Logic Studio / Pro :: Digi 003 As Control Surface For Logic 9?

I have read a number of discouraging threads about the difficulties of using the Digidesign 003 as a control surface for Logic 9. I wonder if anybody has a working solution. Is there any hope for an easy and effortless soution for using at least the faders with Logic 9?

Logic Studio / Pro :: Not Seeing Control Surface (Alphatrack) Properly?
So this is a new piece of kit (The Alphatrack) and it's been working fine until I decided to boot Logic without it plugged in (I didn't need it). It told me the Control Surface was missing which was fine. However, I now go back to switching it on and wish to use it and I get the message:Device "AlphaTrack" is assigned to MIDI Port "AlphaTrack" which is not present. Please ensure that all MIDI interfaces are connected and switched on. If this is the case, please check the MIDI port setting of device "AlphaTrack". If this is correct, click "Reset All MIDI Drivers" in Preferences > MIDI > General.

I've looked through all the Control Surface options and can't see how to reactivate it or see where/how to 'check the MIDI port setting of device Alphatrack'. I've also tried 'Reset all MIDI drivers' which hasn't cured the problem. The Alphatrack is partly responding (for example the fader is following the project, but not allowing me to control it) but nothing else (the selection buttons seem to trigger notes).Uh, what's going on? I think it's a Logic thing, not an Alphatrack thing. I don't have much experience in this area.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Korg Kontrol49 As A Control Surface?
Let me start with the basics. The Mod Wheel doesn't work, the sustain pedal doesn't work. The X-Y joystick doesn't work.Compare this to the control surface implementation in Reason, where everything works perfectly. It's so bad in Logic that I have taken to removing it from the midi device plug ins, by right clicking on the Logic application and removing the microKONTROL.bundle. Logic Studio / Pro :: Unable To Use Control Surface - Key Commands?
I am programming my korg kontrol49 to do certain shortcuts for me. I am mostly having success except for 2 things:

1. I am trying to get the 8th fader on the controller to control master volume. It takes the programming on (sometimes it takes a try or two to get it to work) but the label on the controller still says "hall bus" which is the channel before it.

2. I am trying to program some of my key commands in on the pad buttons. I want to get my "all solo off" and "all mute off" commands to program but I can't figure out how to get it to accept the key commands.

When I tell it to learn, it hears me choose the button on the controller, then I can click on the key command assignment area in logic, and when I try to enter the command, it only "hears" the first button of the command and ends up assigning everything to the command button.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Finding Thread About Plugin Parameter Order On Control Surface?
I believe I read something about Logic 9 now letting you assign plugin parameters in a custom order - or something like that. I can't seem to find it and would like to know more about using control surfaces.I just got a old Logic Control and would love to use it to adjust my plugs but apparently my brain needs some sort of firmware update - I can't seem to figure out 1. if it's possible or 2. how to do it. Ideally I'd like to use the pots and sliders to adjust the frequency & gain on eq, or set up sliders to certain parameters for waves plugs.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Using Midi Beat Clock From Protools To Control Logic
I need to be able to have Protools Sync control Logic 8, soon to be upgraded to Logic 9 (Studio) for loops during recording sessions. I'm a drummer, and I need to have the sync come from the Protools system, or other DAW, so that everything to is gridded out nicely in protools and it saves the engineer time, etc.

I've got the sync button activated in my toolbar in Logic, and I seem to have all the correct settings, yet nothing happens when the engineer sends me Midi Best Clock. Which, as I understand it, is something different from Midi Time Code or SMPTE. Does anyone have the answer to this? Also, I'm using a Presonus Firebox with the Midi breakout cable to get the Midi Beat Clock into the my computer. Is there some setting there that is not correct perhaps? I haven't found a place to deal with any Midi settings within any of its control panels.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Random MIDI Control Messages Created - BUG In Logic 9?
All of a sudden, with a project I was doing last night, I would record a MIDI part then when I play it back it's automatically playing it back with a different preset.

When I look at the editor, I notice that a random MIDI control message has been inputed as a program change. In order for it to not constantly change to this, I need to delete that message.

The funny thing is that it's not on just one track, it keeps doing it on other tracks too! Very random.

I also tried dragging files from the audio bin but every file in there has an exclamation mark next to it, and when i drag it into the arrange window it is greyed out!I dont get this, if it opens fine and plays all the audio on the studio comp, how come theyre all missing when I open it at home?!!

Logic Studio / Pro :: Logic 8 To Gigastudio PC Back To Logic 8 In Audio?
I apologize if this is out there somewhere but I have been patiently looking for months and haven't found the exact answer I am looking for. Hopefully you all can help me out.

I run my DAW (logic studio 8) on a MacBookPro. I have a perfectly running Gigastudio3 machine that I want to make slave to this Logic DAW. I have read things about Midioverlan and iMidi and a few others like FX etc. However, none of them seem to be doing what I need or I am missing the fact that they do (or they don't support OS X <-> Windows).

