IMac Intel :: Won't Stay Asleep / How To Fix It

I use a wireless keyboard and mouse w/the above described iMac. I typically put it to sleep using the remote that came w/the computer. Recently, my computer has been waking up several times per night on its own. I've only had the computer for about three months.

IMac Intel :: 27 Inch I5 Won't Stay Asleep?
So starting this past Sunday my imac wouldn't stay asleep. i would wake up in the middle of the night to a bright display instead of the normal black screen, i'd put it back to sleep then an hour later back on. I tried getting rid of the wake on network. I even logged out then put it to sleep. It still wakes up.

OS X Leopard :: IMac Display Won't Stay Asleep While Encoding With IDVD
My iMac's display refuses to stay in sleep mode while I am encoding a project in iDVD. (Note that I'm referring to sleeping the display, not the entire computer.) I encode large projects overnight, and I am concerned about possible burn-in, the annoyance of the unwanted light when I'm trying to sleep, and the waste of energy. A search of the archives reveals a long history of the same problem which unfortunately has remained unsolved.

I have tried the following with no success:

1. Ruled out accidental mouse/keyboard strokes as the proble

2. Used Hot Corners to initiate sleep (wakes back up after 5 seconds)

3. Setting the sleep display timer to 1 minute in the Energy Saving settings

4. 3rd party app and widget "Sleep Display" (only works for 10.4 Tiger apparently)

OS X :: Displays Won't Stay Asleep.
If i set my displays to sleep in 1 minute (say, if I leave it on overnight, and want it to sleep pretty quickly), they both come back to life after a few minutes. Since they're bright, they absolutely illuminate the room and the S/O isn't too happy with me.

I have an Alu iMac 24", Dell 24", bluetooth mouse, external USB drive, USB keyboard. I tried switching off the bluetooth mouse, and it was no better.

MacBook Aluminum :: Won't Startup From HD Or Install DVD, And Won't Stay Asleep?
Girlfriend bought a new (used) unibody MacBook tonight off Craigslist and it won't turn on - Buyer beware... Anyway, here's what happens and what I've tried, either on my own or on the phone with AppleCare. The seller reinstalled Leopard to it's default settings. First time we turned it on it went straight to a black screen with text that said "No bootable disk available. Please insert install disk." or something like that. (Later, on other restarts, we saw the similar folder with question mark.) Turning off the MB and restarting holding down "option" gave us the choice of choosing startup disk. Choosing Macintosh HD takes us to the desktop and all seems fine.

However, we wanted to reinstall Leopard to create a new profile, etc. Inserting the disk and clicking "Install" prompts a restart. Upon restarting, the MB does not go to the normal install screen, where you first choose your language, but continues to restart and restart. It sounds the normal dong, and goes to a bluish grey screen, but it never makes it to the grey screen with the grey  before restarting.

With AppleCare on the phone we tried a lot of things, like restarting holding down "c," selecting the startup disk in Sys. Prefs. then restarting, resetting the PRAM twice, etc. My first AC rep. sent me to a second and we tried a lot of the same things to no avail.

After hanging up with AC, I closed the MB lid and noticed that instead of going to sleep, the "snore" light remained solid and every ten seconds or so the MB tried to wake itself, almost like the continuously restarting it was doing. I let it do this for a few minutes and the MB starting getting quite hot.

Then I tried a couple things. First I replaced the HD with one from another MacBook with the same results. Then I removed and reinstalled the memory DIMMS, thinking maybe something corrupted was in memory (or startup memory?).So, is there a place where Macs store startup info besides in memory or on the hard drive? It seems like the MB is getting confused or lost trying to find the startup disk.

Software :: Mac Won't Stay Asleep?
For some reason (which I hope someone knows why) my computer started to not stay sleeping. I would go to the apple menu, select sleep, the screen goes dark but then a few seconds later the screen comes back on. I haven't changed any preferences so not sure why it's doing this.

When using screen saver it stays.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Stay Asleep When Plugged In
Today I noticed that when the power cord is plugged in, the MBP won't stay asleep. When I closed the lid, it would fall asleep for a second before it wake right up. This goes back and forth (sleep, then wake up, then fall asleep, then wake...).

I have nothing plugged in or bluetoothed. I have tried all the suggested settings and have reseted the SMC. Neither of them worked.

But when it's on battery, it sleeps fine. So it's not really a big issue but still irritates me.

I have the mid-2010 15" i5 2.4GHz, 4GB and a 500GB Seagate's Momentus XT hard drive.

MacBook Pro :: Resetting The PRAM - Won't Stay Asleep
I have a February 2008 MBP and am having issues with keeping it asleep. I currently have it set up as a desktop connected to an external monitor, keyboard and Magic Mouse (along with a variety of other peripherals) and I've recently noticed this issue. I'm running 10.6.1, I have tried everything from resetting the PRAM, SMC and repairing disk permissions to even installing a clean copy of Snow Leopard and restoring from Time Machine backup.

For power management, I have it set to never sleep, since I manually set it to sleep and don't want it sleeping on me when in use. I also have Wake on LAN activity disabled. Yet when I set it to sleep, at approximately noon the next day it wakes up by itself. I've even turned off the Magic Mouse to make sure it wasn't being moved by vibration and waking up the Mac. I'm completely stumped!

For troubleshooting purposes, I've installed a clean copy of SL without restoring TM backup to see if it's a program that's causing this issue or if it's a problem with a peripheral. I've yet to check back on it as I'm at work, but I'm hoping it's just software related. I'm at a loss as to what to do.

