ports: Power, Audio-in, Audio-Out, dual USB-2.0, ExpressCard32, Dual-Link DVI, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 (umm...about 10 ports) so, compare that to the base $1799 MacBook Air. With the MacBook Pro, you are getting ALOT more for your money, a much more powerful, more expandable, more spacious machine that can easily network, download, move files, etc...plus it's $350 cheaper! I just don't understand the hype about the $1799 MacBook Air, I guess...it seems overpriced for what you are getting...TWO PORTS? NO ETHERNET? what? No disk drive? No Firewire? I guess it's the same hype that the Duo created, then the 2400c, then the 12" PowerBook...people just want TINY Tiny tiny. And they will shell out anything for it. Tinyddiction I guess it is. Anyways, I just can't equate that for myself. The MacBook Pro is just a no-brainer vs. the MacBook Air. It doesn't even come close for me.

OS X 10.4.3 IMAC Intel Core Duo. I backed up my HD on an external drive so I could upgrade to Snow Leopard. I wanted to test that I could boot from the external drive and selected it as my start up drive. When I did a restart I got the Apple and the turning gear and then suddenly a black screen with this on it:
"May 28 22:23:11 Launched:com.apple.nibindd:respawning too quickly throttling, exited system abnormally bad system call too many failures in succession I have no name!"
I tried several dozen times with no luck. I think when I made the copy of my HD on the external HD I may have neglected to make it "bootable" (moving too quickly). My internal CDROM is busted so I use an external CDROM. I can't boot from it at all with the proper start up buttons pushed. It keeps trying to boot from the external drive. If I turn the external drive off and try to boot from the external CD I just get the grey file with the ? in the middle of it.
I tried using another external HD I have with OS 10.4 on it, but it won't recognize it either with fan, alt, shift, delete pressed at start up. My internal drive (a Seagate 2 tarabite drive) works great, but how do I reset it as the start up drive when I'm stuck with this black screen. One more thing, when I try to reset PRAM I don't get a second gong.

After connecting the imac to a new router the system hung completely up. After each input, e.g. opening preview or a browser, the coloured turning disc appeared and nothing happened anymore. Several restarts, also in safe mode, were unsuccessful. I could not switch to another user. Restart is only possible at all from installation disc but thereafter problem remains the same.

I have a 2007 20 inch Intel core 2 duo iMac and an LG 46" LCD tv. I bought an HDMI cable and a Mini DVI to HDMI adapter but cannot get them to work together. Nothing happens when I click on detect displays in the system preferences.
Do I possibly have the wrong version on Mini DVI, for instance DVI-D instead of DVI-I?

I turned it back on, it does the usual startup chime and then gray screen. I have restarted twice from the shot off button and still getting the same result.

first, I didnt know if this thread should be here or in Buying Tips, but anyway. My doubt is about the brand new 27 iMacs processor, If I should buy a more GHz one, but with only two cores, or should I buy little bit less GHz one, but with four cores.
It really worth pay $200 more? It really worth the four cores? My main needs are run CS4, some Final Cut, maybe Logic Studio, and switch between different OS's (OS X, Windows, and Linux). I think even a 21.5 model would be more than enough, but I just wonder If Quad Core gonna give me more power (I hope so).

What the heck is the difference between the integrated GFX card in the first and 2nd 15" MBP?
I can't figure it out
EDIT: Nevermind, it's not even worth figuring it out. It's a $60 difference for the higher spec'd MBP after student discount difference ($100 vs $150 off). I'll pay $60 for that

I purchased a new intel ssd and am having trouble setting it up. First I backed up my entire system using time machine to my time capsule. I inserted the ssd and used the mac osx install disc. I partitioned the ssd. At this point I went into utiities and selected restore from backup. I selected my backup source then selected the backup date and time. The next screen is the problem. It is called select a destination. It just says searching for disks but never does anything else.