I also own Vienna Instruments and it comes with "Vienna Ensemble 3" which allows me to install a service on both machines, allowing my Windows PC (which is 10 times as powerful as my MAC) do all the processing of the samples, reverb etc. It then sends the AUDIO back over the lan without any jitter or loss of data etc and latency. I love it and so I am looking for some way to do this with my Giga setup since I own so many libraries which are GIGA only. I want to be able to send out Midi commands (that I have recorded from live playback) from Logic to the Gigastudio Windows PC, then have it send me back all the processed data (because my Lavry DAC's are all hooked up to my RME Hammerfall DSP Multiface2 on my MAC). So I want the actual Midi commands sent from Logic to trigger Giga to play it back through the samples I have loaded in Giga3, then send back the information to Logic and out my DAC's. I hope that makes sense. Midioverlan seems to only send midi information which then I would have to have my DAC's local to the GIGA machine, not my LOGIC machine and I don't want that because I am using other samplers on my Logic DAW.

I have a Hammerfall DSP Multiface2 on my MacBookPro and an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 on my Giga machine.I am hoping someone can tell me how to link the two the best way. If worst came to worst, I am willing to cut a whole in the wall (professionally) and run either midi cables or whatever it takes between the two soundcards to make this happen. I just need to know what is the best way to accomplish this.

I recorded midi performances with software instruments (distorted startocaster and 12-string acoustic), both of which appear in stereo midi tracks and output through aux or output tracks. I want to know how to control panning, as both seem to have panned right and the portion of the sound that is panning left is so faint as to be unusable. I have tried bouncing these to audio tracks (mono and stereo) but the audio track strips also lack left channel content. The only way I can pan these is to invoke "surround sound" and then place them in that field, which seems like overkill.

It's happening across 2 different MIDI keyboards, one of which is connected directly to the front USB port of the Mac, the other one is connected to a hub.

Logic has been slow to redraw the screen when I zoom out, maybe it's time for more RAM? Would the USB latency issue plus the slow screen redraw lead you to believe I was due for more RAM? I have 6GB right now. Am I maximizing my CPU usage? Maybe the multi core thing is not set up correctly. Logic Studio / Pro :: Trying To Update Mackie Control Universal
I just got hold of a Mackie Control Universal, but for the life of me can't work out how to update it! I've been having a few issues, not sure how they come about, but during working with the MCU, the settings will all automatically change so that:

1) Panning with V-pots goes all funny - I can only pan channels to -64, 0, and +63.
2) When banking through channels (be it by bank or by individual channel), it just skips straight to the final channels, rather than incrementing by 1 or 8,
3) The jog wheel goes really strange, jumping 400 odd bars with every click.

I found someone else online who had the panning issue, and trashing the preference file solved it. However, given that its happened twice in the first half an hour of using, I'd rather solve the problem properly! I've DL the midi file, brought it into my sequencer, booted the Mackie in BootLoader mode, but can't work out how to send the MIDI signal to the desk. I've selected the output source on the MIDI track to Firewire 410 (the MIDI interface that the Mackie is connected to), but nothing.

Logic Studio / Pro :: L9 Drum Replacement - Threshold Control On Tracks
I cannot get this function to work as documented (or as shown in the video on the Apple website). Problems:

1) On one track where there is only a snare, when I select the track no transients are generated and thus no midi notes. Moving the relative threshold around doesn't do anything. The threshold of all of the transients on the track is about -3 db.

2) On another track with a kick transients are generated as well as midi notes. However, I cannot change the kick during Prelisten. When I select a kick from the browser and press Prelisten, the selection jumps back to C1. I have to say OK and then go into EXS and select the kick separately.

3) On another track with a ride cymbal transients are also generated. However, if I select Other and then select the proper trigger note, nothing happens. When I say OK, the kick is still loaded into EXS. So I have to open EXS, load a drum kit, and then transpose the midi track to the right note.

Logic Studio / Pro :: Sysex Faders In Remote Control Environment
I'm trying to build a remote control environment for a Yamaha FS1R synth. I've managed ok so far but have stumbled upon a problem. The FS1R is 4 part multitimbral, so instead of building 4 environments i would like to have 4 buttons that switch between the four parts. All the faders use Sysex messages to communicate with the synth and one part of that message defines the part number. How can i make a button or fader that changes that particular part of the sysex message?

Here's an example of a sysex message used for one of the faders:
F0 43 10 5E 40 00 57 00 00 00 VAL
The 40 in there defines part 1, so to use that fader for part 2 it would have to be changed to 41 (42 for part 3 and 43 for part 4).

So, now my Mac has 2.16 GHz processor, 2GB memory RAM and is running Mac OS X 10.6.3 when it comes to Logic, I am in Logic 8, trying to make the last upgrade of Logic Studio but looks like there's no more space available on my laptop. I'm talking about additional content of audio coming on Jam Pack, etc... The installation program allow me to put some of the data in other hard drives (about 22.68 GB) but still is not enough.

Is there any way to solve this? May be uninstalling programs and data that later will be installed again with my upgrade? I don't want to make a mess before asking.

Probably is time to get a new computer. If this is the only option please somebody tell me! but if is not, I refuse to spend the money. My laptop is working fine...
