Logic Studio / Pro :: Piano Roll Grid Always Looks Like 16ths?

In earlier versions of Logic, changing the Quantize Value in the piano roll would also change the bar dividers to reflect that value.

It seems like in these latest versions the grid is always divided into 16th notes. Is there a way to change what the grid in the piano roll appears as?

Logic Studio / Pro :: How To Show All Regions When Opening Piano Roll
I want to be able to see all events in all regions when opening (not toggling!) a piano roll. I just switched from version 5 (yes, 5) to 9. It used to be like this: you deselect all regions and then just open the matrix editor (that's how the piano roll was called in ancient times).

If I do this in 9, the piano roll shows nothing. If I select all regions and open the PR, it shows only one. If I select one region, open the PR and then go back to the arrange window and select all regions it does show all info in the PR but this is a bit of a not-very-efficient work around.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Possible To Capture VST's Arpeggiator As Piano Roll?
I would like to know if it's possible to record/capture a VST's arpeggiator as a Piano Roll, for example, Native Instruments FM8 or Rob Papen Predator arpeggiators, I can only record it to the piano roll window by using 'one-hit' note and the output will record it, but, ofcourse its not the actual 'Arpeggiated Piano Roll',, To help you illustrate what I need , a Youtube video shows using Catanya VST with CuBase and Ableton Live, hitting record was able to capture that Piano Roll, and that helps it to be manipulated later on

As soon as I hit record, the first selected track disappears. I tried to shift click the two tracks but that didn't work. Once the second track is recorded, yes, I can view both tracks.......but I want to see this WHILE I AM RECORDING.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Good Piano Sound - Natural And Realistic?
I'm reasonably new to Logic and definitely a novice when it comes to piano sounds. I don't have the money to invest in a decent acoustic or electric piano so was just going to use the soft synths and bundled effects with Logic 8. After all it doesn't have to be amazing sounding or anything but I would like it to sound as natural and realistic as possible. I've heard good things about the piano sounds in Logic and someone was telling me that just by adding a few key effects you can get it to sound really good. Which is the best piano sound that comes with Logic 8? and what affects are the best to put onto it please?

Logic Studio / Pro :: No Effect With Yamaha Grand Piano Sampler
I recently got a second M-Audio SP-2 pedal to hopefully use as either a sostenuto or una corda on my M-Audio Keystation Pro 88. When I configure it on the controller, everything looks good there and in Logic (the transport reads the correct CC and note on/off commands) but there is no sostenuto or una corda effect using Logic's ESX24 Yamaha Grand Piano sampler. Finally it hit me - maybe Logic's Yamaha Grand Piano does not have una corda or sostenuto samples. Can anyone confirm? Or has anyone gotten these effects to work in Logic using that sample?

Logic Studio / Pro :: Score Window Lock Position To Piano Role
In Logic 9, I edit my notes in the piano roll window, then switch to the score window to check their placement and duration. But I notice that the score window is not the same position as the piano roll. For instance, I edit a series of notes at bar 94 in the piano roll tab. I then click on the score tab and it places me at bar 46 in the score.

I'm wondering if this an irritation that I just have to live with or is there a cure for this behavior? It would be nice to have them in the same position.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Multitracking Without Click Then Afterwards Quantizing To Grid "confusing"
I haven't seen discussed much (or at least from what i've seen). But how would you go about recording a multitrack session without a click then afterwards quantizing the band to a tempo grid. I know in Logic 9 it might be easier and im yet to upgrade as im still in L8. but wait. it gets a little more confusing than that. What I mean is, the band your recording don't wanna record to a click they just wanna "free" record right?. So they record and jam the song like normal and its all being recorded. Then after you wanna get all those drums and everything quantized to a tempo grid to sound more tight. I AM FAMILIAR HOW TO STRIP TO SILENCE THEN QUANTIZE IN THE EVENTS LIST. AND I ALSO KNOW HOW TO BEAT MAP. But i guess my question is how would you know what BPM you would set? "Geese!" its kinda hard to explain, For instance, I know you would probably want to start off Beat mapping the drums but you wouldn't want to only rely on the beat mapping cause if the drums are "off" then your just telling Logic to follow an off beat song. So how would you get the song to an average tempo but still get all the tempo changes? if any? I guess the beat mapping will catch the tempo changes but how would you find a set bpm within those changes?

Logic Studio / Pro :: Making Space In My Hard Drive To Install Logic Studio Upgrade?
I have a 1st generation Mac Book Pro. That means 100Gb of storage.

I've been using it for professional audio recording since then with Logic Pro (6 or 7 I think) and I made necessary upgrades when they were available in both Mac book and Logic. So, now my Mac has 2.16 GHz processor, 2GB memory RAM and is running Mac OS X 10.6.3 when it comes to Logic, I am in Logic 8, trying to make the last upgrade of Logic Studio but looks like there's no more space available on my laptop. At this point, I moved any other data that I don't need. My Hard drive is almost full of a data that most of it supposedly needs to be replaced or skipped. I'm talking about additional content of audio coming on Jam Pack, etc... The installation program allow me to put some of the data in other hard drives (about 22.68 GB) but still is not enough.

Is there any way to solve this? May be uninstalling programs and data that later will be installed again with my upgrade? I don't want to make a mess before asking.

Probably is time to get a new computer. If this is the only option please somebody tell me! but if is not, I refuse to spend the money. My laptop is working fine...

OS X :: Piano Starts To Cut Out Playing Too Many Notes / MIDI Were Overloading Logic
I am running an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 MIDI controller via USB into Logic Express 7. I use Mac OSX. I'm going straight from the Keystation Pro 88 into the MIDI port of my MacBook Pro. I use a Pre Sonus Firepod as my audio interface (not sure if that's even relevant...).

When I begin playing too many notes (especially after pressing the sustain), the piano (Garage Band grand piano .exs) starts to cut out. It sounds like BAD static, as if the MIDI were overloading Logic. I've tried changing the buffer size in audio preferences - it gets no better, only worse when I lower the size (32 being nothing but static).

Logic Studio / Pro :: Deploying Logic Studio With Apple Remote Desktop - Is This Possible
I work at a university and we're going to be deploying Logic Studio to about 40 machines. I'm wondering if it's possible to do this with the following strategy and if anyone here has done something similar etc or has a better idea?

Create images of the installation discs on the hard drive.

Mount them all.

Using Apple Remote Desktop, deploy the main installer package on the first disc to all the remote machines in one go, hoping it will pull in all the other packages from the locally mounted disc images by itself.

The only other way I could think of doing this without wasting too many hours would be to install Logic Studio on one machine then clone that entire machine's hard disk to all the other ones, but this would be a pain as we have a few different macs in the university and with different configurations. In the past we have just imaged the installation discs to a portable hard drive and gone round each machine installing manually. Takes up to a week as we have to tend to other duties too

I have seen others with the issue on the discussion boards, although it does not look like a widespread issue.I like to view my music in grid view, under the "artists" heading, and I prefer to have certain album artwork as the default grid artwork for most of the artists. After updating to iTunes 9.2 after I got my iPhone 4, I noticed that when I attempt to set the default grid artwork it no longer sticks immediately upon selection. I noticed after fiddling around with it that if you exit iTunes and then open it back up, the artwork will be what was selected. This is not the behavior it used to have as it used to reflect the changes immediately.