MacBook Air :: Won't Stay Asleep - Black Screen And Freeze
Been having a few huge issues with my new MBA 13".

#1 - Putting the laptop to sleep. I put the laptop to sleep and put it in the bag and at some point it wakes back up. If I don't remove it during the day by that afternoon/evening when I go to remove it the battery is at 0% and it's fully discharged. One day I took it out a couple hours in and the fan was blowing like mad like it had been running for a while, when I opened the lid I had a black screen and it was frozen. Disabled waked for network access but it was no help.

#2 - When the laptop goes in standby and I open it back up I get a beach ball forever - I've tried to let it go for upwards of 30 minutes and it never unfreezes, but I can move the mouse around. I ended up telling the laptop not to standby when it was plugged in to a power source otherwise I ended up always losing work.

Intel Mac :: No Automatic Screensaver And Computer Doesn't Stay Asleep
Bought a new iMac in January, have a problem with the screen saver not coming on automatically after working okay for maybe three or four days. Have had about six calls and spent many hours with Apple techs. We get things working and then after a few days the hot corners won't hold, the screen saver won't come on automatically and the computer doesn't go to sleep as set up. If I manually put it to sleep it doesn't stay asleep for very long. Shutting down or a safe boot, will make it work right again.

MacBook Pro :: Unibody Won't Stay Asleep With Error "Wake Reason = PCI"
I have a late 2008 MBP, and within the last week have been experiencing issues where it won't stay asleep (either by selecting sleep from the apple menu or by closing the lid). The machine goes to sleep initially, but once the deep sleep image is written to disk and the power light starts to pulse, the machine wakes up.

The console log shows the message "Wake reason = PCI". I've tried using applejack to clean the machine, and uninstalled all unused 3rd party control panels, InputManagers, and Safari Plugins. I've tried resetting PRAM and the SMC. I've tried restarting and then sleeping with no apps loaded. Nothing seems to work, and I get the same error above.
The only thing I can think that has changes is that I around the time this started happening, I installed the following Apple updates:

"AirPort Utility Software Update 2009-002" (5.4.2)
"Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update" (2.6)
"iTunes" (8.2.0)
"iLife Support" (9.0.3)
"iDVD Update" (7.0.4)
"Safari" (4.0)
"iPhoto Update" (8.0.3)
"iMovie Update" (8.0.3)
"QuickTime" (7.6.2)

I'm hoping its not a hardware error since I got the machine back from AppleCare after they fixed a noisy fan and malfunctioning power connector...

IMac Intel :: Won't Stay In Sleep?
About a week or so ago my system started performing poorly and crashing often so after a bit of investigation, it turns out it was the hard disk. I replaced the original hard disk which was a WD Caviar 320 (or something like that) with a WD Caviar Green 1TB. I restored my system from a time machine backup and all was well (amazing BTW - never would have been so painless on a PC).

Now, whenever I go into sleep by pressing the button on the back or selecting it from the pull down, the machine wakes back up a few seconds later. Sometimes with a message, sometimes without.

IMac Intel :: Wireless Keyboard Won't Stay On?
I just bought a new iMac at an Apple retail Store. I got the full numeric wired keyboard, and because it is available online as a free upgrade they didn't charge me for it. The wireless keyboard was included in the deal. I want to be able to use it with my iPad and MacBook Pro. When I turn the keyboard on to pair it with another device, the green power light glows for about a second and goes out. No flashing and it doesn't stay on, so I am assuming the keyboard is turning itself off. Neither device can see the keyboard while I am pairing. I have replaced the batteries and am wondering if it is defective or is there something I don't know about.

IMac Intel :: 17" Won't Boot - How To Fix It
So I go and purchase a 640GB Hitachi SATA replacement drive at Fry's and install it. I decide to install Mac OS X 10.4 from a retail copy DVD, my Leopard disk is at the office. When I try to boot to DVD using the "C" key nothing but the blinking question mark on the folder. I try booting using the Startup Manager option key and boot from either the DVD or the DVD image I have a on a external FW drive. Nothing. I finally was able to boot the iMac into FW Target Disk Mode and connect it to a G4 Powerbook. On the Powerbook the new drive, DVD, and external FW drive all mount! So I go ahead and install Tiger via FW Target Disk Mode.

Having successfully installed Tiger on the new drive I still can't the iMac to boot up! It just ends up at the flashing question mark. I've tried:

*Option key for Startup manager
*Command + S for single user
*Option + Command to bypass memory check
*C key to boot to DVD installer
*Tried zapping PRAM
*Unplugging all USB or FW devices from iMac
*Tried booting up with no keyboard or mouse

OS X :: Display Wont Stay Asleep?
So I am one of those guys that keep my desk in the same room I sleep, but cant stand light of any kind while I am sleeping ( I know this will eventually be a hardship for me sometime, somewhere) .

Sure I know I could just move my desk out of the room and avoid this issue but I would like your input.

I like to leave my Mac book on and open with an external display always plugged in. I do not want to shut down or put it to sleep as I want it to be available 24/7 for some type of remote access. I currently have my display set to sleep after one minute with a hot corner to activate (running on 10.6.2) however at random the displays will wake and thus cause this light eyed sleeper to also wake. I can defeat this partially by killing power to one monitor every night but there is nothing I can do about the internal display short of turning down the backlight. I have wake for Ethernet disabled. Can anyone tell me, how can I do what I need to do? What type of background events cause the display to wake and why? And how if at all, can I stop them from doing this? I just want to only be able to wake the display from suspend or power save when I press a key on an attached keyboard.
